Anker Soundcore 2

The Anker Soundcore 2 is a really good-sounding Bluetooth speaker you can find on a budget. The speaker is a vast improvement over its predecessor. This speaker is retailing for around forty dollars currently on amazon.

JBL Flip 4

The JBL Flip 4 is a 2017 model and they still have it, if you want to buy you can buy it online they still have this model. This speaker is the predecessor of the JBL Flip 5. This speaker is retailing for around eighty dollars currently on Amazon.

DESIGN:

On the front of the speaker, the Anker brand name is embossed and white on the grill. The body of the Soundcore 2 is coated in a grippy matte black rubber which is nice to the touch but quickly shows fingerprints. It comes in black, blue, and red colors. The speaker is just 410 grams in weight making it an obvious choice for taking with you on your travels. Controls on top of the speaker are the on/off button, volume up/down button, play/pause button, and the Bluetooth button preparing to your digital devices. On the side, you will find a water-resistant flap that protects the micro USB charging port and 3.5 millimeters auxiliary port.

JBL Flip 4

In the front, you have the JBL logo and inside there are two stereo speakers, one on the left and another one on ther right, and they are front-facing speakers. On the sides, you have your passive radiators like some other Flip line-up speakers. On the top of the speaker, you have the play/pause button you can actually receive the calls you can receive the call and you can talk. Then on the backside, you have the power on and off there, and also the JBL connect plus button. There is also your battery bar that indicates the battery life left in your speaker. Also, on the back there is a flap when you open it, you will get the micro USB port for charging and an aux jack, and make sure you close the flap properly to keep the speaker waterproof.

The Soundcore 2 and delivers a much fuller and richer sound under $40. This is the best portable Bluetooth speaker for the price point. The Soundcore 2 comes well packaged for a budget speaker. The only thing you get in the box with it is an Anker branded micro USB charging cable, and a clearly written owner’s manual, there’s no wall charger included. Anker’s leading power management technology and a 5200 milliamp-hour lithium-ion battery combined to power up to 24 hours of nonstop music. It only takes about three hours to charge your battery with a 2 Amp charger.

It’s IPX7 waterproof protection which means this speaker can be submerged in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes and it will work properly. It also has upgraded to six want drivers totaling output to 12 watts stereo sound. This speaker has 5.0 Bluetooth technology, with the 70 Hertz 20 kilohertz frequency response range. Additionally, there’s a built-in microphone for making speakerphone calls and be used with voice assistants like Siri and Google assistant. The setup on the Soundcore 2 is pretty easy, simply press the pairing button the LED to the right will flash blue, go to the Bluetooth settings on your laptop or smartphone, and look for Soundcore 2 and selected.

The Soundcore 2 has improved crystal-clear audio quality, bass, long-lasting battery life out of low usage, and reliable connectivity. Its been cheap and affordable. This speaker is cheap and affordable quite frankly, you can’t get a bigger bang for your money. When it comes to a portable speaker on the market, when I saw the specs for this speaker and look at the price on Amazon, I was surprised. The Soundcore 2 retails just for about $50 on Amazon and is well worth it. Its improved sound quality and battery life.

JBL Flip 4

They claim 12 hours of playtime but unfortunately, if you play music on the highest volume, you will get around six and a half. This speaker doesn’t have a fast charger however, it charges really fast. I’m surprised, so if you have a fast charger you can charge your speaker really fast using the micro USB. This is an IPX7 water-resistant speaker and the build quality is really nice. I have dropped my speaker many times fortunately nothing really happened, so it’s a kind of good and durable speaker, you would say you can throw it in the swimming pool however, it doesn’t float so be aware of that. A splash of water doesn’t really affect the speaker at all.

This speaker features JBL connect plus protocol, so if you have another Flip 4 or other speakers from JBL that has the same protocol, then if you press the connect plus button on both speaker then it will connect the speakers together. One speaker will be your left stereo speaker and one speaker will be your right studio speaker, so you can use both speakers as stereo speakers, so you can play sound together, and also, JBL claims you can connect upto 100 JBL speakers with this.

This speaker also comes with an app called the JBL Connect app. You can download the app from the play store easily. Inside the app, you have many features such as you can change the functions of the play-pause button from the standard play and pause function to launch voice assistants such as Google Assistant or Siri. Then you can change the modes on which you want to connect your Flip 4 speaker such as stereo mode to get stereo sounds between two speakers and party mode to connect more than two speakers to get all speakers to play at the same time.

SOUND QUALITY:

Anker Soundcore 2

As far as the sound quality, the high frequencies are good but when you do pump this up to about 75 to 80% loudness, you can hear the snares and tambourines and some rock songs let’s say for example start to get lost up there. They sound like they’re somewhat mashed together, and you can make out details. But overall, it has good audio performance for its size and price.

JBL Flip 4

Overall, the sound on this is amazing, I have enjoyed it very much, it has really good bass radiators allowing for it to get that awesome lows and it is slightly diminished when you use the speaker in the upright mode. But overall, when you set it sideways on the side you’re going to get this really awesome, full, rich amazing sound.

WHICH TO BUY?

In my opinion, both of these speakers are good to buy for you as both of them have great features and sounds good for their price. It just depends on you how much you want to spend on your speaker if your budget is under fifty dollars then you can buy the Anker Soundcore 2 without any doubt. If you can afford seventy dollars then you can buy the JBL Flip 4 it is also worth buying for its price.
