Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Blue en.CORE 300

The Blue en.CORE 300 is retailing for around two hundred dollars currently on Amazon. You may feel like the price of this very high but it worth that price. This is the latest microphone in the en.CORE series microphones from the Blue microphones. This is also a condenser microphone that has the cardioid polar pattern.

Sennheiser e935

The Sennheiser e935 is made in Germany, if you know anything about the Germans they’re perfectionists, they’re very big on qualitative which means quality. This microphone is from the “e” series mics from the Sennheiser. There is another mic in the “e” series which is retailing for a higher price than this. This microphone is retailing for around a hundred and seventy dollars.

DESIGN:

Blue en.CORE 300

The Blue microphones are coming with all newly designed microphones that are so unique compared to the other microphones in the market. On the front of the mic, you have got the Blue logo which is surrounded by a pink light that lights up when the mic gets the phantom power. The head of this mic has got a nice textured grille which also looks so unique. This mic has also got a ribbed handle like the en.CORE 100 and 200, which gives a nice grip and comfort while holding this mic in the hand.

For the rest of the mic, the handle is one solid piece and then the end attaches with a screw-on mechanism. It’s all really solid, it’s something I wouldn’t be afraid of if it fell on the ground, you’re gonna be able to pick this thing back up and keep going, it’s really durable. In this way, you have got a really nice and durable design for this microphone.

Sennheiser e935

You can take off the head of the mic and if we look inside, there you can see the mic itself. Also, this has the cardioid pickup pattern and why is it called a cardioid pickup pattern because the pattern looks like a heart. The head of the mic is like a blueish silver-colored and then the standard Sennheiser body.

This mic primarily is used for singers and the reason this is important to know is that if you can imagine a big concert how much sound is going around and bouncing around that big area the sound waves go everywhere, and it’s gonna go into this mic too and this rejects so much which is why allows featuring the singer even though there are all these ambient sounds around it. It rejects anything that comes from outside as this has the cardioid or heart-shaped pickup pattern.

FEATURES:

Blue en.CORE 300

The en.CORE 300 is one of the most recent models from Blue Microphones. Its condenser capsule is hand-selected and tuned for an open detailed and present sound, that is as well suited to the stage as it is the studio. Blue’s engineers match the capsule to a custom-designed phantom power circuit, which together provides a rapid and powerful sound that is an ideal match for powerful vocals. The en.CORE 300’s uniquely reinforced design mounts the capsule for optimal performance and isolation from handling noise. While providing vault-like protection for the capsule to ensure breathtaking performances.

When we compare the handling noise of the en.CORE 300 and SM58, they’re substantially less handling noise with the en.CORE 300 but if you’re used to using condenser mics, you may know that’s not a surprise, that’s typical within a condenser mic, so you’re going to have less handling noise with a condenser than a dynamic mic. So, it’s one of the natural advantages of the en.CORE 300. It does a good job but it’s not a big surprise but compared to other dynamic mics it’s going to do better for handling noise.

Sennheiser e935

The box claims that this microphone comes with a 10-year warranty and in the box, you get the quick startup guide which is in about seven languages and just has some basic how to use the microphone, what kind of pattern it has, this is a cardioid pattern microphone, then you get a warranty guard, then you get a nice widely padded carrying case which is enough to protect it from dust and damages, then you get the mount for a stand that has the brass inside just a standard mic stand mount, and then you get the microphone itself.

PERFORMANCE:

Blue en.CORE 300

When it comes to the sound and performance of this microphone I do think it’s okay, I do like it more when it’s closer to the mouth for spoken word but I don’t think the sound is outstanding. When it comes to the noise floor, I feel like it’s just too loud for podcasters and people doing spoken-word for like 23.5 decibels, it’s just it’s too much. If you are going to be using this as a live vocal microphone that noise floor isn’t really a big deal in that situation.

Sennheiser e935

This is a dynamic mic and I think it’s the perfect kind of mic for here youtube videos. In my opinion, the crispness is it’s hard to beat, there might be other mics out there that can match this but it’s crisp, the mids are full, and the bass is not too deep. It’s just a nice full-bodied mic in my opinion. Side-by-side switching back and forth between the Sennheiser e835 and Sennheiser e935 the vocals were very close, so for interviews and stuff, this mic is just a little bit better than the e835. But for singing, this mic blew the e835 away it has a much fuller sound for my vocal range which tends to be more bass and I think all in all is going to be a better all-around mic and really wasn’t that much more expensive than the e835 in the first place.

Sennheiser e935

WHICH TO BUY?

In my opinion, one can buy a microphone on the basis of the type of microphone they want or on basis of the quality of sound they want from the microphone, or on the basis of your budget. In such a case, you can consider the below points:

  1. If you want a good condenser microphone, then you can buy the Blue en.CORE 300 but if you want a dynamic microphone, then you can buy the Sennheiser e935.
  2. If you want the best sound quality and the best performances out of your mic, then you can buy the Blue en.CORE 300 because it sounds better as a condenser mic than the Sennheiser e935.
  3. If you want a good microphone for under 200 hundred dollars then the Sennheiser e935 is a good microphone for around a hundred and seventy dollars as a dynamic mic.

This is a versatile mic that will serve you well for both live performance and recording – some say they’ve even mid clean amps with it. So if you want a relatively transparent microphone that you can use in multiple settings then this is a great option for you.
