Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Bose Portable Home Speaker

The Bose Portable Home Speaker is priced at three hundred and fifty dollars USD. That is a hefty price tag for a portable speaker. Hence, this is a high-end premium speaker. This speaker connected via Bluetooth and Wi-fi both, which is really nice to have in a portable speaker.

Bose SoundLink Revolve+

Bose is a respected player in the audio space, their name gives the assurance of a premium build and a quality listening experience. They have a problem though, their range of speakers looks tired and really out-of-date and companies like Sony’s are really shaking up space. But they tried to change that with the Bose SoundLink Revolve Plus. This speaker is retailing for around two hundred and fifty dollars currently on Amazon.

DESIGN:

Bose Portable Home Speaker

As far as the design of this speaker, starting with the very top, you have a very comfortable carrying handle that is made of nylon. Right beneath that, you have a circular speaker grill, and in between that you have a massive rubber pad that has all the media controls keys. You have your power button, Bluetooth button, play-pause button, volume up, and down button, additionally, you have the mute button and lastly, you have a custom button that can be configured in the Bose sound app.

Moving on to the rest of the body, you have the Bose branding in the center of the speaker, and the entire upper half of the body is made of plastic. It is worth noting that you cannot remove the carrying handle, it is directly inserted into the body of the speaker itself. As far as the lower half, you have a massive aluminum mesh grille, this is where the majority of the sound comes from. Then at the bottom of the speaker is where you have your USB Type-C port for charging, and at the very bottom of the speaker itself, you have the magnetic charging strip that is for wireless charging, if you opt to get a wireless charging cradle for you Bose Portable home Speaker.

Bose SoundLink Revolve+

They’ve gone for a totally new design language a real more traditional speaker. The Revolve and Revolve Plus have a rubberized control pad topping the cylindrical space claim metal body. Yet has the speaker grille holes all around the bottom behind which sits a single driver, that means mono sound for this speakers. The Revolve Plus has a hand of the portability and is water-resistant, so you don’t have to worry too much about getting them wet which is a nice bonus.

FEATURES:

Bose Portable Home Speaker

As far as the presentation of the box, it is a pretty straightforward and generic box, I expected a little more, to be honest considering this is a high-end product. Once you remove the pull tabs and slide the box open, you can see right away the speaker is there. Beneath the speaker itself, you will find the instruction manual, quick start guide, and safety warning manuals. Then you have another box in which you have two very important items first being your USB-C to USB-C charging cable, so obviously the speaker itself does have a USB-C charging port, and the second item there is your charging brick itself that has Bose branding on it.

Connecting your Bose portable Bluetooth speaker for the first time is a very pretty straightforward process. You simply download the Bose Music app on your phone, it will detect your device and you connect to your wi-fi. Once you do that, you get a couple of minutes then follow the prompts, and you are done. In terms of connectivity, unfortunately, you can only connect the Bose Portable Home speaker wirelessly, you cannot connect this as wired using the include USB-C connector to connect to your device, and there is no aux jack included.

Furthermore, this speaker does support the AirPlay 2, so if you own an iPhone you can connect that way alternatively, and you can also use the Bluetooth connection, but that is a short-range connection, so the wi-fi connection will be the idle connection. The Bose portable Home Speaker has an excellent transducer, this is essentially a high excursion speaker system that produces 360-degree audio and it fills every corner of the room. As far as the battery life you will get around half of what the company claims that is 6 hours at maximum volume.

Bose SoundLink Revolve+

It looks stunning, they’re solid in the hand and kind of resembles the love child of the Google Home and an Amazon echo. There are more improvements as well, the poor Bluetooth range of previous speakers isn’t initiated and I’m comfortably able to play music to the speaker through multiple walls. As far as the battery life, you’ll get 16 hours of battery life in the smaller Revolve. The battery life figures are about what I’ve been getting in my week testing listening at roughly half the volume of it. It still uses a micro USB cable for charging instead of USB Type-C though that’s a bit more disappointing.

This speaker also features the Bose Connect app and using the app, with the app you can adjust your sound quality of the speaker, and also, you can connect two of these speakers with the help of party mode and play the same song together ou of these speakers. But it doesn’t always work to the point where I can’t play music when connected to both or just one of the speakers and I needed to reset both of them a few times to get it to work again further.

You may be thinking why should we buy a speaker with a single driver for a higher price but they have that covered it if you’re willing to buy two of them. That is downloading the Bose Connect app allows you to prepare two speakers together in something called party mode allowing one synced acts for Less speaker and another as the right. It’s not the perfect solution but it’s good enough and gives you control over where you place them.

SOUND QUALITY:

Bose Portable Home Speaker

As far as the sound quality of this speaker, I am very much impressed with just how much capacity this has. at full volume, it’s loud enough to leave no dead spots in a living room so you wouldn’t have any problem there. Furthermore, you have three passive radiators that serve to extend or amplify the bass capacities of the speaker. The bass is not bad but it’s not great by any means, in fact, it was towards the lackluster side, in my opinion.

Bose SoundLink Revolve+

The reason why you really want to buy the Revolve Plus is for its sound and obviously, it has a much louder fuller sound, that it’s more a counterpart with more low-end but shouldn’t see you away from its smaller brother the Revolve. It doesn’t have the same bass response when it packs a punch that you wouldn’t expect from something of its size. If you use those speakers a lot, these have the classic Bose sound. For the sound signature with a favorable approach to boosting the low-end frequencies.

Bose SoundLink Revolve+

WHICH TO BUY?

In my opinion, the Bose Portable Home Speaker is good for you to buy than the Bose Revolve Plus because it has a built-in voice assistant while the Revolve Plus just works with the Amazon Echo Dot, and also the Portable Home speaker connects via wi-fi and Bluetooth both while the Revolve Plus connects only using the Bluetooth. Also, the Bose Home speaker sounds better than the Revolve Plus, so even though the price is higher it worth that price range. But if you can’t afford that price range then you can go for the Revolve Plus because it is also worth buying for the price and it also sounds good for its price range.
