Detailed Review

INTRODUCTION:

Amazon Kindle Oasis

This is the most high-end and high-priced premium E-reader overall and also in the Amazon E-reader lists. Also, considering the price it has some great features and many customizations and options. So, it will be worth buying.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite

This E-reader is a bit lower-end model than Kindle Oasis. There are many things which all in the Kindle Oasis and this costs much less than the Kindle Oasis. This E-reader comes at a budget price with some great features.

DESIGN & BUILD QUALITY:

Amazon Kindle Oasis

This E-reader is relatively lightweight and features its lovely ergonomic design. Just like the previous version, it’s heavily weighted towards one particular edge, the edge clutch it in and that just means, it’s a nice comfortable fit. It’s just perfectly balanced, so really comfortable to clutch even for extended periods. This one has a metal back which looks nice and neat and proved rugged as well. Kindle Oasis didn’t pick up any scratches or scuffs very easily.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite

The Kindle Paperwhite comes in around 120 pounds in the middle of the Amazon Kindle lineup between the standard Kindle and Kindle Oasis. There’s not a lot to the design of the Kindle Paperwhite. The bezels are quite big and it’s called the Kindle branding on the front but it’s not really a major issue. In these days, it should have smaller bezels.

It feels so much like a book, especially if you have one of these covers. There is an amazon fabric cover available and when you open it, it wakes up the screen and you close it, it puts the screen to sleep. It really feels like you’re holding a book when you’ve got the cover. It’s quite light, it’s very ergonomic. It just feels really nice in your hands.

DISPLAY:

Amazon Kindle Oasis

The seven-inch screen certainly seems nice and responsive. You can just quickly scroll through all of the various lists you want to see more. One of the only features that have actually been updated for this Kindle Oasis is that seven-inch touchscreen everything is the same as before and the same resolution is about 300 pixels per inch. So, perfect even if you’re enjoying something with lots of illustrations in it or a nice graphic novel. It’s an anti-glare display, if you will see the spotlight it will be still perfectly make out. This is great for reading on a bright sunshiny day.

Now, the full range of Amazon Kindle E-readers now comes with backlight and even that most basic budget model which is fantastic. It is a bit more advanced on this model compared with the cheaper models because, at any point, you can fiddle with that brightness. So, it’s great if you’re trying to read in a dark room or a really bright sunny day when you won’t just boost that brightness all the way up. Also, we have a feature of auto-brightness. It’s a nice pleasingly uniform bit of backlighting as well. It’s perfectly uniform throughout the entire display. It’s a really nice comfortable reading experience.

Probably the biggest update for this model of the Kindle Oasis is the fact that you can now play around with the color temperature as well to make that screen nice and warm. So, that’ll be absolutely perfect for your late-night reading sessions. It’s nice and comfortable, easy on the eyes, helps you to get to sleep as well if you’re gonna be reading at night.

As usual, you can fully customize the Kindle Oasis display as well to suit your own particular needs and reading abilities and everything as well. You do have complete customization as you can actually play with the font and all kinds of stuff, you can make the text nice and bold as well as changing the size. Thanks to their dense 300 pixels per inch resolution, it means you get nice crisp visuals which is great if you are a bit of a fan of the old graphic novels comic books because it is all in black and white monochrome but still, absolutely great reading experience.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite

I think the biggest bonus over a physical book is that this is backlit. So, you can read in the evening and night when the lights are down low. One of the things I don’t like about these E-readers is that the displays don’t have color. It’s just black and white and also refreshes really slowly.

If you have a book you have to keep it open the book with a lot of mess if you want to read while you’re doing another work. You don’t need to do that with this, this sits flat and all you need to do in order to turn the page is really light and it’s very sensitive, you just need to touch the screen left or right obviously to go forward or back of the page.

The display is really nice and smooth that you can easily turn the page without any mess. The screen size of the display is and also it’s glare-free, you can also read on a very sunny day outside. the resolution is of 300 PPI so it’s almost like the higher end model Kindle Oasis. You can also customize the fonts and many other things as per your flexibility.

 FEATURES:

Amazon Kindle Oasis

It’s also great to see proper physical page turn buttons on the Kindle Oasis. You can just control that for turning pages without touching the touchscreens. The second introduced IPX8 water resistance and that’s something that carries over to this model as well. So, even if you want to be using it in a swimming pool or reading in the bath no worries whatsoever, it can take being submerged into up to a meter of water for around an hour or so which is fantastic. The only thing is it has to be freshwater. It is worth pointing that if water resistance is a major selling factor for you, don’t forget that the current Kindle Paperwhite is also fully water-resistant and that costs a hundred pounds less than the Kindle Oasis or definitely worth bearing that one in mind.

It’s worth bearing in mind as well, you’ve got Wi-Fi and you’ve also got built-in LTE on the Kindle Oasis, that’s completely free and don’t either separate mobile data plan or anything like that. So, at any point even if you’re not connected to a Wi-Fi network as long as you’ve got a data signal, you can still browse the store and download E-books, it’s a great little feature.

Amazon has rather thoughtfully introduced a scheduled feature for the new color temperature settings as well which means you don’t even have to manually play around with it, you can just have it automatically schedule the color temperature to grow warmer between sunset and sunrise. so, it’ll automatically to make it nice and easy on the eyes in those low-light environments. otherwise, you can manually turn it on between set times as well and you can actually set exactly the sort of color warmth that you want as well. This comes with a choice of either 8 or 32 gigabytes of storage space and 8 gigabytes will be absolutely fine for the vast majority of users. If you could have just gonna be download E-books then that will sort you out. The 32-gigabyte model is really for anyone who’s using the audible audiobook service. So, if you’re a bit of a fan of audible, you can download the audiobooks.

There was no built-in speaker on the Kindle Oasis. What you’ll need to do is you’ll need to jump into the settings and actually connect up Bluetooth headphones or Bluetooth speaker, so you get all set up through there. Kindle Oasis is also unique among the Amazon E-readers and lets the screen can actually reorient it depending on which way you’re holding it. So, it doesn’t matter whether you’re left-handed or right-handed, their screen will just flip around to suit it.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite

As an easy to read display with 5 LEDs if you need to read in the dark. There’s 8 gigabytes or 32-gigabyte storage but the 8 GB should be enough for normal reading things. One of the great features about any reader is that you can change the font size, you can change the font, the boldness, and everything which is really useful. So, you can really personalize how you want the text to look at what you obviously can’t do on a paper book. This Kindle also comes with water resistance if you ever wanted to swim while reading or read while you’re in a bathtub.

The biggest advantage of an Amazon E-Reader over other ones is the huge Amazon library of books which you can’t find really in any other E-Reader and also the books on a reader’s are often cheaper than those that physical. So, you might actually end up saving money even in your paying like 120 pounds for the device. Another massive bonus, especially if you’re thinking of taking this abroad on holiday, you can read this outside. You don’t have a problem because this also has cellular connectivity.

This is waterproof, Amazon says that you can submerge your Kindle in freshwater for an hour and it will come out working just fine. However, it is really good to know that if you’re in the bath if it gets splashed or if you’re on the beach or around the pool and you’ve got kids there being quite energetic, you don’t have to worry that this is going to get splashed and ruined.

There is an option on the Kindle where you can choose for it to show what percentage of the way through the book you are. This will actually encourage to read further. It will also tell you how much longer it will take for you to finish the book. You can tailor the pages to your reading needs. So, for example, if your eyesight isn’t 100% if you are dyslexic, they actually have a font on here that you can use which I think is called open dyslexia. You can tailor all of those things in the settings.

Goodreads is integrated into the Kindle. Now, you can see what your friends are reading, you can see ratings of books that you’re thinking of reading, you can rate your books. I mean, there is so much if you were into reading. You can listen to audiobooks via your Kindle audible. Another thing that isn’t necessarily a big selling point at the moment but you can also read magazines and newspapers on your Kindle.

Now bear in mind on the Kindle Paperwhite, all of the images are in greyscale. So, if you are reading a magazine or a comic and one of the main things you like is all the colors and how beautiful it looks, you’re not going to get that on here. People sometimes like to refer to the back cover like, what the story is about perhaps how the characters being introduced, what their relationship is and you can’t do that as easily with this E-reader.

Another thing to note is if you’re looking to buy a Kindle is that it will only come with the cable and then there is a USB and that USB needs to go into a plugin the wall in order for it to charge. It does not come with that plug, so you can use other plugs if you have like for with your mobile phones or you can just buy from Amazon.

PERFORMANCE:

Amazon Kindle Oasis

To use this E-reader is not a big task, it is very straightforward and very intuitive. If you’ve used any other Kindle you’ll immediately be writers form. It immediately fills it with all of your E-books that you have stashed away in your library. If you scroll down, you’ll also get recommendations based on current books that you’ve bought. By tapping the store icon, just allows you to browse all of the E-books available on the Kindle Store, you can buy and download books directly through that without having to mess around going on your laptop or anything like that.

We definitely impressed by the performance of the Kindle Oasis. All of your touch controls seem really responsive, nice, and nippy. It’s actually improved over the previous model but even using the on-screen keyboard, it’s normally a bit of a frustrating experience with the Kindle device.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite

The main reason you should get the Kindle E-readers is to be able to read pre-releases. This is so simple to use. It’s not like a piece of new kit or new technology that you get and you to teach yourself how to use it, it’s got one button on the Kindle itself which is at the bottom and that is simply to turn it on and off. You can do more kinds of interactive things with it, so you can highlight sections probably really useful if you’re looking at an academic text. You can look up words to understand what they mean. You can take screenshots and all of that is really really easy to do.

If you’re looking for a new book to read, you can download it on the Kindle Store within minutes, you don’t have to wait for Amazon to dispatch it for the postman to deliver it.

If you buy the special offer Kindle Paperwhite then, when it’s just sleeping it will show you advertisements for other books that you can buy. If it’s going to annoy, you just pay the extra pounds and go for the non-special offer version.

BATTERY:

Amazon Kindle Oasis

Amazon usually isn’t very forthcoming with the exact specs list for its own brand devices and the Kindle Oasis has no difference as far as the battery is concerned. It’s the same as the previous generation which I mean, you should get a good couple of weeks of use from a full charge with about an hour or two hours of reading per day because of you have that brightness turned up all the way to the max where your stream and a lot of audiobooks. You want to be charging it up fairly regularly anyway via a micro-USB.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite

The battery life is good, it does last one or two weeks. It’s not at the level where you don’t have to think about what level the batteries are, you do have to think about it you can’t just forget about for months which kind of should be for an E-reader because that’s probably the biggest advantage.

The battery life is amazing. This lasts according to Amazon for up to six weeks. You can easily read for about a month without charging it. It does have a great battery life a little. A little tip for saving battery even more on your Kindle is when you’re not downloading books pop it in airplane mode and then it saves so much more battery.

amazon kindle paperwhite (2) (1)

WHICH TO BUY?

Both the E-reader is good for their prices. The Kindle Paperwhite has almost 70% features as the Kindle Oasis had. With the Oasis you can have some special features like rotating orientation, page turn buttons, and many other things but you have to pay for that a lot which makes this E-reader a higher-end device. If you have a great budget, then you should go for Kindle Oasis which will more comfortable comparatively. If you don’t have that much budget then as I mentioned, the Kindle Paperwhite is also worth the buying.
