The Logitech G430 is decent value, as it offers great sound quality and is quite comfortable.

The Logitech G430 has a stellar mic and is comfortable enough to wear for hours on end, but missing software features hold it back.

Logitech have once again proved to us why they are one of the leading peripheral brand of choice today. They certainly know how to please their target consumer and they know how to go with the trend. Certainly like the color theme of the G430 which looks fresh and modern. Certainly not everybody likes blue but the great looks is certainly one of the good selling point for this headset.

This is one of the best gaming headphones I’ve used and most certainly the most comfortable. The paddings and ear-cups are just at the right depth and stiffness and I never had any problem with wearing it for hours. The voice quality for the microphone…

For me, it’s between the Kingston HyperX Cloud II and Polk Striker P1 Multiplatform. The HyperX Cloud II looks and feels better in my opinion, but you have to use USB audio instead of your sound card if you want the inline control box. When spending this much on a headset we’d rather not have to choose between having less features or lower quality audio.

The HyperX Cloud II is attractive for many reasons, including its modular and comfortable design, premium build quality, great 7.1 surround and stereo sound, and affordable price. It’s also great for laptop gamers since it obviates the need for a dedicated sound card, and overall is one of the best headsets I’ve ever used.

When all is said and done, the HyperX Cloud II headset offers the full package. As mentioned, they only thing that tops their quality looks is the quality of the performance which comes at a very fair price when considering other options currently on the market. The Cloud II is a well worthy headset and its versatility only helps to make sure you get the most from them possible.

Then it struck me. That comic book I bought so long ago, it was so cheap and yet I got so much enjoyment out of it. I don’t want to use the word cheap because that has some negative connotations to it, but the value it provided for the price was genuinely amazing. The Cloud II’s are the same and at this moment in time, they are without a doubt my favorite headphones for gaming and general PC usage.

Detail Review:

Logitech G430

The headset design of the headset is simple and as same like all the other Logitech headsets. The comfort is also good. The audio quality of the headset is fine and nothing special.

HyperX Cloud 2

The design is something same as like the other HyperX headsets but it looks stylish and also simple like the headphones. You will get some more features than the G430. The comfort is also very nice and the build quality is good. The sound of the headset and the mic is also good enough.

Logitech G430

The build quality of these is decent. It is pretty much the exact same build as the Logitech G230. It has an all plastic build, it does have a little bit of metal on the inside when you expand the headphones.

HyperX Cloud 2

The frame of the HyperX cloud 2 gaming headset is made out of aluminum and it feels really solid to the touch. The construction of the headset feels really solid, so you don’t have to panic if you drop the headset.

Logitech G430

Padding on the ear cups is kind of rough but it’s nothing horrible and it also does allow for really great breath-ability. So, your ears don’t overheat. The joint that allows the headphones to rotate does feel kind of weak, so you would be careful with that.

HyperX Cloud 2

One more aspect at which this headphone really shines is that it’s extremely comfortable because of the memory foam that’s used. You can easily use it for longer sessions without having to deal with tiredness and head fatigue.

In the box, you’re going to get the gaming headset which has the microphone already attached and it has the cable permanently attached and you get a USB sound adapter.

The cable is a braided cable which I like a lot. The mic can be moved up and moved back down and you can actually articulate it closer and farther away from your mouth to get the right sound. The control panel has a mic mute switch, a headphone volume control, and a clip on the back, so you can clip it to your shirt.

The surround sound in this is only compatible with Windows machines. So, if you’re using a Mac or a Linux machine, you’re not going to get the surround sound functionality. I also want to note that this headset does offer live monitoring and I mean you can hear in the headphones that you speak in the mic and that is not something I’ve come across on many other gaming headsets and I think that’s a pretty awesome feature.

HyperX Cloud 2

Inside the box with the headphones, you will get an extra set of ear pads. These ear pads are made out of fabric, so you have the option to choose between the synthetic leather ones and the fabric ones. The detachable microphone is included inside the box and because it’s detachable, it means that you can remove it from your headset and use your headset just as regular headphones if you please so.

A small thing that really caught my attention is the included airplane adapter which is a really nice addition to the whole set because it enables you to use your headset on the airplane without having to buy an extra adapter. There is also a really nice carry bag included in the box which you can use to protect your headset while you’re traveling. The last but more important thing is the USB audio controller which enables you to increase or decrease the volume of your headset and microphone and it also has a button to enable or disable the virtual 7.1 surround sound.

The audio cable of the headset is not detachable and it’s really short comparing to the cable of other headsets but this is compensated by the length of the USB cable from the audio controller. The controller also has a clip on the back, so you can clip it on your shirt belt or any other convenient place. The modularity of the system is great because you can use it on your PC or laptop with included USB controller box and then when you’re on the road, you can remove the audio jack from the controller box and use it with your smartphone, at least if your smartphone has an audio jack. The full potential of the headset is unlocked by using the USB audio controller which offers some pretty nice features.

Logitech G430

The microphone is listed as cardioid. It lists a frequency response at 50 Hertz to 20 kilohertz and they tested this out with 3 volts of power going to the microphone which doesn’t really matter because they actually provide you with a USB sound card to connect it to your computer. It does list a unidirectional microphone, so the voice will be changes as I move into different orientations around the microphone.

I think this thing sounds pretty horrible and that is using the provided sound card which you would expect would provide a good sound quality but it doesn’t. It sounds like it’s clipping, it sounds very thin, it just sounds all-around bad.

HyperX Cloud 2

The audio isn’t that great if you’re comparing it with a shotgun microphone but it offers noise cancellation and for casual gaming, it suffices.

The ability to lower the microphone volume is really great because a lot of time it happens that your microphone volume is set to too high and you’re in a game and you don’t want to blow the ears of your teammates off. The audio controller has a mute slider on the side which enables you to easily mute the microphone when needed.

Logitech G430

The headphones have 40 millimeter drivers and they list a frequency response of 20 Hertz to 20 kilohertz. When I was listening to music on this headset, I didn’t notice any frequencies that stuck out as too loud or any frequencies that were missing. So, I think they’re perfectly fine in that apartment.

There’s also USB sound adapter that is included with the headset. The normal sound of the headset is hundred times better than when I was using the Logitech sound adapter. I should note this headset is listed as compatible with Windows machines. When you download the drivers, you can make adjustments to this sound card and avoid the crappy sound.

As far as the headset, I think they sound fine and there’s nothing special about them. There’s nothing horrible about them and also great about them. They’re just run-of-the-mill center of the road headphones.

HyperX Cloud 2

If you talk about the sound quality of the headset, this is where the headset really shines. In my opinion, the sound coming from the 53 millimeter drivers is really great with a nice low, good mids and a crisp high. Just remember to turn off the 7.1 surround sound when you’re listening to music because it just sounds terrible and it’s really not made for them.

The surround sound in my opinion, it sounds great. When you’re in game and when you enable it by pressing the 7.1 surround sound button, the audio suddenly feels more immersive. Keep in mind that it’s virtual surround sound, so it’s still using only two drivers.

The design of both the headsets is nice and good. Comfort-wise, I think the HyperX Cloud 2 will be good and also in build quality. The sound of the HyperX Cloud 2 will be better than the Logitech G430. But, like that the price also differs. The price of the Cloud 2 is double the money of the Logitech  G430. So, If you have a budget of $85 you can go for Clod 2 otherwise, the Logitech G430 is also good enough for that price.
