Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Anker Soundcore 2

Ever wondered what makes in wireless speaker the prime choice to have on the go to listen to music, have you ever thought it had to be durable or whether it had to be water-resistant just in case you spill water on it, how about its aesthetics, maybe simply the price, in my opinion, the Anker Soundcore 2 has it all.

Anker Soundcore Boost

The Anker Soundcore Boost is one of the popular speakers from the Anker and from the Soundcore line-up speakers because it has an app to customize the EQ. This speaker is retailing for around sixty dollars currently on Amazon.

DESIGN:

Anker Soundcore 2

The soft but durable plastic exterior protects against minor impressions, and it’s also scratch-resistant. So whether it be the beech woods or downright dirty places, you can just have fun and forget about your worries. One thing to point out though it does it chuck fingerprints it’s not a big deal if you ask me. The ports on this Soundcore 2 are covered and its shape is more rounded giving it a refined look. The buttons are easy to press and have a nice click on them. The two LED lights on either side one for power status, and another for Bluetooth pairing status.

Anker Soundcore Boost

Its materials are different from other speakers such as the Soundcore 2. It’s got a cloth mesh here and you see that a lot of high-end home stereo speakers, and the top and the bottom are matte plastic, they’re not the rubberized finish like the Soundcore 2. All your buttons are there on the top, they are easy to press, and flush mount. You get a battery indicator, you power on/off button, volume up and down buttons, play and pause button, bass up button, and you’ve got pairing for NFC for Android phones and tablets. On the side there, you’ve got a flap for your charging which it’ll accept up to 2.4 amps, you’ve got your auxiliary jack, and then you’ve got your USB out, and this flap is a nice rubber material.

FEATURES:

Anker Soundcore 2

This speaker has a long-lasting battery life from experience, with the Anker Soundcore 2, I easily recognize its astonishing 24-hour playtime. Simply put, it’ll probably take you at least a full day of hardcore usage to kill its battery life. It’s powered by its fantastic built-in high-capacity Li-ion battery that also charges quickly. Long-lasting battery life is a strong point here at least for me, and this is a big game-changer. As other brands tend to irritate me with how fast their battery life would end. What I love about this improved speaker is that it has an auto turn-off mood, where if it does not detect any connectivity or song, after 20 minutes it powers down to conserve battery life and that’s pretty good for me.

As far as the outdoor usage and aesthetics, listening to music anywhere isn’t a problem anymore even on rainy days you’ll be able to listen to the Anker Soundcore 2. The reason for this is it has the IPX5 water-resistant rating and with that, its dust roof engineering means that you can be adventurous as you want. In the upgraded version ven you get the IPX7 that means you can even submerge this in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes and it will be alright.

The reliability of the speaker as good as the Bluetooth connection to every device I had. However, the speaker wouldn’t be without expected limitations here. You can leave your phone or tablet in the house, and go up to 66 feet with the speaker and remain connected, and that’s thanks to the powerful Bluetooth 5.0 technology in the upgraded version. It however becomes a bit unstable, if you go into another room and pass the 66 limits. This portable and the lightweight speaker comes with a built-in microphone, which makes hands-free calling almost effortless, and it actually comes in pretty handy at times.

Anker Soundcore Boost

Anker really changed up their packaging material. Anker has been known for a white box, it’s really plain kind of Apple and they have this is the first product I’ve seen with this new black look black and blue look and I really like it. I think it looks really sharp and of a premium product. So you can see just the details there it does have an 18-month warranty which is nice, on the back it gives you rough directions, the buttons, and key features, two 10 watt drivers and a passive subwoofer two of them it says.

The frequency response is 70 Hertz to 20 kilohertz, this does have Bluetooth 4.2, so if you’ve got a really old phone or tablet the speaker may not be compatible with it, it’s one thing to keep in mind. Inside the box, you get the owner’s manual which is really nice, you have the famous happy, not happy card that tells you what to do in your customer service experience, and then in a black part, you get a standard USB charging cable. No power brick is included with this, so if you’re going to change this from the flat I’d recommend using the cell phone charger or something like that because this does accept two amps input, and charging over a computer would take quite a while.

It’s got 20 watts of combined power and a new bass-up feature. It’s IPX5 water-resistant which is upgraded to IPX7 which means it is submersible under one meter of water for up to 30 minutes and has an improved range of 66 feet or more. Anker claims 12-hour battery life on this, and I was listening at moderate volume with bass boost on, and I got easily over 12 hours. So I think that a 12-hour claim is probably a higher volume level. The speaker does not have an auto-off feature which I really like and which it did have. You’ve got your USB out, so you can charge your phone or tablet off this speaker at about 1 amp, it’s not a ton of capacity but if you’re running really low or just want to top up your device it should work well for that.

I do have a slight problem with turning on this speaker, you’ve got to really press this button quick to make it come on, and there’s a little bit of lag there. So what I end up doing is wanting to press and hold the turn it on and that turns on in pairing mode. So it’s just a really quick press and that’s really quick off to power off. On this the NFC is a really nice way to pair for an Android phone or tablet, you just have the screen on and wave over to this corner, and a screen pops up saying do you want to pair to Soundcore Boost, it makes it really easy. But the normal Bluetooth pairing works well if you don’t have a phone that’s capable of NFC or an Apple device.

SOUND QUALITY:

Anker Soundcore 2

Anker Soundcore 2 boasts a solid compact speaker with an upgraded 2 X 6 what driver, which rocks out a vibrant, clear sound, that is surprisingly louder than you expected, and it’s enough for a room party, and the good outdoors as well. Quality bass with a wide and well-balanced audio range with profound lows, the Anker Soundcore 2 packs a deeper quality, and a bigger bass. This is something that you don’t see often especially, in speakers so compact as this one, which is a huge selling point for me.

Anker Soundcore Boost

I’ve got several other Anker Bluetooth speakers and they’ve been my favorite so far. However, on this one, the sound keeps getting better and better in terms of the sound quality and especially, this bass-up technology. The 20-watt drivers allow this to get loud but still stay clear at the same time. The bass up technology is like a bass boost button but it’s a really good high-quality one, it doesn’t add distortion, and I like it so much. It makes it sound like this unit is a small integrated subwoofer, and it makes a really big difference in music and even for spoken word too. It’s just a lot richer fuller sound, depth to the music is what I’d call it.

Anker Soundcore Boost

WHICH ONE IS WORTH BUYING?

In my opinion, the Anker Soundcore 2 is worth buying than the Anker Soundcore Boost because for the extra twenty dollars the Soundcore Boost almost has the same features as the upgraded Soundcore 2 such as the bass up function, USB Type-C for charging, IPX7 rating, and in fact, the Soundcore 2 has better battery life than the Soundcore Boost. The only feature that Soundcore 2 doesn’t have is the app to control EQ but I think still without the app also the Soundcore 2 sounds better, has all the good features as the Soundcore Boost for twenty dollars less price range, so it is worth buying than the Soundcore Boost.
