As the Asian style appears more and more strongly in modern interiors, in this article I have decided to focus on it and talk about some of its main principles and characteristics. This style can be introduced in all areas of your house, however, today we will focus on bathrooms, bedrooms, living rooms or living rooms and kitchens.
Modern interiors in Asian style, the opposition Yin and Yang
The fundamental thing about this style is that it is based on the principle of the opposition Yin and Yang which is also the foundation of Feng Shui. However, in this article I will not focus so much on Feng Shui per se, since on many occasions we have talked about it, but about the importance, what it provides us and what this couple contributes in opposition to our lives.
According to the Asian philosophical and cultural system, the components of this opposition represent the two most elementary sides of nature, from which everything arises and around which everything moves. In this sense, the Yin energy is the representative of the feminine side, of the feminine force and energy, while the Yang is the representative of the masculine energy.
Surely many times you have seen the symbol that represents these two energies. It is a black and white circle with two dots of the same colors. This circle is the symbol of the two energies: Yin is illustrated with the color black, while Yang is represented by the color white. However, they have to keep in mind that before they start to introduce these energies into modern home decoration, they first have to go deeper into the depths of this style and this way of living in order to understand it.
Modern Asian-style interiors and the meaning of Yin and Yang
As I have already mentioned in the previous paragraph, the two energies are represented by the color white and the color black. However, each of them has a meaning: Yin energy, which is the color black and feminine energy, represents the energy and the passive form. It is the darkness, the silence, according to the Asians this energy is the one that reigns in the interiors at night, when we want to rest and relax.
On the other hand, Yang, the masculine energy represented by the color black, symbolizes activity. In Feng Shui this is the energy that is illustrated with strong and garish colors, with sounds, with light. It can therefore be stated that this is the energy we feel during most of our day: when we are working, when we are driving, when we go out, etc.
For its part, in the culture of the West a great imbalance between these two energies is observed, since we are too busy, we do not have enough time to rest and, sometimes, even the presence of Yin energy, relaxation and tranquility. , is totally absent. This is why creating a home in which there is balance in these two energies is so important. In addition, depending on the room and its type, one of the two energies will always be dominant, but the important thing is that both are present.
Modern interiors where Yin energy reigns
In general, according to this Asian culture, Yin energy is present in our bedrooms and in our bathrooms. These are the favorite rooms of this energy, since they are considered those parts of the house in which we relax and rest. We all like to come home, fill the bathtub with hot water and foam, lie in and relax. However, the fact that we do not have a bathtub or that we do not have enough time to indulge ourselves only shows the imbalance that exists in our house.
On the other hand, the fact that these rooms are owned by Yin energy does not mean that in modern house interiors the Yang element does not have to be present as well. You have to remember that you must always seek the balance between both energies. In this case, to compensate for the presence of the masculine principle, they can place some red candles and bet on light tones to decorate the bathroom. Remember that the feminine principle is hidden in the dark tones.
Another interesting thing that I have also talked about in other articles is that water in this culture is the symbol of money. When we talk about the bathrooms in the house, do not forget that this is the part of the interior through which money “escapes”. For this reason, it is very important that the pipes are hidden, since otherwise, you will witness the flight of wealth. This is why the bathroom does not have to be located in the Wealth and Work area indoors.
Modern interiors in bedrooms and Yin energy
On the other hand, the Yin energy is also the owner of the bedrooms and is the queen of the rooms, since they are the parts of the home in which we spend our time to rest and relax. For this reason, it is very important that in these areas of the house the presence of the feminine principle is highly reinforced, while the masculine principle is not appreciated so much.
Many people make the mistake of placing a television in the bedroom (loud noise), the tracksuit or clothing with which they train (symbol of activity) or some objects from the office and work. All these objects and components that are inside the bedrooms increase the Yang energy, the masculine energy.
However, to balance the presence of both energies to a certain extent, it is best to bet on decorative elements that include pastel tones and light tones. In this way, they will fill your bedroom with light and clarity and will incorporate the presence of the Yang element. In summary, we can say that what is valid for the interior decoration of modern houses and bathrooms is used for the decoration of the bedrooms.
The importance of the bed in rooms and bedrooms and modern interior decoration
As I have already mentioned above, the opposition of the elements that I am talking about in this article is at the base of the training of Feng Shui. Another of the big mistakes that people make in bedrooms is the accumulation of many objects and, in many cases, the conversion of these spaces into storage rooms.
It is very important that you understand that although these objects are not seen, the mere presence of them sets limits and hinders the movement of energy in the room. They have to take into account that the excessive accumulation of junk generates a chaos that is in opposition to the harmony and tranquility that Feng Shui seeks.
One of the places where we most tend to accumulate old and useless junk is under the beds. According to Asian culture, their presence under these furniture generates a negative energy that is transferred to the sleepers, especially when it is a marriage, and it is believed that these objects will appear in their dreams.
Modern interiors and interior colors according to children
One of the beliefs of Feng Shui related to the bedrooms, the rooms and the colors of the interior decoration falls on the inhabitants of these rooms. This is extremely important when it comes to children’s rooms, since each person is the bearer of a specific element and the color of the room has to symbolize the element before theirs.
This sounds a bit complicated, but the order of the elements and the colors is as follows: fire, its color is red; the earth, its color is yellow; the metal, white; the water, blue or black; and the wood, green. The logic that they have to follow as said above is that if your child is a representative of the earth element, the color that has to appear and predominate in his room is red (the color of fire).
On the other hand, if the child is representative of metal, the predominant color in the interior should be yellow; if it represents water, white must dominate; if it is wood, its color is blue or black; and if it is fire. the color is green. In this way, a balance is achieved not only between the energies inside, but also between the energy of the person who inhabits the place and the energy present in this space.
However, when it comes to an older person, the interior colors and decoration have to follow a mixed pattern between the color of the person’s element and the color before it. On the other hand, the position of the bedroom has to be in a diagonal line to the right of the front door, since there is the marriage sector.
Modern interiors and decoration of living rooms and dining rooms
Another important point in Feng Shui and the balance of energies are the living rooms and dining rooms. Placing the emphasis on the dining room, it has to be cozy, pleasant and bright, since in this space the family has to spend some of the most fun and happy moments, while they are together and while they are eating.
On the other hand, the dining room has to be close to the kitchen, but it doesn’t have to be too close to the front door, since in this case, the guests will leave as soon as they consume the food. Also, the most important piece of furniture in this room is the table that has to be placed near the center of the room so that people can get up and move freely.
One of the mistakes that many people who live alone make is that every time they sit down to eat they do so in the same place, in the same chair. However, this habit is considered negative from a Feng Shui point of view, since the other chairs are left unused. What they have to do is have at least three chairs around the table and change chairs every time they eat. In this way, they will be doing a symbolic act of inviting people to their home.
Furniture in modern dining room interiors according to Feng Shui
The most important piece of furniture in the dining rooms of home interiors is the table. In this sense, round or oval tables are considered good in Feng Shui, unlike square and rectangular ones. The reason is that the angles of these tables generate negative energy, which can be corrected if these angles change and become curved.
Another of the mistakes of modern houses inside and dining rooms with square or rectangular tables is that when two people sit opposite each other, they look like opponents. We all know that King Arthur’s table was round. This character probably also knew that round tables ensure more harmony and communication.
Another very important point is that in this space there should not be too much furniture for the living room. Ideally, in this room there is a table with the necessary number of chairs and a few pieces of furniture around it. In this way, interior houses and dining rooms will appear more spacious.
On the other hand, in modern house designs and modern Asian interiors they can also incorporate the presence of paintings with food represented or with landscapes of mountains and rivers, as well as mirrors. In this way, you will be increasing the amount of food and drink.
