The architects on the YoDezeen team have recently completed the interior design and renovation of this apartment in Kiev, Ukraine, which features copper design elements throughout. The architects took two smaller apartments and transformed them into one large apartment by removing walls and walls, creating a large social area for the living room, dining room and kitchen.

Luxury and utility seem mutually exclusive when it comes to design, but those two things were exactly what a young family was looking for when they bought the two apartments in the heart of the city of Kiev. The couple wanted a light-filled, spacious and welcoming home that easily accommodates the individual needs of the family. The architects started the work from the removal of existing partitions to combine two new apartments in one modern space.

After the renovation, the architects obtained free space plans and good proportions that are easily and logically divided into two zones: living room with dining room and a cozy kitchen, plus a private part, where cabinets have been placed for the owner, a guest bedroom, three bathrooms, a children’s room and a master bedroom with built-in wardrobes.

The public area is created by a spectacular combination of living, dining and kitchen areas. The open concept allows natural light from the floor-to-ceiling windows to insolate every corner of the space. The entertaining areas use striking materials, from dark oak floors to copper paneling that are artistically paired with a sophisticated, rather white palette with a few different shades of gray. To make an interior more dramatic and intriguing, the architects added spectacular features such as the moss wall, an energy-saving pendant lamp, modern fabrics, and luxurious furnishings that appeal to family in everyday use.

In the private area, the designers embodied the idea of an effective combination of comfort, convenience and functionality. With a one-year-old, the couple envisioned an elegant home with intimate and personal spaces. For this reason, the architects designed two separate cabinets for the owners, the impressive master bedroom with two large closets providing practical storage space. One of the most striking architectural decisions is the en-suite master bathroom with a luxurious Scoop freestanding bathtub, designed by Michael Schmidt for Falper. The inner journey ends in a charming nursery with white Moooi furniture. It is a charming place that will grow up with a child and easily transform into a full-fledged children’s room.
