Detail Review

INTRODUCTION:

Logitech M525

Logitech M525 is a great bounce for work as it is precise and very responsive. This costs about 70% less than the apple magic mouse, it’s significantly better than the magic mouse. It has the most attractive features that include high precision tracking and long battery life.

Logitech M510

Logitech M510 is a surprisingly good Mouse for the price tag but is really common. It is used in light gaming applications that don’t require too many buttons. It’s a really cheap mouse, great for office work as its sensor is not designed for games and doesn’t perform well with very quick mouse movement. As a gaming mouse, it doesn’t have a low click latency and is heavy but overall it’s good.

DESIGN & COMFORT:

Logitech M525

The ergonomic design will allow you to focus on your work without feeling any stress, that ordering expensive mice may put in your wrist. Its design makes it much easier to use. Also, the outside is made of durable plastic with a glossy finish. The durability of this mouse is really good. This is meant to be ergonomic but,  this definitely will not be your ultimate ergonomic Mouse, this will also not be your best gaming mouse and the optical sensor will not work on its glass surface. This will not be the lightest Mouse as the two batteries will add some weight to it. The regular price is $39.99. It does come in different colors, the white one is very nice but that one will cost you up to $60.

The soft rubber grips make it perfect for natural comfort, also expected in M525 to work great on smooth surfaces. It’s a great mouse, so much better than using the laptop touchpad, it glides smoothly with the press of the buttons, and the roller moves with ease. Soft rubber grips conform to your hand to be naturally comfortable and the compact size makes it easy to take with you wherever you use your computer at home, at work, or anywhere else.

Logitech M510

It has a contoured shape with gently curved sides, a broad palm area, and soft rubber grips. In the mouse you’ve kind of got the gloss black edge around the entire bit of the mouse, that does collect a couple of fingerprints every now and again. This is super durable, it hasn’t worn down, some mice get dirty or the trackball and sometimes gets a little loose, this mouse has not faltered in any way. The build quality is absolutely incredible. The rubber sides have held up very well. There is a little bit of where just from the oils of your hand, but still makes it surprisingly comfortable.

It’s got a very nice rubberized textured grip around the outside and that is really comfortable, depending on how you grip the mouse, it’s comfortable in many different patterns.

This is also a really inexpensive Mouse, it retails for $40 and Logitech is kind of like Apple, their prices never ever change. It does come with the unifying receiver and even though the mouse is ten years old it is still on their current product line on Logitech’s website.

FEATURES & PERFORMANCE:

Logitech M525

It will be compatible with most versions of Windows, Mac OS, Linux, and Chrome OS. Some of the features like the back and forth page button will not work on any of the Mac. The left and right-click buttons are not too soft which will allow you for a precise click. The micro precise scroll wheel will work like a charm allowing you to navigate with ease and if you have a long page, you can always click on it and it will
activate the whole mouse to work as a scroll feature as you move the mouse up and down, it will also scroll the page open now. The forward page buttons when browsing the Internet will allow you to only simply go back to the previous page and return to the page where you left in a matter of seconds. The mouse scrolls fast which some people might not like.

When you’re ready to take your mouse, you can pop the top cover by sliding the mechanical lock on the bottom and you can hide the unifying receiver inside. The unifying receiver will allow you to connect up to six devices. Also, it will function within a range of 10 meters. The USB receiver is stored inside the mouse where the batteries are located.

Logitech M510

It does come in a handful of colors. You’ve got a couple of buttons on the side sort of like a back and forward, it’s not a rocker like some of them have sort of a rocker switch like you’d find as a volume switch on your smartphone. This is different, it’s actually two distinct buttons, you can kind of see the separation in there. Extra controls right under your fingers, the more you do faster back and forward buttons, side-to-side scrolling. The unifying technology can connect up to six unifying devices through the same tiny receiver. It only comes in three colors red, blue, and gray what they call silver.

Up top, you have the scroll wheel and the arrows there that also goes left and right, so you could technically scroll side to side on some of the very wide web pages or use this for anything you want. All the buttons on this mouse are programmable, so even if you want to use the right-click to open a menu or something like that, you can make that happen or use this mouse for just media commands like fast-forward and scrolling through footage and other things like that.

On the bottom, you have the sensor with a high-performance laser. Around the edge there, you’ve got four little pads and they work really well, they don’t collect too much dust and they are replaceable if you really want to replace them. There is a symbol that you will notice there, it is the Logitech unifying symbol and it comes with a nano receiver that looks like a very small receiver that you’ll plug into your computer and you can actually connect up to six different Logitech devices using just one of this. So, if you have a wireless keyboard and a mouse and maybe a microphone or multiple mice or whatever you got like a wireless Numpad, this will connect up to six devices.

Some of the cons that I’ve heard are inaccurate and jerky pointer movement and I do not see that at all, I think that’s more user error than anything, you can obviously adjust all of these settings in menus. The stiff scroll wheel can be tiring over long periods of use because the scroll wheel is a little bit stiff like it’s tactile. It does not have a free-scrolling mode but in some of the mice you, can click the mouse button in, and then it free scrolls, this one does not do that.

Logitech Unifying software updates that they’ve come out with over a couple of
years. Depending on what program you’re in, this will also change the button
presets. So, if we open a certain game like Steam games these might reload and crouch, but if I open a spreadsheet, this might switch between spreadsheets or switch between Windows or forums, while left and right become the forward and back button or maybe buttons to highlight. So, you can really customize this little $20 Mouse to do quite a few things.

BATTERY:

Logitech M525

The battery expectancy for this mouse is 36 months i.e three years, thanks to the on and off switch and smart sleep mode feature that comes with the mouse. The light indicator will let you know when the battery is getting low by turning red or it will light green to let you know that battery is good so you were never surprised.

Logitech M510

The battery cover is pretty self-explanatory, they do provide batteries. The battery life is 24 months. Battery life is really good. The mouse has an on/off switch, smart sleep mode, and battery life indicator. When the battery life is low, the color will change from green to red. Also, if you travel with this mouse, there is a spot unifying receiver with a little nook for it there, so you don’t lose that in your travels or if you switch between computers.

M510

WHICH TO BUY?

Logitech M525 and Logitech M510 both of them are great and work reliably. Both have similar performance. Both have laser-grade advanced optical tracking sensors with 1000 DPI resolution. Logitech M525 battery life is high, it can last for 3 years using a pair of AA batteries, while Logitech M510 can only last for 2 years on a pair of AA batteries.

If you need the additional buttons, go for Logitech M510 as it is offering an additional 2 buttons and if you don’t need additional buttons, go for Logitech M525. It has a better battery life, the design is also more elegant, it is more ideal for palm grip users. Choose the mouse based on your comfort and preference.
