Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Jaybird Vista

The Vistas are one of the earbuds models from Jaybird. These are truly wireless earbuds. They have IPX7 with them. They are basically featured to use during sport or Active needs. These earbuds are actually pretty good at their price.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus

The all-new Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus claimed to be among the best wireless earbuds with improved call quality, Spotify, quick summon controls, AKG audio, 11 hours of battery per earbud, and many more advanced features within the app.

DESIGN:

Jaybird Vista

I like them because they are truly wireless, which means that they work independently of each other, if you just want to keep in one ear as you’re trying to work and you don’t want it to be too obvious that you have earbuds in listening to music, just take out one and it’ll connect to your phone and you can keep the other one in your pocket.

Both of these earbuds have actual buttons on them, so you can press them, and you can assign different presses to do different actions. Just go into button controls and you can assign them to do different things like, a single press will bring up your Google assistant if you wanted to, or if you wanted to do a custom thing you can go ahead and do that as well. You also have options for the double press, and press and hold.

I personally didn’t like this because I found myself pressing too much onto my ear and because these go into your ear canal I didn’t think that was something that I wanted to do on a regular basis. I wish they just would have included some sort of touch control. Again this was just not an ideal situation I found myself pressing the buds a little bit too much into my ear, so I really don’t use these button controls, but if you want to you can go ahead and enable that.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus

The box says they have 11 hours of playtime, they’ve enhanced speakers, they have three mics for enhanced audio quality on the phone, and they have wireless charging. So honestly it seems like the full package there.

Looking at the case here, we have essentially it’s a high gloss case, very shiny, very nice, smooth feel to it, and it feels pretty premium honestly. When you open and close the lid, it’s not as clippy as we saw in the past where they just kind of slam shut, and open this one is a little bit stiffer, but it feels nice. So, it’s nice and resistant. There has a magnetic closure of course, and so you can see when you open it you can kind of keep it at any angle you want.

Inside we have an LED right there, that’s the indicator for the battery of the earbuds, on the front we have the indicator for the battery of the case itself. On the bottom we have wireless charging, so you can put this on any kind of Qi wireless charger, or the back of a galaxy phone, or on a charging pad and that’s a really nice feature that I love about these earbuds. Then on the back, we have the USB-C charging port right there, so these should charge very very quickly.

We have a microphone on the inside, then we have a microphone on the top, and on the bottom, so three microphones. On the outside, we do have the classic touchpad, which is a little bit more advanced now than it was before, because not only can we tap it once, twice, three times, or tap and hold, but there are also testing out some new features, where you can tap the corner to change the volume.

COMFORT:

Jaybird Vista

One thing that I really like about the Jaybird Vistas is that they provided a very secure fit in my ear. When I was running, they didn’t fall out. Just walking, commuting everyday life, they did not fall out as well. These do not have noise-canceling abilities, but because of the way they fit in your ear, they kind of lockout the noise around you. Because of this extra-large kind of silicon tip here, it just really goes into your ear canal and blocks out a lot of the sound around you. For example, when people are talking around me, I couldn’t hear them but when I stopped my music I was able to hear their conversation.

These are not noise-canceling, but they do cancel out a lot of noise around you, just because of how they fit in your ear. Also, I did not experience any fatigue with these earbuds. I listen to them for about three hours straight one day and I did not experience any fatigue, any tiredness, or anything like that. So, even though they might look a little large they actually are pretty light and they fit really nicely. Thanks to these wingtip design so, definitely no problem with secure and fit.

I also went for a run with these they did not fall out, I’ve been walking around the city with them they’ve never fallen out once. So, definitely a huge plus when it comes to securely fit in my ear, again you just want to make sure you get the perfect fit and these will stay in.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus

Looking at the earbuds themselves, you’ll see there is a really similar shape to the original Galaxy buds and they are really compact and really comfortable. That’s something I really like about these earbuds here and if you don’t think that they’re comfortable, you can swap out the ear tips, swap out the wingtips to whatever you want. They come with three different ear tips, so you can make sure it’s a proper seal in your ear, so you have proper passive noise reduction, and you have the best sound quality possible.

On top of that, the three different wingtips mean that these won’t fall out of your ears. After using the original Galaxy buds for over a year, I’ll say that it’s definitely true, it works very well, I can work out and doesn’t, didn’t ever fall out in pretty much any workout I do.

I really like the form factor of these earbuds, they’re very small, very compact, and they fit really well. I love how comfortable they are, and it’s easy to forget that they’re even in your ears, especially with the ambient mode you can walk around, you can work all day at a desk, and just have absolute comfort and not worry about any kind of discomfort from these earbuds.

FEATURES:

Jaybird Vista

The connection is Bluetooth 5.0, which is very very good. I had no problems with these connecting, here in crowded place sometimes earbuds just don’t do a good job, they lose connection because we have a lot of interference but thankfully and happily, I did not experience that at all with the Jaybird Vistas and when you do connect these when you take them out of the case, they connect almost instantaneously to your phone. You can see they are independent, so if you just want one earbud, you just want to take a phone call from one, you can do so. So, I really like that.

Another thing that I liked about them is when you are watching YouTube when you are watching a movie, TV whatever the case may be, there’s no latency, so there is no delay between what’s on your phone, what you see, and what you hear. Latency problems are a thing of the past if you get some really great sounding earbuds.

The Jaybird vistas are premium earbud and because of that, you have your own app which is something I like seeing more and more because if there is some firmware update for the buds, to give you a little bit better sound, better connectivity, whatever the case is you get a little update. Since receiving this, so Jaybird is doing a good job keeping up to date and bringing updates to us.

What I also like about the Jaybird Vistas is that you have an auto-off feature. So, after 15 or 60 minutes of idle time, it’ll shut off the buds. This just means that you’re not gonna pick them up and find out that you’re out of choice and that’s basically it with the app they do some presets music here and things like that.

In terms of working out with the Jaybird Vistas, they are IPX7, so they say you can submerge them in water for about 30 minutes. I’m not gonna go ahead and do that, because I don’t really want to put that to the test, but that just means that sweat should not be an issue with these. So, if you sweat a lot as you’re running or working out, you should not have any issues with the Jaybird Vistas, and they also offer a warranty, so if they do crap out because of that, they probably will replace them.

I also didn’t like that we don’t have touch controls on them. I think a touch-sensitive bud would have been a lot better than having to press these into your ear, which did not feel nice to me and I stopped using these controls on the earbud. The sound quality was excellent, the fit was excellent, and the battery life is actually pretty good.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus

These are also IPX to water-resistant which is nice, if you’re working out and you are sweaty or if it’s raining. You really shouldn’t have a problem with these earbuds, they should be working just fine. If you look at the inside of the earbud, you will see that there are two little nodes right there, that’s how you charge them two little copper pads right there.

Then we have a proximity sensor right there, so when you take this out of your ear or put it in your ear, it knows to play or pause. It’s something I really like about the Galaxy buds, in particular, is that they kind of they just work like they do a really good job of having a seamless experience, where if you take one out of your ear but the other ones still in it knows not to pause and if you take them both out it knows that it should pause. So, it just has a really seamless experience, when you take it out of the case it connects, when you put it back in it disconnects. Overall very nice design.

There are some of the ways you can adjust your earbud within the app. You connect these, it pops up on your screen with Android, and it says what the battery level is of each earbud and the case, so that’s definitely really nice right there. Then all we have to do is open up the Galaxy apps, you’ll see again at the top it shows you the case and each earbud battery, then we have ambient sound and what they have now, is actually you can select the level of the ambient sound.

Then going to the touchpad, it gets more interesting here, when you tap and hold you can actually go and have a voice command, you can have ambient sound, you can go volume up or down right or left of course, and you can open Spotify, so you have to choose which one you want and admittedly they don’t have more than just Spotify.

Find my earbuds still exist, so you can go, and if your earbuds are lost, or you know sitting around if you drop them, these are little spheres. Find my earbuds is definitely very helpful, it starts off very quiet with a chirping you can hear there and then it starts getting louder and so it gets loud and it should be easier to find then. They added some new features like double-tapping the edge of the earbud means that you can turn the volume up or down by tapping the corner of your earbuds. So, I think that’s a really cool extra control to have on the earbud.

The controls for these are very straightforward on the touchpads if you single tap, it plays or pauses the song, if you double-tap it goes forward a song if you triple-tap it goes back a song, and then touching and holding will give you the option to do whatever I informed you in the app. If you double-tap the corner right there, it can turn the volume up or down.

With the PC it’s also very easy, if you just go up to add a new device in Bluetooth, open up your earbuds, and select Bluetooth right there, it should find them and then we can connect, so we see them right there, we’ll click on that and they will connect to the laptop. You can also connect to iPhones or basically any other device that’s capable of Bluetooth 5.0, and with an iPhone, if you touch and hold the touchpad, you’ll actually summon Siri and it works very well.

The overall feature set right here, I love how Samsung incorporated many different things into this, especially within the app right there, you have advanced touch controls, you have ambient mode, you can change the volume of the ambient mode, you can change the EQ, you can find your earbuds, and of course there is also the labs feature, we can tap the corner and change the volume. It’s just a big feature set that these can do a lot more than just regular earbuds, and that’s where you can really start to flex the technology here of truly wireless earbuds and the really amazing things they can do that traditional wireless earbud could not.

BATTERY AND ITS LIFE:

Jaybird Vista

The battery life is super important while these aren’t a battery killer, they’re no slouch either when they are fully charged you’ll get six hours on each bud, and the case will give you an additional 10 hours, which charges again with USB-C, definitely a plus with USB-C. If you’re in a hurry, just charge these up for five minutes and you’ll get an hour’s worth of usage probably enough to get you home, but if not fully charging them takes about two hours.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus

As far as charging is concerned, we should be getting one hour of battery after three minutes of charging, which is absolutely incredible. So, you just put it on the charger for literally one song and then you’re good for another hour.

The box claims that there are 11 hours of playback time in the earbuds, but they say you should have 15 hours of talk time and you should be getting 22 hours, when you include the case then, which is obviously very impressive in my opinion.

The way to do charging is dropping it on the back your phone and the light turns on and you’ll see that it is charging. I was getting about 8.2 hours of battery per charge on each earbud, it says it should be 11. I was listening in about 55 or 65 percent volume, so you could potentially get 11 at lower volumes.

SOUND:

Jaybird Vista

You have an EQ here, which you can customize. If you want to create your own sound, if you want to create something that you enjoy more listening to, if you don’t find it on their presets, you can go ahead and do that. I mostly leave it on bringing the bass, because I think that’s a nice in-between for, when I’m listening to R&B, hip hop, EDM, or anything like that. I just like listening to a little bit more bass.

Speaking about music, that’s very important when you buy a pair of earbuds. I can say that I’ve been very happy with the quality of these. The bass was there, the mids were there, the highs were there, was just a very pleasing sound, especially for earbuds these are not over the ear, these are not extremely large, they’re actually pretty small and I thought the sound stage was really nice on these. I would tell you if they didn’t sound good, but they actually sound superb. I was listening to hip hop, R&B, country podcasts, everything and I’ve been really happy with these especially with the ability to change that EQ. So, for me, these are definitely a win.

I was not happy with the phone call quality. I’m not someone that takes talking phone calls but, when I do I like them to sound crisp, I like them to sound clear and that just was not the case on these earbuds a lot of times. I just heard too much of the background noise around me, if you’re an acquired environment, if you’re in an office or at home they actually sound pretty decent, but definitely not stellar, definitely not superb.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus

We can set the ambient mode within the app, either off if you just want the passive noise blocking, so you don’t hear your surroundings, or you can go to low, medium, or high, meaning the higher it is the more outside sound you’re going to hear and it plays it back in your ears, there’s also an extra high mode. Then we have our equalizer here, I don’t have a custom one, unfortunately, but these do sound pretty good. I usually just go to dynamic.

Going to advanced in the app, which allows you to use ambient mode during calls. I find that’s very helpful so that I can hear myself talking, so you don’t end up yelling in a kind of quiet environment. So, it’s just a really nice feature to have there.

Honestly, after wearing these I will say the average listener, just your everyday person looking for a great pair of earbuds will think these sound awesome because they really sound good there, they have a nice balance. You can EQ them in the app and overall they have pretty decent sound quality.

I would say that they don’t have the punchiest base, that you see with like the Jabra Elite 75t and the overall sound quality maybe if you are an audiophile, you might not find these to be perfect, but they definitely sound really good. If you’re listening to Spotify or just one of the apps that don’t necessarily have wi-fi, these are really good.

The sound quality on both ends the microphones and on the speaker’s themselves, I think they sound really good, when you’re listening to music and being on the phone people have said that it sounds great, it has excellent sound quality when they’re talking to me. But I notice with these is that the ambient mode seems to have a slight delay to it when I’m talking I can definitely hear myself, but it sounds a little bit weird. That’s not to say that other earbuds don’t have that delay, but it’s just something that’s kind of really noticeable with these earbuds.

2.4 galaxy buds plus 3

WHICH TO BUY?

In my opinion, if you are looking for earbuds only for the purpose of using it for your sport and active needs, then you should go for the Jaybird Vista, but if you are looking for earbuds for all-purpose needs, if you are looking for a premium and stylish earbuds, then you should go for the Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus which have a lot many features.
