Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Corsair HS70

The corsair HS 70 cost $99.99. It comes in three color combinations of complete black, black with white, and, cream accent colors. The packaging is standard corsair packaging and inside you get the HS 70 headset a detachable microphone, a wireless 2.4 gigahertz USB transmitter, a thick 1.8 meters micro USB charging cable, and, some manuals and warranty cards are present as well. The HS70 is the wireless variant and that can be used via the USB dongle or you can actually use the USB cable that’s included either way it is 7.1 compatible.

Arctis 1 Wireless

The steel series arctis 1 is in a class of its own. It’s wireless, it has a decent microphone, and, it does everything you need it to better than other gaming headsets out there in that $100 price range. You won’t find a better wireless headset for this price and you won’t find a better option if you’re a Nintendo switch user. this headset works for the pc, the switch, android, and, ps4 and, probably the new generations as well. The battery life lasts pretty long and you can also still plug it in and charge it and use it at the same time, so that is a plus.

Steelseries Arctis 1 wireless

DESIGN:

Corsair HS70

This headset looks very similar to the HS 50 which is on a budget it doesn’t look cheap at all rather looks premium and better than the wired headsets with its premium design and overall feel and surely will give durability. It’s mostly matte finish all around which is great. It has a metal internal headband and metal yokes which provides exceptional strength and a feel sturdy but it’s very light at just 333 grams. Its design is also slim profile with the over-layer cups and memory foam which is a plus point and also the accents on the headbands with foam padding as well and with a real metal grill on the sides there which gives this a premium look.

One of the first things you may notice on the HS70 is that diamond-stitched headband on the inside. On the outside we have a nice leather imprinted coarser logo. Corsairs continued the branding by adding those metal grills on the outside of the ear cups with the subtle Corsair logo in the center.

Arctis 1 Wireless

The design of this headset looks super similar to the rest of the lineup of SteelSeries headsets except this one comes in a plastic body with a steel frame. The headband sports a comfortable leather cushion to match the air weave fabric that you get on the ear cups. On the right ear cup, you get your power button and on the left ear cup, you get the rest of your controls, from your volume wheel to your microphone mute button, and both your 3.5 millimeter and micro USB ports still no USB type-c for charging. The microphone jack is also on the same ear cup and unlike other steel series headsets, this one is detachable and doesn’t slide in and out of the headset.

The headband they’ve made it from feels like incredibly cheap plastic and because of its design when you go to open the headphones and stick them on your head it feels like you have to absolutely wrench them apart and snap them into just to get it on. Maybe the central part of the headband is made from a fixed piece of our molded plastic and doesn’t have much flex to it which doesn’t bode well for the longevity of SF headphones like these. So happily that doesn’t transfer to the actual comfort level of the headphones all that much they are a little on the tight side and the lack of padding up at the top it does end up being a little bit of an annoyance after longer sessions but that can be easily resolved by just moving them slightly.

COMFORT & CONTROL:

Corsair HS70

The headband pressure is quite impressive and it feels very comfortable for long hours of use thanks to the foam padding. It’s also adjustable and fits most head sizes but, it’s not foldable though and also has a very small tilt angle. The drivers are the same 50-millimeter neodymium drivers which give an awesome performance and also have very good noise isolation thanks to the foam padding. As far as the inner ear cups go the HS 70 headsets are equipped with memory foam padding to keep you comfortable for those long gaming sessions and having over the ear fit rather than an on-ear fit. As you guys may notice earlier the mic is detachable in case you’re planning to use the HS 70 s primarily for just audio or maybe you just don’t want to have the mic equipped all the time.

All the controls are present on the headset itself. On the left there is a driver unit, at the back of it you get the volume slider there, and also a mute button is present as well and a charging come status indicator there and a microSD charge port there. Also, it comes with a completely detachable noise-canceling microphone for which the port is present on the same side in the front, which is also easily adjustable to any position. It also comes with a discard certification for a crystal clear voice. On the right ear cup, you’ll notice a push click, an indicator light to show if the headset is on or nearly low on the battery, and, then finally you have the grommet that covers up your microphone input. Corsair included what they call their precision tune 50-millimeter drivers these, speakers actually have a really nice quality sound if you’re just using them for music or using them for gaming its chat is crystal clear.

Arctis 1 Wireless

The comfort of this headset won’t disappoint the general population of the gaming industry but if you’re like me and you have a massive head this headset does feel a lot tighter than the other steel series arctis gaming headsets. It kind of feels like the stealth 700 gen twos by turtle beach. It is super tight around the ear cups and around your temples. So, if that’s not something that you’re used to just make sure you’re aware of that before you purchase this headset. For an hour of gaming or use it’s not bad but once you get into actual gaming sessions longer than an hour you will feel that tightness and discomfort all around. The ear cups are actually pretty good, my ears did rub on the inside of the ear cups just a little bit as the actual earcups themselves aren’t the thickest or most plush you’ll ever feel but they are plush enough and they’re a breathable fabric so, you don’t get overly hot and sweaty while wearing them.

Like the rest of the lineup, you get your equalization in the steel series engine software however, without any RGB or surround sound included with this headset there’s really not much to adjust and play with. You can adjust your mic to sidetone your dynamic range compression and play with your presets along with a few simple instructions on how to use your multimedia controls when using this headset for phone calls and listening to music. For battery life, this headset gets about 20 hours on a full charge and the range is up to 30 feet, which is pretty accurate.

FEATURES:

Corsair HS70

The HS 70 is the newest and wireless variant for the HS lineup. Included in the box you have your micro USB cable for charging the headset, you have your 2.4 gigahertz USB dongle, you have the detachable mic, and, finally of course you have the headset itself. In the HS70 microphone all the background noise or music anything gets canceled. So, I hope you can make up your mind based on this. Using this headset is pretty simple and you can charge the headset through the charging port there and wait till it gets green this gives a playtime of up to 16 hours and charges in about four hours. Once done, plug in the 2.4 gigahertz transmitter which gives a 40 feet range, and on the right, you get a power button press and hold that until you see this blinking led on the left and just give it some time and it gets connected automatically no need of any software or anything for this steel your sound.

The virtual sound point wants to work it only works on a PC with the corsair Q software installed, it’s the pretty simple interface on the left you get the equalizer presets and you get multiple presets for which you can just change and shift too and on the left, you get the 7.1 toggle icon and you can switch to the studio as well. Then you get the mic volume and also a sidetone and a volume for it as well. Sidetone lets you listen to your own voice which is a very good feature for in-game use. This works best while gaming but it’s actually good for music too with its punchy bass and overall audio being great, you can use it for media consumption groups. It is compatible with PC, PlayStation, Xbox, but not with mobiles as it says you are based headset. This is best for the PC to utilize the Virtual Surround. Overall the Corsair HS 70 is a super product like the HS50 and for anyone looking for something at this price range you cannot go wrong here.

The nice thing about this headset is, it is wireless and wired all at the same time and you can use one or the other independently too. Wirelessly the battery claims to last for about 30 hours and you charge it using the 2.0 port with the USB-c to USB cable. From my testing I would agree with the statement here, this battery is really good. The led light above the power button shows solid red when charging and turns off when fully charged. The led also has some other functions that it indicates for. For instance pairing to enable pairing press and hold the MFB until the led blinks red and blue, when the headset is paired the MFB led will blink blue, disconnected blinks red, pairing is blinking red and blue, and connected is single blinking blue. It also turns off after say about five minutes and this is to save battery when there is no input. You will also notice that when connected by USB-C to USB as well as Bluetooth it was a constant red with blue blinking every now and again.

Arctis 1 Wireless

When you will unbox at the first glance we have the headset with all the cables and then in the back, we have the user’s manual. So, in the box, we get the headset, the microphone, a 3.5-millimeter audio cord, a charger, the aux cable in case you don’t want to go wireless, the adapter to use the wireless, and, the USB to USB C adapter. The wireless cable goes to the computer but there is the dongle on the other end of that dongle is a USB-C, which you can use for your android phone. So, if you’re looking if you’re a mobile gamer if you’re just looking to jam out with over the year headphones that are wireless, you can use this for your android phone USB-C.

The main update with this headset is, it now features the same connectivity option that you get with the 7x and 7p headsets of the SteelSeries lineup where it has that USB type-c dongle. It is slightly smaller than the Xbox version and it’s the same as the version that you get on the 7p. It makes it super easy to swap between your pc consoles mobile phones and tablets. Nintendo Switch users will love this headset now because they finally get a decent wireless option for gaming whether docked or undocked. Interestingly it seems like SteelSeries has gone with the same soft-touch rubber cable you get on basically, all of their latest gaming ways for the cable that connects this to your system it’s actually a four-pole headphone jack which means that it can be supported across basically any device you want whether that’s your phone or your PC or any of your consoles like the Xbox one PlayStation 4 or Nintendo switch all of those work. Also, it does also include a 4-pole to separate the headphone and microphone jack adapter cable in the box which is always good to see.

One other nice feature they have is the ability to fold the ear cups flat which especially if you’ve just taken them off you know after a long session but you might use them again in a minute or if you’re just talking to someone else in your room or even if you’re you know using them to travel and you slip them in a backpack being able to fold those ear cups flat is actually a pretty nice feature to have. One other extra thing is that you can detach the microphone as well which is pretty handy to know.

MICROPHONE:

Corsair HS70

The microphone of the headset gives really good results. My only complaint which continues to be my complaint with the entire HS lineup and this is not a big deal it’s the only thing I could think of that was kind of a bother is that the grommet that covers the microphone input is just a tiny little rubber grommet it works fine when it’s on the headset, when you take it off you plug the mic in that’s fine but the grommet is not attached so what ends up happening is, for example, the HS 60 the grommets which are attached and you will not lose it easily. It’d be nice if they had a better way of opening up that hatch for the mic without you know disconnecting that rubber grommet because it could potentially get lost again not a big deal, not a deal-breaker just one thing that would be nice to see changed on future headsets.

Arctis 1 Wireless

The mic quality of this headset is okay, it is not as good as the condenser mic but it is decent for gaming. If you’re trying to game with your friends or have zoom calls meetings with people this is great. The good thing about this headsets microphone is that the mic is bam it is detachable. So, sometimes if you won’t like to edit videos and don’t want the mic in your face so, you can take it off, and then you can just easily pop it back in. Steelseries is also advertising this headset as having a discord certified microphone. When you will test the microphone with keyboard clicking, it will definitely pick up the keyboard clicking even with afoot and half away from the microphone. So, whether you’re using this for party chat discord, gaming, streaming, recording whatever it is, the microphone quality does not sound bad.

SOUND:

Corsair HS70

In-game sounds are quite good and directed very well so you get a great gaming experience although on the 7.21 virtual sound the gunshots had a slight bit of a less punch to it on the stereo it’s banging on. Speaking of the audio itself, if you guys are interested in playing with 7.1, you can definitely do that on PC this headset is compatible with PC and with the ps4 but that 7.1 option will only be available as of right now on PC.

If you will listen to the audio and sound quality, you will feel the audio is pretty clear and this is a discord certified headset so, you know take that as you will it should be pretty clear and you guys should be able to hear each other very well when you’re in-game. As I mentioned before the HS 70 is compatible with PC and ps4 and with the 2.4 gigahertz low latency dongle that comes included you can expect a distance between the headset and the dongle of about 40 feet and can expect the battery life of the headset to last up to 16 hours.

Arctis 1 Wireless

The sound of this headset is really good. Getting into gaming, when you will test this headset out playing call of duty cold war on PlayStation 5 it will definitely sound good just as good as pretty much any other steel series art this headset since they’re all super similar in the sound department. Listening to music was nothing special but still got the job done and thanks to it being super easy to connect with the dongle it made the experience that much more simple and made me overlook the subtle muffled audio quality that you get when listening to music. The 7p and the arctis wireless 1 sounds about the same. As I feel like it sounds pretty much the same.

When you hear the sound of this headset you will come to know that it doesn’t sound as crisp and clear. If you will hear the sound from a distance of about 20 feet, it does sound pretty clear and when you will listen to the music and stuff from the back of your room it still will be hearable, it doesn’t cut up and it works great. The audio is certainly not bad, of course, these are still budget set headphones. So, they won’t blow your expectations away for the sort of price you’re paying for the course you’re getting but, they’re remarkably clear the bass isn’t overdone like a lot of the cheaper style headphones where they try to increase the level of the bass just to try and mask the general lack of quality they have.

corsair HS70

WHICH TO BUY?

The Corsair HS70 is Dolby compatible just like the HS 60 as well but now you have it in a wireless version. These gaming headsets are definitely better than Arctis 1. The Corsair HS70 is more comfortable and performs really well compared to Arctis 1. While in Arctis 1, the microphone is actually pretty decent, it’s not the best you’ll ever hear but as this is a budget headset and there is a fair amount of background noise that I heard while listening to a test recording but overall, it’s certainly plenty clear enough to chat with friends and discord or TeamSpeak while you’re gaming.

The price of both headsets is almost the same and is affordable. But according to my opinion, you should go for Corsair HS70.
