Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Anker Soundcore Flare

The Anker Soundcore Flare is the bigger version of the Soundcore Flare Mini from the Flare series speakers. This speaker is one of the popular and great speakers in the market offering quite good features and performances at a budget-friendly price range. This speaker is retailing for around sixty-four dollars currently on Amazon.

Ultimate Ears Boom 3

The Ultimate Ears is popular in the market for its great sound quality. This speaker from the Ultimate ears is also well-known in the market in that respect. This speaker is actually an updated version speaker of the Boom 2 from the Ultimate Ears. This speaker is retailing for different prices based on the color you prefer to choose from.

DESIGN:

Anker Soundcore Flare

As far as the design of the Anker Soundcore Flare, it has the same cylindrical shape as the other Flare series speakers. On the top of the speaker is where you have got all your media control buttons such as the play and pause button, plus, and minus buttons to increase and decrease the volume, a button having a light symbol to change the different light modes available, and then your bass up button. Then on the back of the speaker is where there will be your power and Bluetooth button, and also, there will be a flap and when you open it, you will find the audio-in and micro USB ports there.

Ultimate Ears Boom 3

On the top of the speaker, it’s going to be a button to play and pause, a power button, and a Bluetooth button. In the front of the speaker, you have got your volume up and volumes down button. On the backside of the speaker, there is a rubber strip from top to bottom where on the bottom, there is the Ultimate Ears logo and at the bottom, there is the flap, when you flip it open there will be your micro USB charging port. On the bottom there will be your wireless charging point, so you can also use the Ultimate Ears wireless charging dock if you want to charge this wirelessly.

FEATURES:

Anker Soundcore Flare

The Anker Soundcore Flare comes in a nice box, and when you open the box, you will find your speaker itself, your micro USB charging cable, user manuals, and warranty card there in the box. As far as the features on this, this supports Bluetooth 4.2, battery life of 12 hours as the company claims, IPX7 rated which means it is submersible in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes and this comes with a Soundcore companion app.

As far as the battery and its life, the company claims 12 hours of battery life. By my test, at 50 percent volume, the claim was accurate and at maximum volume, you should expect half the claim. This speaker also has another great feature in terms of battery life, which is you are not using the speaker for around 30 minutes then it will automatically get turned off to save your battery life. You can also, save your battery life more by turning off your light on your speaker when you don’t need it. To charge this speaker you have got a micro USB port in this and that is a drawback in 2021 when all competitors are coming up with USB-C.

As far as the Bluetooth connectivity on this speaker, it is not great because it has only a 4.2 version which is a drawback in this speaker. As far as the connectivity range, it works quite well till 30 feet by my test and then after it gets to start disconnected. As far as the lag latency on this speaker, that means is there any delay between what you hear and what you see while watching videos. This is where I really get disappointed more because there was noticeable lag while watching videos on Youtube. In the Soundcore companion app, you can change the light modes, you can customize the EQ settings, and also, you can pair two speakers to get a stereo sound effect out of these speakers through this app.

Ultimate Ears Boom 3

This speaker is compatible with Apple and Android, it is a waterproof speaker, drop it in a swimming pool or beach it will float they wouldn’t sink, and it’s going to be a 360 audio, so you get full 360 audio, you can connect it to the app, and it is IP67 can connect multiple speakers together, and it is around 15 hours of charge. You have different color options with these, such as black, blue, red, gray, and you have few more colors. The speaker comes in a nice package and inside the box, you gonna get a book, a micro USB cable for charging these up, they have not moved to USB-C.

To power this on, turn on the power button, once you turn them on, a voice prompt comes that guides you to download Megaboom and Boom app. I tested out the lag latency on this speaker and what I meant by that is, is there any delay between what we watch and what we listen to while watching videos. So, so far lag, there is no delay. I can watch any of the TV shows anything, I can watch from YouTube sort of movies, I don’t have an issue with the delays.

They are pretty loud, you have extra three hours of battery, they are waterproof, they have good features but they don’t have the bass. So, if you are looking for a really good bass speaker Boom 3 is not the one for you, you’re gonna go for a Charge 4 or Charge 3 or Flip 4 or Flip 5. Even though you’re paying more, you are not getting the same bass but they are pretty loud for sure.

SOUND QUALITY:

Anker Soundcore Flare

Everything just sounds completely natural, it sounds like a 200-dollar speaker here in this small package. It’s pretty crazy like for such a cheap speaker you get such good sound quality. You’d be honestly hard-pressed to find anything better for this price out there. Also, do keep in mind though that this thing does get insanely loud. Actually, it is uncomfortably loud, when it is at max, so I wouldn’t recommend it unless you like your music super loud.

Ultimate Ears Boom 3

As far as the sound quality on this, the one thing I really noticed is that it doesn’t have the same bass, and it’s also plain. There is no bass, so plain and flat. Even though the song has good bass to it, the speaker doesn’t sound that well. I do have a little bit of issue with audio, that is there is no bass on the Boom 3 but they are definitely pretty loud, louder than that JBL Flip 5.

Ultimate Ears Boom 3

WHICH ONE IS GOOD FOR YOU?

In my opinion, the Anker Soundcore Flare is the one good for you compared to the Ultimate Ears Boom 3 because the Anker Soundcore Flare sounds better, has a better bass response with the bass up features, and better battery life at its price point compared to the Boom 3. Even at a price lower than the Boom 3, the Anker Soundcore Flare offers the same micro USB for charging, and for a higher price Ultimate Ears is not even offering USB-C.
