Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Logitech K780

The Logitech K780 is one of the popular keyboards from Logitech. This keyboard almost looks like the elder brother of the K380 keyboards. The difference between the K380 and the k780 is that the K380 does not have the number pad while the K780 does have the number pad. This keyboard is retailing for around a hundred and seven dollars currently on Amazon.

Logitech MX Keys

Logitech’s been pushing a lot of cool peripherals out lately and one of them is the MX Keys keyboard. This keyboard also looks and performs like the Craft keyboard from Logitech. The only difference between them is the crown in the Logitech Craft. This keyboard is retailing for around a hundred dollars currently on Amazon.

DESIGN:

Logitech K780

This keyboard is very well designed, the build quality is solid, and the finishing is excellent. This keyboard is heavier than usual compared to other keyboards. They are heavier than usual weight so that when you place a large tablet on the keyboard, this is not going to topple over, and you can also have your phone by the side and this is still very bottom-heavy.

If you want to put your tablet that has a case, make sure the thickness there on the keyboard to place your tablet is exactly one centimeter or less, if it’s more it’s not going to fit there. This is a very nice angle for me to work with. There are a few pieces of rubber on the bottom of the keyboard for grip, and they are very grippy. There’s no way the keyboard will move on the table. Behind the keyboard, there is a flap there, where the two replaceable AAA batteries are kept and the USB receiver is kept.

Logitech MX Keys

As far as the build quality of this keyboard, Logitech really outdid itself this time with this MX keyboard. This is their first MX Keys series keyboard but compared to their other keyboards this one isn’t a whole difference here. This is a very high-quality-looking keyboard with a nice durable metal build. The design of this keyboard is stunning, when you look at this keyboard it’s just eye-catching.

If we look at the size of this keyboard, we can tell it is a full-size keyboard which means that you have the arrow keys on the side as well as the number pad. It’s not exactly great for portability if you’re on the go all the time but if you have a stationary setup, stay at home, or maybe your office, then this keyboard is gonna fit really nicely and comfortably in your setup.

At the back of the keyboard, we can see that there are rubber grips on the back which help really grip the keyboard to the desk. It’s almost like gluing it, these grips are really grippy, and you really shouldn’t have any issues with the keyboard sliding around when you’re actually using the keyboard.

Unfortunately, there are no adjustable legs on the back of this keyboard, so you’re gonna have to use the keyboard as is. It’s propped up about half an inch, which I personally found fairly comfortable in most situations that I was using the keyboard. On the top side of the keyboard, we can see that there’s an on and off switch it’s pretty self-explanatory and right next to it we have a USB-C to the USB charging port.

FEATURES:

Logitech K780

The main selling points for this keyboard are you can connect this to multiple devices, for example, you can connect this to Windows to Mac and to your tablet or your phone, and switch between those devices very easily just by pressing one of the three shortcut buttons. The second selling point is you can connect this using either Bluetooth or you can use the USB wireless receiver that’s included. The third selling point is there’s an area there just above the function keys, where you can use to place your tablet and your phone. So, this keyboard is fantastic for people who are using multiple devices and computers.

There is no light indicator for the caps lock, there are only light indicators for the three buttons on the top there, and a power light indicator. There is also no backlight for the keys. This keyboard is designed for use with Windows and Mac, so for Windows there are control, functions, start, and alternate. These are the same keys you can find on many of the windows keyboards out there. On the right side, the number pad is kind of close to the key, so sometimes when I’m using the arrow keys, I have the tendency to hit the zero key, it happens way too often. When you get this keyboard, it’s actually already paired to the USB receiver. All you have to do is to pair this keyboard to two other devices or computers that you are using. The pairing process really easy, and the pairing process for Mac iOS and Windows 10 is going to be pretty similar.

The function keys are dual-function keys, so if you want to switch between the devices you just have to press one of the three shortcut buttons. If you need to access the function keys like the F1, F2, F3, you have to press this function key shortcut to get F1 to F12 and these are the various shortcuts. We also have some media playback buttons there, and there are the volume controls and you can also take a screenshot of your desktop using these buttons. This is a fantastic keyboard for those who want to use a keyboard with multiple devices more specifically for people who want to use the keyboard with your tablet or with your phone. There are other Logitech keyboards that you can use with your tablets they also come with that thing where you can place your tablet but there are smaller keyboards so you can just place your tablet or your phone but you cannot place like two devices side by side like this. The downside for this keyboard would be the lack of backlighting and the keys are too close to the number pad.

Logitech MX Keys

When I received this keyboard, inside the box it includes a USB dongle that lets you connect the keyboard via USB to USB- C charging cable, and an instruction manual. This keyboard is compatible with Mac, Windows, and Linux, so no matter what device you’re on Logitech’s got you covered and that’s something I really love about Logitech. Most of their products are actually compatible with most devices, a lot of peripherals out there they’re only compatible with certain software’s like maybe Apple only or Windows only, but Logitech they’re always open to any software if you got a computer most likely any Logitech device will be able to connect to it.

As far as the light-up keys, these things have some pretty good features. The first thing you’re able to do with the keys is you’re able to adjust the brightness from a low, mid, and high, and there are a few options in between I think you have six total brightness levels. Then you’re also able to have a detection setting, which is basically if your hands get close to the keyboard it’s going to light up and then when you take your hands off the keyboard dims out. The keys themselves are actually pretty different from most keyboards out there. These keys here have a very soft smooth touch to them, it’s a very light lightweight sandpaper feeling. Unlike most keyboards, they have this really hard plastic feeling.

To actually connect this keyboard to a device, you have a few methods for doing that. You can either use Bluetooth, the USB dongle that the keyboard came with, or the USB-C cable. The great thing about the USB-C cable is that you’re able to charge while actually using the keyboard. So, the battery life won’t really be an issue.

PERFORMANCE:

Logitech K780

As far as the battery life on this keyboard with two AAA batteries, based on my past experience with other Logitech keyboards you are probably going to get like months of battery life out of those two batteries. When it comes to typing, it still feels really good. There are good key travel and very nice feedback. My overall typing experience on this keyboard is excellent. Overall, the typing experience is affected by the position of these two keys there the control and function buttons, and the zero key near the arrow keys. Personally, I prefer to use this USB receiver because I sometimes have issues with Bluetooth connectivity.

Logitech MX Keys

The battery life on this keyboard will last for up to 10 days with the lights on, and with the lights of the keyboard will last for up to five months. So, depending on your usage and your environment you may or may not want to turn off the lights. There’s something that’s really Pleasant about touching these keys and actually holding them, and I just really enjoy having the tip of my fingers on these keys here. When typing on this keyboard, the click depth from the top of the key to the bottom of the keyboard is only 20 millimeters, which is really short compared to most keyboards out there. The benefit of having a short click distance on the keys is that your fingers won’t get strained over time as you’re using the keyboard.

Logitech MX Keys

WHICH ONE IS FOR YOU?

If you’re looking for something a little more budget, I would recommend the MX Keys because this keyboard has really nice quality to it, works well, and also, the backlight in this keyboard is really good at this price point. It’s just for people who are looking to up their setup and just have a really premium setup. while the Logitech K780 is has a little lower level build quality compared to MX keys.
