Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Blue Snowball

The Blue Snowball is one of the best USB microphones in this budget. This microphone comes in three colors. It’s a plug and plays USB microphone, designed for those who want affordable, really high-quality audio. This will blow out any built-in microphone in a laptop. This microphone is retailing for around sixty to a hundred dollars currently based on which color microphone you prefer to choose.

Samson Go USB

The Samson Go USB microphone is not some brand new product that just came out, it’s been out for a little while. If you are looking for a device to help you when you are traveling to get really good audio, better audio, and if you don’t want built-in microphones on your laptop, and also, you don’t want to have to carry around a portable microphone like the desktop microphone something like that to get really good quality, then this Samson Go USB will actually perform well and fulfill your needs.

DESIGN:

Blue Snowball

Around the back of the mic, you can see that you have a switch between three built-in patterns, cardioid, a 10 decibel padded cardioid, and omnidirectional. While people getting this mic might not need all these bells and whistles, it’s a great place to start and start learning how these things work. This mic also comes with a pretty nice little plastic tripod stand, that’s actually surprisingly versatile, pretty nimble, I don’t think it would be enough but it actually works just fine on my desk. The mic is also light enough that you don’t need to buy a better stand to use it.

Samson Go USB

On the left-hand side of it, you do have a headphone jack, and also you have a micro USB port that’s gonna be used to hook that up via USB to your computer to start using it. Then on the other side, you have a little switch there to switch between the cardioid and the omnidirectional pattern. So, you’ll be able to get a nice podcasting type of feel, if you just want to have just it capture your audio, or you can go omnidirectional and pick up the audio from the entire room itself. It also has a little LED indicator on the front, what that indicator does is when you start speaking, the little green light on the front of it will actually turn red. So, that’s a nice little thing that you can see on this microphone. Overall, obviously, the design is pretty compact, it’s pretty sturdy, it doesn’t feel cheap, and it looks stylish too, and also, the design and the hardware are pretty nice.

FEATURES:

Blue Snowball

In the box, you get your microphone itself, then you do get a six-foot USB cable, you get a desktop microphone stand, you get some documentation and a two-year warranty. As far as construction and build quality, it is mostly plastic but it’s fantastic plastic, there are no problems with it and for ease of use, this is one of the easiest microphones to use which is a wonderful job from Blue. This is a great mic for beginners on YouTubers, podcasters if you are a beginner.

The Blue Snowball is coming with two polar patterns such as cardioid and omnidirectional. The cardioid pattern is the pattern in which the microphone will pick up the sound from the front and from both sides except the back. Actually, it picks up the sound in a heart pattern and this is the pattern which is used by all mostly. This pattern can be used for podcasting, streaming, voiceovers, etc. The second pattern available on this microphone is the Omnidirectional pattern, the pattern in which the microphone picks up the sound from al 360 degrees and picks up almost everything. This pattern is used in a meeting, group discussion, etc that when you want to record the discussions.

Samson Go USB

When you first took this thing out of the packaging and hold it in your hand for the first time, you will just feel the definition of a portable microphone. It’s very compact, very small, it can fit in your pockets very easily, and it seems to be pretty secure in the travel configuration. When you want to go ahead and start using it, just put your thumb on the little clip on the right-hand side of it, and pull out the microphone and you’re all set to go. It looks good, it looks clean, and it looks nice.

Actually, you can use this microphone in two different ways, so when you just use it in the default, it is actually a little stand so once you pull the microphone out, and you can set that right on your desk. You can actually position the microphone in multiple different ways because there is a little rotating ball, so you can position the microphone to be able to get the best audio capturing. Another option is we can use it in a clip configuration, that we can clip this right on top of your computer.

PERFORMANCE:

Blue Snowball

This one will seriously do sound just fine, so I think you get the point this mic is definitely worth buying, even if you’re looking for professional sounding audio on a tight budget. For the price or even for any USB microphone, this sounds really good. So, you would have no problem with using this for YouTube. Overall, as far as the sound quality, this microphone could definitely be better but then again this is better than most other USB microphones.

Samson Go USB

I think this is a very nice portable solution to get really nice sounding audio besides using your built-in microphone. It is very compact, it can fit in your pocket, it in your back pocket, you can take it anywhere easily. It produces really good audio, since it is a USB condenser microphone you can just plug in the via USB you don’t have to worry about anything else. Definitely, you are going to get better sounding audio than what’s coming out of your built-in microphone. For the price, it really sounds good and also for its small size it’s really unbelievable, it sounds that much good.

Samson Go USB

WHICH TO BUY?

In my opinion, the Samson Go USB is good for you to buy than the Blue Snowball because it does sound better than the Blue Snowball, and also, for only fifty dollars the Samson Go USB has both cardioid and omnidirectional polar pattern which the Blue Snowball has for a more price. Also, the Samson Go USB is very compact and portable than the Snowball.

Expert Reviews of Blue Snowball:

By Sound On Sound
Though subject to certain technical limitations, the Snowball works well for close-up vocals or speech, while the pattern switching system gives a choice of two very usable tonalities. The inclusion of a pad switch means that it may also be used for recording louder sources, such as guitar combos or percussion.

At this price, you’ll have a hard time finding a better-sounding, better-looking, or more easy-to-use microphone for your computer. Just don’t expect the Blue Microphones Snowball to replace a studio’s worth of recording gear.
