INTRODUCTION:

Jaybird Tarah Pro

The Jaybird Tarah Pro is the Updated version of the earbuds of its previous model Jaybird Tarah. The Jaybird Tarah Pro performs really well with the Bluetooth 5.0 and has pretty good comfort and fit. These earbuds are currently retailing for around a hundred and forty dollars.

Jaybird X4

The Jaybird X4 is the updated version of its previous model that is the Jaybird X3. The Jaybird X4 has sorted out all those problems which were there with its previous model. These earbuds are currently retailing for around a hundred and thirty dollars.

DESIGN:

Jaybird Tarah Pro

The Jaybird X4 and Tarah both have a rubberized cable but they’re also tangled free. The Tarah Pro on the other hand offers something you don’t normally see it’s a fabric braided cord. If I were to put this in my hands and mix it up as well they perform just as good and they are also tangle-free. They’re not to say the X4 and the Tarah have braided core designs they’re as good as the premium offerings out there on the market but once I tried the braided cord for the first time I realized that the X4 and the Tarah somewhat snag because of its very grippy texture and very grippy cord.

It’s more noticeable with those with running jackets or simply anything with a collar the Tarah Pro eliminates that fall together. Also what I love this about is the Pros they’re magnetic, basically sticking them together and it sounds so minimum. But during my time of everyday use in testing, it’s very practical when you’re working, bending over, and moving around they stay on your neck.

Jaybird X4

Everything once again feels quality built here. The earphones are plastic, that’s ergonomic, the cord is tangle free and from daily use of tossing this into my bag, it untangles every time. The cord itself is also very grippy with that rubber texture. The X4s are ipx7 certified with that seven certifications and usually mean these products are able to be submerged into water. Reading the instruction manual from Jaybird the X4s are designed to handle rain, mud, and it says outdoor adventures. They’re not designed for swimming, showering, or exposure to the pool or ocean water.

There are no buttons on the earphones themselves but everything is in the controller their pause-play, skipping, and going back on songs, adjusting volume, and answering phone calls are all done on the controller itself. The biggest concern while running though does this slap you across the face thankfully it doesn’t. The controller is far enough back and this is also new in the X4s, the new cord adjustment tab on the back works amazing by making the cable taut. This prevents a lot of that wire from bouncing around on the back of your neck and also in turn keep the controller from bouncing around as well.

COMFORT:

Jaybird Tarah Pro

The Tarah and Tarah Pro are completely different from X4. The Tarah Pro goes with one-piece construction and at first, they look bulkier. I was terrified as I might have fit issues but honestly, the one-piece construction made these on the best fitting sport earphones that I’ve personally used. The Tarah Pro with the extra silicon passing the tube also provided not only more contact area in the ears but by grippy contact area keeping the earphones even more so in place during vigorous activities.

Jaybird X4

As for comfort and fit, the X4 improved a lot from all the previous models. They finally stay in my ear but the X4 does have a two silicon piece construction there’s the ear tip and also the wing. The previous X3 tips and ear wings do fit until the X4 including the comply from ear tips. In general, the X4 is still not 100% the best fitting support earphones for me although they have their substantial improvements. I still felt the Jabra and JBL products stayed in my ear the best. With the X4 the ear flange helped a lot to keep them in but there was an ever so slight amount of play basically, again not that it would have been a bad product.

FEATURES:

These earphones provide excellent passive noise isolation, blocking out most of the outside world. You can hear your surroundings for safety purposes such as running in your city or cycling if you have some sketch people in your park you don’t want someone sneaking up to you, or on you as these earphone doesn’t sit in your ear canal or create a seal that blocks out the world. With a lack of a micro USB port, I think what Jaybird was doing was trying to create a sealed system rather than using flaps and covers to protect it from water and rain. The Tarah Pro offers a magnetic connection so you just need to snap it together.

The Bluetooth technology for those who want to future-proof themselves the Tarah Pro has Bluetooth 5.0 great for wireless range and battery efficiency. For Android users, these earphones had zero syncing issues on both YouTube and Netflix and also didn’t have any issues with YouTube or Netflix on the iPhone.

Jaybird X4

You get four sets of ear tips medium and large for both silicon and the comply foam ear tips, three sets of ear wings proprietary charging dongle make sure you don’t lose that, a shirt clip, and the protective carrying case if you decide to use it. I personally store the charging cable in the carrying case and then throw my earphones into my back.

They provide excellent passive noise isolation so it does block out the world. I was the most important of all they don’t hurt. Sound leaking was confirmed from my test to be very minimal even at high volumes. Something you might miss while running is there isn’t much wire chatter from the wire rubbing against your clothing or possibly bouncing. There’s also minimal amounts of wind noise when running depending on how loud you have your music that shouldn’t be an issue.

As for Bluetooth, Jaybird said that their Bluetooth is rated at 4.1 that’s the version number. I would have preferred to at least have seen with Bluetooth 5 being the best in not only distance for audio transmission but also power efficiency. With my testing leaving my phone on one side of the hallway and walking all the way down, I was able to get 66 linear feet of distance before the audio started to skip. It’s cut a little short since most very good performing brands are averaging around 70 to 80 linear feet to be fair 50 to 60 feet might be enough for most people.

BATTERY AND ITS LIFE:

Jaybird Tarah Pro

The Tarah Pro has just 5 minutes for two hours of playback which was a little bit more ideal. The company claims 14 hours of battery life on testing on an average and it remains for 6 hours and 45 minutes at 50% power at the 50% volume levels to dead.

Jaybird X4

Based on battery tests, Jaybird is climbing up to eight hours of use the same as the last model. I was able to get eight hours and three minutes to be precise from a full battery to die at 50% volume. Keep in mind the X4s also has fast charging, they advised 10 minutes equals one hour worth of playback. Total recharge time is at a reasonable two and a half hours from dead to full.

SOUND:

Jaybird Tarah Pro

The Tarah Pro is sounding the best but from my experience and actually sounded better stock from the factory. It’s slightly more expansive slightly more depth in its audio and slightly having more bass. Its the signature sound is including punchy bass somewhat bright and Ford mids and a lively in-your-face sound signature. The Tarah Pro is very close still very good compared to the competition but it is somewhat interesting to notice in its stock settings and a little bit more reserved. But to be fair it’s minute and you won’t notice it easily. In addition that app is again one of the best and the Pro also tunes very well.

Jaybird X4

The X4 is armed loud listening at around 60% for casual listening to 70% once I hear the song to kick me going. That is the X4s just like the X3s they have that in your face very much on live sound experience. I love the type of bass that this thing offers, it’s a very punchy just deep enough for your listening experience with zero distortion. The Jaybirds has that bass-boosted sound signature that I personally love perfect for EDM pop and is just basic enough to make basic hip-hop songs very much enjoyable. I love the amount of depth the Jaybirds have not only does it hit quite deep compared to many of the other competitors in his price range but the audio separation from low to the mid-range is quite impressive.

You can experience bass but then vocals and instruments sounded higher almost like it has vertical height. The mid-range is distinguished with detail and fidelity but for me, I like mine slightly more forward and bright as I noticed the upper mid-range and into the high frequencies needed a little bit more boost. Even at times towards the upper ranges, it sounded a little jumbled for some reason that’s where the app comes in clutch. The app allows you to adjust the sound quality and the earphones themselves are reasonably responsive to the adjustments.

WHICH ONE IS BETTER?

In my opinion, the Jaybird Tarah Pro is better than the Jaybird X4 because it has a better Bluetooth range, better performance, better sound quality, and better battery life than the Jaybird X4.
