The LS31 is a wireless headset designed for gamers at $150. It is quite expensive but the comfort definitely reflects that price tag. Th sound quality for gaming and also for music works well.
The LS30 is the preceded version of LS31, so it does have some minor differences. The design also looks so same as LS31. The comfort level and the sound quality are just nice for every purpose like gaming and music and so on.
The build of the headset is very nice and sturdy. The design of the headset is more like a headphone. The materials they used also feel sturdy and durable. So, they are not gonna break that much easier.
You’ve got 50 mm drivers, you’ve got leather padding around those drivers. You’ve got soft padding on the top. Color-wise, it comes in a white or cream or you can get it in a kind of like black and silver.
The ear cups are extremely soft and probably the most comfortable ear cups I’ve ever felt on a headset. The same goes for the memory foam padding on the top of the headset. I played up to four hours with these on which is super comfortable.
It is a heavy headset weighing in at close to a pound, it is nearly double the weight of many headsets. However, due to the padding on the top of the headset, it is still reasonably comfortable to wear over long periods of time. The thermals of the headset are also not great. The ear cups do not disperse heat well. So, I do usually need to take them off for a few minutes after wearing them for a while to allow my ears and head to cool down.
Now, the headset is comfortable, you can see how easily detach it and also you can lay the headset flat if you choose to. So that’s something you can easily do. The padding of the earcup and the material used outside of the earcups are nice and feel comfortable.
It has two main buttons, one for muting audio and one for muting the mic. They are located on the sides of the headset and are very large, so they are easy to hit quickly. It also has two dials, one for game audio and one for chat audio. The dials are very easy to turn and are located in a good place right around the two buttons.
The headset connects to your computer with a USB receiver with an indicator light that shows when the headset is connected. It can also connect to other devices with a 3.5-millimeter cable. On the bottom left of the ear cup, we have the power button, the input for the 3.5-millimeter cable connecting to a phone or other device, the mic port, the charging port, and the status indicator LED. On the right side, we have the equalizer button that controls the bass, middle, and treble levels.
The volume control knobs also pose a slight issue. The audio cannot be controlled with your computer’s controls. So, the dial is the only control you have over the audio other than the in-app control. When you turn the dials to about the last inch the quiet sight the audio completely cuts out. So, if you like your volume quiet, you might have a slight issue with that. The headset also has no accompanying software but that’s okay because the headset has a lot of onboard controls.
This is a wireless headset but you also do have a 3.5 mm jack to connect to the Xbox one controller as well as also PC detachable microphone there. Now, the battery life of the headset is as market 15 hours, I got about maybe 17 or so. We have rechargeable batteries.
A power buttons on the left ear cup. The right ear cup has EQ, nothing too fantastic but they serve their purpose. Now, the right ear cup you do have a gaming chat balance. On the left ear cup, it’s the overall volume and on that does the mute. Now, a bunch of accessories to come with it, you have your Xbox One or Xbox 360 chat cable for the controller that’s how you actually perform chat on the Xbox One. You’ve got a 3.5 mm jack cable for mobile as well as also PC and you’ve got a micro USB cable to recharge the headset.
Now, it also comes with its own USB receiver for the wireless connectivity and its own proprietary optical cable that one has a specific end for this USB controller. So, to connect it to your Xbox one and ps4, you connect that proprietary and into the USB dongle, you plug the dongle in the back of your Xbox one and you plug the other end into the optical port of your Xbox one and that’s it. On the ps4, you can also customize the volume of the headset controller, adjust the microphone levels, things like that but as long as the input/output is selected, you are all set.
The quality of the mic overall is good but nothing special. The mic is detachable and extremely flexible. It also has an LED on it that indicates when it is muted. The LED is quite bright and I will say it is distracting to have a red light in the corner of your vision but you can turn the mic over because of the flexible arm.
The microphone picks up really really well. It has dual mic capability. So, if you don’t want to use the boom mic, you can take it out, and then you just have a regular headset.
This headset has a detachable boom mic. it also flexible, you can adjust that wherever you want. So, you can put that close to your mouth or as you wish.
As we play a game from the ps4 because you’d be quite impressed with what you actually have like the mic sound. Using this for a while, I have to say the mic is incredibly good, pristine, and clear. The one thing, it will pick up punctuations and ‘p’ sounds and things that tend to pop that is the one thing that mic has some failure in, I won’t be called that of failure but least some setbacks. In terms of just pure audio quality, it’s clear and it is crisp.
The audio quality of this headset is good. It is not anything revolutionary but it is nice for gaming or listening to music and watching videos. It has a built-in 7.1 digital surround sound.
It doesn’t provide you extra surround sound features like LS41 but it does sound good. It also gives you nice noise reduction by those closed type ear cups. So, it will reduce the environmental noise around you as much as possible and may give you an isolation feeling.
The audio quality is fantastic. Those 50mm drivers really resonate with the wave in noise isolating cups handle of this headset. So, you get some really rich sound, especially even listening to music but in gaming, you get that nice feel overall.
I do like the audio quality from the headset and though I was quite impressed with what LucidSound is done, to give the sound of footsteps. It’s just really solid audio quality, nothing too fantastic but very solid.
WHICH TO BUY?
There is nothing that much differed between these two headsets even the price is the same which is $150. So, I think the LS31 has better sound quality other than that everything is almost the same. It will be better to buy the LS31.
