Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Anker Soundcore Flare

The Anker Soundcore Flare is one of my new favorite home theater speakers and I use it all the time for gaming on the big screen. The best part about this speaker is not the spinny light over there, but it’s always retailing for a budget-friendly price. This speaker is retailing for around Sixty-four dollars currently on Amazon.

JBL Flip 5

The Flip 5 is the latest version of the Flip series speakers from the JBL. There are many things that have changed in Flip 4 and that’s what makes Flip 5 the updated version speaker of the Flip series speakers. This speaker is retailing for quite a higher price that is for around a hundred and twenty dollars currently Amazon.

DESIGN:

Anker Soundcore Flare

The design of the speaker is very minimalistic, and I think that’s what really draws me to it the most. I really truly love minimalistic things, and the Anker here really brought the Flare and they gave it a premium look and feel without the premium price tagging. That is really fantastic like it’s wrapped in a very soft and elegant fabric with a slight rubber feel on the buttons on top, and on the light strip on the bottom, which probably caught your attention because aside from the design itself the lights are arguably the most eye-catching thing in this. The lights move in tune, and they change colors to whatever it is that you’re playing, and they can get pretty crazy and bright especially with games.

JBL Flip 5

As far as the design of the speaker, they have changed the design on both sides. On the back of the speaker, you have got the power button, Bluetooth button and also, there are LED lights. Also, on the back of the speaker, you have got the USB Type-C port to charge your speaker. On the front of the speaker, you have got the plus and minus buttons for volume up and volume down. Then you have the play and pause button right there on the front and also, your party boost button. On the sides, you have got the radiators that pump when the bass hits, as like the other JBL speakers.

FEATURES:

Anker Soundcore Flare

You may think this speaker looks like an Amazon Alexa or looks like a Google Home but it is certainly none of the above because rather than focusing on smarts, this speaker is all about the sound. I personally really love when companies do speakers like this because it makes things affordable, it makes the product even better, and obviously, you get a lot of quality for it. In this speaker also, you’ve got a lot of quality, and it’s really truly great. This speaker with Hyrule warriors is really great because of the intense music and action, this thing is like going completely bonkers, it’s pretty wild, and it’s really cool to watch.

One of the nice features about the Flare is, it is waterproof, so it can be submerged in water and it also comes packed with a 12-hour battery inside. I always forget to charge this speaker as I’ve only had to charge it once out of the few weeks that I’ve had it but while it’s sitting on my projector, I seriously forget to charge it because the battery just lasts forever. For a wireless speaker that’s really unheard of because they always die very quickly but to have a battery life of 12 hours in a speaker like this, it’s kind of really good.

Another thing worth noting about this is that there’s also a Soundcore Companion app, so if you have this thing connected to your smartphone you can actually adjust the sound EQ, pair a second speaker to create a left and right stereo audio channel which is really good, and you can also adjust and fine-tune the lights to whatever it is you want. So, this speaker is actually very personable and I think that’s really great. I actually personally use this speaker connected with an audio cable directly to the headphone jack in the switch and this thing sounds truly fantastic. I mean to make it into my home theater in the first place, it really has to be something special, and this speaker is really truly special.

JBL Flip 5

The speaker comes in a nicely packed box, and in the box, yeo different boxes. Inside the small box, it is going to be the QuickStart guide, and you get a warranty and a manual, and your USB Type-C cable. So, they have made this speaker futureproof, and they have moved from micro USB to USB-C. The speaker itself comes in a quite nice box made of some type of foam as well the presentation is good and there is nothing in the box other than the speaker. As far as the features on this, the Flip 5 comes with 12 hours of battery, you have Bluetooth, and you have three colors black, blue, and green, 12 hours of battery, it is IPX7 waterproof, and also, you can download JBL app to connect multiple speakers together.

You have not got the Connect Plus feature in this, instead, you have got the party boost feature in this speaker, so you can’t connect the older version speakers from this series or the other models such as the Xtreme 2 connected with this. But you can connect multiple speakers that have the party boost feature and have them all connected together, to get them all to play together or you can connect only two of them and get the stereo sound out of them.

I have also tested out the lag latency with this speaker. What I mean by that is, is there any delay in what we watch and what we hear while watching any video. As per my test, they have no delays while watching youtube videos and also, with Netflix. This speaker is very loud, there is no distortion on this while watching a video or watching movies, or watching a serial. Whatever you are watching there is no delay from audio to video. If you are looking for a very small portable speaker with waterproof and longer battery life, the JBL Flip 5 is the one for you.

SOUND QUALITY:

Anker Soundcore Flare

The point where the speaker truly shines though is in its sound quality, that’s why I love it so much. You may not think it for the price but for a 60 dollar speaker, you would think corners would be cut here and there but in fact, they actually raised the bar by implementing 360-degree sound, which obviously makes perfect sense for placing it in like the center of the room. What struck me the most here though is that the speaker doesn’t have any over boosted bass, or muddy treble, or distortion.

JBL Flip 5

As far as the sound quality on this speaker, I have tested this out at 50% volume first and it almost gives like a 360 degree sound output, so if I turn this around, it will have the same audio and notably, you would not have any issues however you turn the sides the speaker facing you. At the full volume, when you put the speaker of with the JBL logo facing up, it’s much louder and it seems to be the speakers are located on that side but it still seems to be giving the sound equally but the from the JBL logo part is where you can get the loudest sound out of this.

JBL Flip 5

WHICH ONE IS FOR YOU?

Overall, if you’re in the market for a speaker, or you’re looking for a new speaker at the lowest price then the Anker Soundcore Flare is the one for you. The design is premium, the light show is really nice and fun touch, the battery life is almost great as the Flip 5 at the lowest price, and most importantly, that sound quality though is being phenomenal. It’s truly great for a 64 dollar speaker.
