Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Denon Envaya DSB-250 BT

The Denon Envaya DSB-250BT is the biggest and latest speaker in Denon. There are other speakers in Denon, which are small and medium-sized. The newer version of the Denon is much better. The DSB 250BT really outperforms anything. It’s a really great speaker. The Denon sounds more hi-fi, on higher volumes, it sounds more relaxed, on lower volumes, it has a bass boost.  It’s even waterproof and the battery life is improved. Maybe it doesn’t look as fancy as some other speakers like the poles with the lights or something but it’s just a very amazing and very serious sounding speaker and replaces many speakers at the same time.

JBL Charge 3

JBL charge 3 got to be one of the most anticipated speakers of the year the charge 2, charge 2 plus and an original charge were just huge hits and with all the improvements the JBL revealed at CES this year. The speaker definitely looks like a mini Xtreme, very nice you will love the way it looks if you’re a fan of Xtreme. It feels really premium, got some very nice weight. There are the passive radiators on the speaker, they’re one of my favourite features on the JBL’s. It is very nice looking and then just all around we’ve got that nice waterproof cloth that you found on the extreme. It does come in different and funky colours, there are many options for you.

JBL Charge 3

DESIGN:

Denon Envaya DSB-250BT

The designed of this speaker is simple and not fancy. When you will see the speaker, it doesn’t feel that heavy. It feels like it’s made of rubber and matte both. It is available in two colours, one is plain black and the other is mixing of 2 colours, you can take whichever you like. Behind the grill, the Envaya employs dual 40 millimetres, 13.5-watt drivers for stereo output, and the audio is bolstered by a 2.0 by the 5.3-inch passive radiator. Keep in mind that the Denon has great rubber, great mids and still keeps a fair amount of deep bass kick. It does create some modest rumble. Both models have black matte rubber at the ends. The speaker is protected against dust ingress and is waterproof.

JBL Charge 3

On the top it has exact same button layout, Bluetooth, volume controls, power on, JBL connects, play pause which also used to accept calls, everything just like Xtreme. The big difference is on the back, on the Xtreme, it’s a zipper which makes the Xtreme just water-resistant not waterproof. The cover on the back of charge 3 actually seals tight, it’s got some plastic material around it, it keeps everything out which allows it to be waterproof and then when we open it up we’ve got your ports there your auxiliary out or auxiliary in, your USB micro USB charging, and, your USB charger to charge your devices. Then this does need to be closed and then you’ve officially made the speaker waterproof. It has nice rubber material right there, a nice little foot right there to keep it in place. I kind of like that better on the Xtreme it just had two little feet there and if you had it on a surface that wasn’t even hit tended to sometimes roll back and forth, hopefully, that’ll be a better solution as far as keeping it stable on the surface. On the speaker, you’ve got your indicator lights for your battery. So, overall it’s impressive just at the looks.

FEATURES:

Denon Envaya DSB-250BT

When you will open the box, after unwrapping the foil, you will notice the packaging actually is quite big but in real life I expected it to be much bigger. So, moving forward just like with the old version the packaging looks very nice. It’s really high-quality and it’s also a brand new one. So, after unwrapping and all we have another kind of packaging which is a nice kind of Denon column and it’s a no package like an iPhone or something and on top, you already have the speaker and I already noticed it has a very heavy smell to it it doesn’t smell cheap or something just smells a bit like plastic, which in my opinion even smells good but that’s not for our people. So you just get some manuals and also a micro USB charging cable, sadly no micro or USB type-c which would be much nicer.

On the right end of the speaker, there are controls for volume up and down, a phone call answer/end button, a central power button, and Bluetooth pairing. On the back-side of the speaker, there is a flat black micro USB charging cable and the 3.5-millimetres aux input. The battery life of this speaker is up to 13 hours. There is a passive radiator that adds great bass presence to the mix. It has an IP67 rating, so DSB-250BT can stand in 1m of water for 30 minutes without damaging the speaker.

One critic point with the Denon might be that it’s quite directional, you will see it sounds very directional and very great and it loses the tremor. So, it’s not too bad. When you will compare this against the older version so, you will see the older version is much slimmer and smaller overall. But there is not much difference in the width. So, they are about the same width just that the newer version is about two times the thickness almost so probably one and a half times or even two times bigger. When you will look at it you will see it’s also a bit and I think the features also almost the same as it features the same drivers.

JBL Charge 3

The packaging is very nice and there is a nice big picture of charge 3. On the box there is given information and features of this speaker like 20-hour battery life, 60MLM amp hour battery that also serves as a power bank to charge your phone, we got speakerphone capabilities, and, the coolest feature is IPX7 waterproof. So, you can throw this speaker in the water, in the pool, spill it completely, submerge it, and, you’re going to be perfectly fine. Look wise you will really like the way this thing looks if you like Xtreme as it looks just like the Xtreme just a mini version of it.

When you will open the box, it’s a nice cushy in there to protect the speaker. Then you have a little black box that probably got our accessories. The way everything is nice and simple, nicely organized inside the box is impressive. Then we’ve got a nice big charging brick which recharge the whole plugs or prongs them, which is really nice, I like when they include a nice brick there with the prongs able to tuck in that just makes it easier when you’re transporting it around and then you have your micro USB cord to charge and your usual instructions and manuals there. Then finally the speaker itself.

When you will hold the speaker you will feel that the speaker has some nice weight to it, which is nice. It does have 2 drivers at 10 watts each and if you notice the frequency response is 65 Hertz to 20 kilohertz. If you’re familiar with the extreme you know that the extreme only goes down to 70 Hertz. So, the charge 3 actually gets a little bit lower, which should hopefully show in a sound when you listen to it and it should reach a little bit lowered, a little bit deeper than what the Xtreme was obviously it’s not going to overpower the Xtreme so much larger speaker but just knowing that it can hit a little bit lower is really promising. So far the picture shown on the box is very impressive. And important thing is, is it going to sound as impressive as it looks on paper. One other feature obviously we’ve got JBL to connect so you can connect it to your existing JBL speakers like the Xtreme, the flip 3, and, then the JBL pulse 2. It wirelessly links multiple JBL Connect compatible speakers together.

JBL CHARGE 3

SOUND QUALITY:

Denon Envaya DSB-250BT

Denon has a PMA-60 amplifier that delivers true and superior sound. Mid sounds nice and the compression is not too strong. Denon has a bass boost and very nice sound, great stereo separation, a lot of basses. The Denon really sounds great, it outperforms other speakers. It also sounds great on low volume. So, it has a bass boost, another volume that sounds like a hi-fi speaker. This speaker sounds more elegant than any other speaker. It is loud and powerful.

This speaker had two full wench drivers supported by two passive radiators, at the front and at the back. It should sound really nice almost on one level with the JBL charge 3. Denon really did great with this speaker and via Mini which sounds very nice nowadays. They have even improved it and it sounds really great and maybe it’s one of the best for this kind of money and in this kind of size class. It’s definitely one of the winners in 2017, it’s a great speaker it would be the replacement to many other speakers as it has created any record for any kind of music at any volume. So, it’s really a great speaker even at the ending of 2017 it sounds great and can really compete with all of the others and even beat them for example the JBL charge.

JBL Charge 3

The sound of this speaker is amazing. I tested in different locations throughout the indoors of the house and then of course outside like an outdoor test and at different places too. Honestly, you will really like the speaker and will be more impressed with the JBL charge 3. It is way better 6 then that of JBL charge 2 and 2 plus, they’ve definitely stepped up the game the biggest difference for me is that the JBL charge 2 and 2 plus sounded really good at about 50 60 % but then it started cranking that volume up you could tell that, the speaker was being restrained to prevent distortion and it just didn’t sound that great. The JBL charge 3, on the other hand just keeps getting better and better the louder you go. It’s still as impressive, if not more than the JBL charge at low volumes but yes it takes it up to the next notches in volume as far as sound quality goes.

The passive radiators are amazing. The bass is also very impressive down to 65 Hertz like I said earlier, which is pretty impressive for a speaker and its size. Outdoors it really had no problem sounded pretty good, it’s not covering as much area as a JBL Xtreme doesn’t have quite the soundstage of the extreme but it’s also more than half the size of the Xtreme. So, I wouldn’t expect it to but overall first impressions, I’m very impressed with this speaker I think JBL did a really great job on this upgrade.

WHICH TO BUY?

When you will listen to both the JBL and DBS 250BT, JBL sounds low and unrefined like something is missing in sound, while the Denon sounds like a small Hi-Fi speaker. It sounds like a mini FIFA or something it has very awesome sounding. The JBL sounds like a kitchen radio compared to the new Denon. So, although the JBL has a nice face there’s a lot of intermodulation going on and also doesn’t sound very refined compared to the Denon and that’s just super amazing because I usually prefer that JBL when it comes to bass over any other speaker but here the Denon definitely wins, sounds way more elegant. So, DSB 250BT seriously gets a big buying recommendation from me it sounds great in any regard on max volume. It still depends on your preference.

There is a huge price gap between both speakers, DSB- 250BT is worth $379, while JBL Charge 3 is worth $199. DSB- 250BT is expensive and its sound quality is better, but if you cannot afford DSB- 250BT, go for JBL Charge 3 it’s not bad at all.

or $200, you expect powerful, engaging audio. That’s hard to squeeze out of a box this size, but the Denon Envaya DSB-250BT manages quite well. This is not the speaker to buy for a refined stereo listening experience, nor a 2.1-like sub-bass experience, but the powerful, balanced audio that these drivers pump out is impressive. Despite a nearly flawless performance, the Envaya isn’t perfect: While sound quaity is full, powerful and rich, it doesn’t have the treble bite some like.
