INTRODUCTION:

This is one of the expensive model of the Sennheiser. This headphone has lot more small features which will be handy. This headphone also has noise cancelling technology and also the sound is great. 

Bose QuietComfort QC 35 II  

This headphone is very light and comfortable for all and you can use this for any long hours. This headphone also has active noise cancelling and the sound is also good. Actually, the design is made  quiet like for the travelers. 

DESIGN: 

Sennheiser Momentum 3  

The headphones should be folder when they’re off, to switch them on you turn them on by literally unfolding them. Now, this might seem ingenious to some people but I would have much preferred an on and off. Sennheiser claims that when they’re around your neck, they’d go into an idle state.

The design is not very stylish or looks great but nothing goes wrong in the design. There’s a metal adjustment on both the side of the headband and except that all the rest is the premium plastic. It’s also flexible. 

Bose QuietComfort QC 35 II  

When you take them out, they feel super lightweight and they also have that premium feel that feels like it’s worth every single penny. It’s hard to describe what it feels like until you actually hold them yourself.

The outer part is corrosion resistant and made out of glass filled nylon, so this means that it won’t wear out like some other headphones do so they’re made with some really high-quality materials. When I wore them, I honestly didn’t feel a thing. They feel really light on your head. They block out a lot of noise, even when the ANC is off, and I’ve noticed this myself. Overall, the materials used are built to last a really long time, so you really don’t need to worry about durability.

COMFORT:

I absolutely love the headphone. I feel that the pads over the ear-cups are not only soft but really well. You can wear these headphones for hours on end without discomfort. The clamp force is well, it’s not too strong which means that you can wear them in the office, for example, without having to worry about being them being uncomfortable for a long period of time. Overall, It has really nice soft pads and also having a nice over the ear design that even around the ears fits perfectly.

At the top, you’ve got very little padding but the padding again is very nice and soft, So I’d no complaints. It’s kind of got a breathable design, so if you do sweat or you do take them out on runs or anything, the design is made so that it can easily filter through that sweat.

In terms of comfort and in terms of look, it’s the most attractive headphones but they are very much traditional headphones sort of approach.

Bose QuietComfort QC 35 II  

These feel premium in your hands. The materials used for the headband is Alcantara Cushion which provides comfort on the top of your head and they are also impact resistant. If you open up the arms, you’ll see that it can adjust so it’s good for people with larger heads. I’ve also noticed that a headband is very flexible.

Overall, the headband provides extra comfort for day to day use and designed to last a really long time. The clamping force is also solid and it doesn’t hurt your ears at all. The ear cups are made with a synthetic protein material providing a soft cushion for your ears.

FEATURES:

You’ve got a nice little carrying pouch, and you’ve got a set of cables. It was quite interesting to find this has a USB to USB C with a USB-C to USB type A adapter in the package. You’ve also got the traditional 3.5 jack to connect as well. 

In terms of the buttons, the other than the actual clicking function, you’ve got a 3.5 m jack for your headphones to connect. If you don’t want connect by wirelessly then you’ve got your assistant button which you can disable or enable through the app, then you’ve got play and pause functions, a volume up and down, and skip and next. There are no touch sensitive buttons around the headphones.

In terms of wireless transmission, these headphones connect over Bluetooth, you can connect it via 3.5 m jack as well. In terms of Bluetooth, you’ve got the SBC, the aptX, aptX low latency, and AAC codecs at your availability. I didn’t notice any latency problems with these headphones which is a great sign. So, this was because it was using the apt X codecs and if you’re going to use any of the other codecs, I would revert to SBC rather than AAC on Android. If you’re on iPhone then it should pretty much automatically revert to the AAC codec. Overall, in terms of codecs wise, I had no complaints.

There’s also the smart control app. The Sennheiser smart control app that you can download on iOS or Android. The app is very intuitive and simple but you’ve got a few different options, so for example active noise cancellation, you can filter between Max, anti wind and also anti pressure. Now, the anti pressure is quite a nice feature because for those people who are a bit sensitive to an active noise cancellation and you solve pressure, it kind of builds on your ears. So, it’s a very subtle difference but there is a difference in there. You got a transparent hearing mode, again you can have the transparent hearing mode enabled or disabled via that little toggle. You can have your music playing while you’re still in transparent mode.

You’ve got the equalizer, in which you can adjust this however you you so wish. These headphones do automatically pause and resume when you got them off your head. You can also have a voice or tone or off in terms of prompts like, for example, when you’re connected you are disconnected from your source device. Now, you’ve got Google assistant, Alexa and siri as well via your phone. So, it’s great to see all those assistants now included.

Bose QuietComfort QC 35 II  

You will have a hard-shell case, which is exactly what we need for these headphones for complete protection. This case will prevent it from things like marks or dust and you can easily store it away into a bag. I mean, it doesn’t take any space at all. Also, you will get an audio cable, which has a 3.5mm jack to allow you to play sound by connecting wires. Although you do have Bluetooth wireless connection, you can also use wired connection as a backup when the battery runs out.

As for the controls, you have 3 audio controls to change things like volume or skipping tracks. There’s also an action button which separates the series 1 from series 2 and this can be used for changing the noise cancellation depending on your environment or you can use the Google assistant. On the side here, you have a microphone which is always useful because when you’re in public the person speaking to you will be able to hear you clearly even if it’s windy. You can also hear yourself so you don’t speak too loud, which is really cool.

On the left ear cup, there is a function button which you can use for Google assistant to help you perform a task. It kind of works the same way as Siri so you can manage your daily task with just your voice. You can set things like reminders or plan your day or even just play music.

The Google assistant can be handy because you can do things without glancing at your all the time. If voice commands aren’t really your thing, then you can use the app to set the function button to just act as an ANC modifier. So, you can alter the noise cancellation within three buttons. There’s high, low or off. I think it’s much more useful to use the ANC modifier as you don’t need to use the app in order to do this because with the app you can either set the function button to either be an ANC modifier or Google assistant.

The last thing is the Bluetooth and NFC which is near field communication (NFC). You can simply switch the Bluetooth button on and pair your device in seconds and once you’re all set up, you can simply touch the Bose QuietComfort 35 II with your phone and it will pair up again without you having to go to your settings. Another benefit of Bluetooth is that two people can listen to the same thing as Bose QuietComfort can connect to two devices. If you’re with a friend or partner, you can both listen to the same song and vibe together.

MICROPHONE:

Also, you’ve got these this toggle which is to toggle ANC and if you were to toggle it down where you hear that little tone, that little tone there indicates you’re in transparent hearing mode and transparent hearing mode essentially allows you to listen to your surroundings kind of amplifies your surroundings which is great. This is a feature that a lot of its competitors also provide.

A recording quality is quite important because if you want to be taking calls on the go, you don’t be reaching out to your mobile especially when you’re wearing over your headphones. I compared them directly to the Bose noise-canceling 700 headphones, the reason I took the Bose as a benchmark is because they are by far the best headphones out there in a market be it noise cancellation or not to have excellent recording capabilities, they pick up voice very clearly and better still when you’ve got a very busy environment. The Bose headphones are able to cancel out that background noise very well.

But, it wasn’t the case with the Sennheiser headphones. I was coming to expect excellent microphone recording quality with the Sennheiser headphones because of Sennheiser’s background in terms of recording and mics and unfortunate that wasn’t the case. Here, I found that the noise source and sound quality that you got via that recording was good, however, when it came to background sounds, you could very much hear the background sounds very loudly. I just found it not to be anywhere near as good as the Bose headphones. It’s slightly better than the Sony 1000XM3.

The noise cancellation which is arguably one of the most important features of the headphones. Now, I compared it directly to bose noise-canceling headphones 700, the Sony XM3, and the Sony XM2 as well. I found is that all the other three headphones performs a lot better in terms of noise cancellation versus Sennheiser Momentum Wireless. I found with low-end hums, the Bose and Sony headphones all manage to do an excellent job at canceling low-end hums. The Sennheiser headphones did a good job but it’s not excellent job at canceling low-end hums or vibrations. The Bose or Sony were able to deliver fantastic performance.

In the mid or high frequencies, the Bose headphones did a decent job and the Sony XM2 also did a decent job where the Sony XM3 did an excellent job. The Sennheiser is here sat below all of those headphones, it did an okay job, it did block out some sounds and you did feel a little bit isolated but when it came to noise cancellation, it just didn’t compete to its competitors.

Bose QuietComfort QC 35 II  

The Bose QuietComfort 35 II are well known for its ANC and their ability to make a loud engine sound like a whisper. If you’re unsure about ANC or you don’t know what it actually is. ANC basically stands for active noise cancellation (ANC) and Bose QuietComfort are basically well known for its ANC and their ability to basically cancel all the background noise.

I’ve tried wearing these myself outside and they do block out a lot of noise to a significant amount but it’s not very loud but it does do a good job at blocking out like 90% of noise. So, if you compare the noise cancellation to other types of noise cancelling headphones, these are considered one of the best. So, if you’re in the market for specifically noise cancelling headphones then these Bose QuietComfort headphones will do the job.

In comparison with headphones such as Sony WH-1000xm2, Bose does slightly better. The way that the ANC works on Bose, is that it continuously measures, compares and reacts to outside noise and then it cancels it with the opposite signal. You can easily modify this with an app. The ANC is very beneficial for people who are traveling a lot in public places or on public transport.

If you just put the Bose QuietComfort 35 II on, it creates that soundproof environment to help you either concentrate on something or quieten down your environment, so you feel much more at ease. If you’re someone with anxiety and you’re in public, you can use the ANC and play some soft music to calm you down a bit. When you play music with the ANC, you can turn the world completely off, there can be just you and your music.

SOUND PERFORMANCE:

In sound quality, Sennheiser headphones really shined over all the other headphones in the noise canceling segments. It’s a big surprise of how well they sounded and how well they were able to deliver a excellent sound throughout the frequency range, I didn’t feel at one point that the Sennheiser headphones were struggling in a certain frequency.

The sub bass is presence and it’s very much there. The bass extends very well into the lower end tones and the midbass has a very strong pronounced sound. In some respect, it was a little bit overly bassy at times. I would feel that if you’re listening to more classical, orientated music or less bass orientated music, I’ll be tempted to go by this smart control app and just adjust equalizer.

In comparison to the Bose, these extend very well in the lower frequencies but in terms of control, they also deliver fantastic control in the mid bass frequencies which is something the Sony 1000XM3 cannot boast. The Sony XM3 essentially having wobbly mid bass, they do extend very well into the lower end frequencies but it does have a wobble in the mid bass and the Sennheiser headphones simply do not. They were extremely focused in that frequency.

In the mids, these Bose headphones came out on top simply due to the fact that the midbass frequencies were less emphasizing, the Bose headphones versus the Sennheiser headphones. If you EQ it then you will get excellent mid-range frequencies and mid-range tones. So, into the mid-range frequencies, it’s capable but its default setting does give it a warmer v-shaped type sound but it’s as v shaped in Sony XM 3.

In terms of the highs, Sennheiser headphones were able to extend very well at the top end without rolling off. They had a really nice clear cymbals at the top end and they didn’t feel like they were kind of subdued. But, the Bose headphones have this kind of roll off at the top end and Sony on the other hand sound very eloquent at the top end and are very much equal in the high frequencies to the Sennheiser headphones.

The sound stage was really apart from everything. The soundstage really was incredible. The Sony and the Bose headphones have great instrument separation and good sort of width. They lack a little bit of depth but overall you’ve got a very engaging sound and you don’t feel claustrophobic in any sort of respect whereas these headphones took it to another level. They reminded me on my audiophile grade headphones where does pretty thicker pads and the way that they’re able to deliver extra instrument separation and great width and depth that you’d expect from an audiophile grade headphone.

The Sennheiser momentum wireless really delivered excellently in this sort of department. So, in terms of the soundstage you’ve got great width and depth. The instrument separation is fantastic, positional cues are fantastic. If you’re gonna be gaming with these headphones being on your PC or on your mobile, you’re gonna get really nice positional cues and sound didn’t feel congested and it didn’t feel like it didn’t have space to breathe.

Bose QuietComfort QC 35 II  

This is exactly where the headphones shine the most in my opinion. I was honestly really shocked at the quality. I’ve tested them both wireless and with wires. The entire frequency range is well balanced and really clean. The highs are crispy clean and the lows provide a really nice thump. I was actually surprised with the bass because it’s actually quite punchy. The mid-range is really detailed as well. I enjoyed listening to the vocals on every single song and the bass is punchy but not very overpowering. These are honestly the best headphones I’ve ever worn so far.

The Bose QuietComfort 35 II also has an EQ which is a technology used for volume optimisation and this provides consistent performance at any level of sound that you’re it playing at. I would easily rate a 9/10 for sound quality overall. I think the Bose QuietComfort 35 is best for all types of people whether you’re traveller or recreational listener, I think they are all around very good headphones.

BATTERY:

Now in terms of the battery life, the battery life is quoted at 17 hours. The 17 hours is decent but in comparison to the industry to Bose provide around 20 hours of playback time while so Sony’s provide around 30 hours of playback time. So, comparison into the industry, it’s a little bit lower than expected but 17 hours is still very much respectable. In terms of charging, it’s USB type-c but it does take three hours to charge from empty which is a lot slower than the Sony’s which charge in a lot quicker time.

Bose QuietComfort QC 35 II  

You will get a USB charger and there’s a quick charge feature, so if you charge it for just 15 minutes, it gives you an extra 2.5 hours of battery. This is always handy if you need to quickly charge your headphones if you forgot to charge them the night before. There is 20 hours of battery life when you play wireless, but there’s 40 hours of battery life when you’re using the wires.

CONCLUSION:  

Sennheiser Momentum 3  

They do sound fantastic, there’s no denying that they do sound among well the best-sounding noise cancellation headphones out there and in my opinion, they are more comfortable. As an overall package, I was impressed of its sound quality and characteristics and in terms of its design, it can be arguably not as nice as the Bose headphones but there’s nothing overly wrong. In terms of comfort, I was pleasantly surprised. However, there was a lot of things here which kind of worked more negatives. First, the recording quality and then in terms of functionality, it’s not great. I found the noise cancellation just wasn’t as good as its competitors which meant that these headphones turn to really good Bluetooth headphones for listening to music.

So, it’s a bit of like double sided or two sides of the argument. Personally, I just think they’re just bit too expensive and I just wish that the noise cancellation and microphone quality were just better. If however, you just want a comfortable, over the ear headphone that has noise cancellation and sounds absolutely spectacular throughout the frequency range then choose Sennheiser headphones.

Bose QuietComfort QC 35 II  

Overall, it’s a great noise cancelling headphones and it’s super light and comfortable. This will be more suitable for the travelers because of the above mentioned features. If you are searching for the best noise cancelling headphones, you can choose this one. This also has many features which will be useful to you. 

At last, the sound performance is also equally good. so, as a package, this will be good headphones even in this price range.
