Detail Review

INTRODUCTION:

Logitech G403 Prodigy

The Logitech G403 Prodigy is a simple wired mouse with some basic features for gaming. This mouse also comes in a wireless version. The design and the shape of this mouse will give good comfort and the customizations are also very useful.

Logitech G203 Prodigy

Logitech G203 in my opinion is a modest gaming mouse. This is a very cheap and simple mouse for gaming in Logitech. You will get some good experience or we can say basic experience with this mouse.

DESIGN & COMFORT:

Logitech G403 Prodigy

Without the ten-gram weight out of the mouse was coming at 3.15 ounces or 90 grams and with that 10-gram weight adding, it comes at 3.55 ounces or 100 grams.

The back of the mouse is designed in that way where you can’t rest your palm perfectly, it will just slide down. Instead of resting the palm on the mouse like all the normal mouse, in this one, your half of the palm will just slide off one side which gives little pain. If you have or medium-sized hand then this problem will not affect you.

Logitech G203 Prodigy

The design of the mouse itself can be described as modest. There’s nothing too outstanding here which is something we appreciate. The only downside I can see to this design is in my opinion, the non-braided cable.

The oversimplification and features in this mouse have nake me questioning its comfort, I mean the build quality and feel. Despite the mouse is only 85 grams, the plastic quality in my opinion is a little tacky. Another thing I wish was improved upon is the ergonomics. Although I do like simplistic designs, I like them when they are ergonomic and this mouse in my opinion could have done a bit better. I found that the sides were not very grippy and when in heated situations, the sweat on our hands made the plastic a bit slippery to grip. We feel that this could have been solved with some rubbery material on the sides.

FEATURES & PERFORMANCE:

Logitech G403 Prodigy

This is a nice mouse. The response is good and it glides very smoothly. The buttons are also nice to use and the front buttons look separated from the body which gives a clicky feel. The scroll wheel just feels so nice, it’s nice and smooth, the DPI is hidden underneath there. The side grips are actually like a nice rubber. There are six programmable buttons and all of them can be customized. The sensor used here is PMW 3366 sensor which performs really good. The performance is really nice, especially for this price range. As this is from Logitech, you don’t have to worry about the performance.

This is the heaviest Mouse cable I have used yet. If it gets stuck on a sudden you truly feel it. The cable is also somewhere adjustable but the back design is not that easily adjustable. The mouse glides very easily and smooth, you don’t have to push it very hard. Overall, the use of this mouse is good enough for the price.

Logitech G203 Prodigy

It has four pads and a sensor. On the right side, we find two programmable buttons and on the left side, there is nothing. On the top, this is where it gets a bit more interesting, you have your usual left and right-click, middle mouse button, DPI toggle, and the single sleek RGB swoop. My experiences with the mouse have been quite pleasant. The scroll wheel was very basic. In our testing, the clicking of the buttons was pretty standard.

The sensor used here is PMW 3366 sensor which is little old technology but still works as the competitors. The performance of this mouse is nice and the response is also really good. On top of all, it is a wired mouse, so you don’t have to worry about the performance. As it has four pads on the bottom, it also glides smooth.

SOFTWARE:

Logitech G403 Prodigy

The software is really nice to tell you what device you have connected and you have onboard memory, so you don’t need the software active and if you click this you have automatic game detection so you can save a profile per game. It’ll save DPI and button configurations you have per game and it’ll just automatically detect it as you go through there. Also over here, you have button customization where you can adjust all your preset buttons and your DPI which you have five settings that you can adjust by your DPI which is nicely recessed. You can adjust a DPI by increments of 50.

Here, you also have your RGB settings which you can adjust the color of your scroll wheel and then your logo in the back with some preset colors or your custom color. Also, you can choose a logo or scroll wheel, so you can adjust them all to what you’d like or just have them both set to the same fixed color, color cycle, or breathing effect. I love the minimal RGB on it. You can do your surface tuning which just tunes it to whatever mouse pad you use. There is a heat map, it tells you to press it or record it and tell you which buttons you’re pressing the most.

Logitech G203 Prodigy

When it came to the customization of the mouse, it was very simple. I use the Logitech Gaming Software to customize the DPI and RGB color on the mouse. You change many more things in the software like RGB color, its brightness, its effect, scrolling speed, DPI range, etc,. The overall experience is this mouse was pretty good. You get what you paid for.

WHICH TO BUY?

The Logitech G403 is a simple mouse with some basic gaming features and there nothing very special in this mouse. If you want a very down-to-earth Mouse experience then Logitech G203 is the mouse for you. If you do, however, care heavily about ergonomics and comfort, I would look the other way. Despite the simplistic design, this mouse can almost fit any setup and making it a great addition to your mouse arsenal if you’re on the market for a cheap and affordable Mouse.

In my opinion, G203 is also better to buy just by considering the price. There is a $30 price gap and I didn’t see a major difference between the G203 and G403 except for the design. So, I think the G203 is a bit less and you don’t have to spend the extra money. But, if you like the G403’s design more then that’s also not too costly.

The Logitech Prodigy G203 offers a high DPI setting among budget mice along with accurate performance, and it’s backed by useful companion software too. Still, its design is lacking; its all-plastic shell feels slippery, and the right-and left-mouse buttons are too mushy and loud.

Okay it’s missing some options such as adjustable weight systems, multiple buttons on the side to really customise your gaming experience to your hand and a braided cable to reduce fraying, but you can’t complain at the price they’re selling this for. It’s a great gaming mouse and one that I can see taking over people’s desktops quickly.
