INTRODUCTION:

Logitech G502 Hero

This is a refresh to the old G502 which is by far one of the most popular gaming mice in the world. I genuinely mean, it’s among one of the most popular gaming mice that’s ever been solved. This mouse has some improvements from the old one.

Logitech G Pro

They designed this mouse after listening to a lot of community feedback. There’s no such thing as a perfect mouse and everyone is different, this will suit a lot of people but not everyone. This will be good for small hands to medium-sized hands and also, this has some decent features.

DESIGN & COMFORT:

You might be able to see, there’s a frail cable that can be found on the right-hand side and that’s because Logitech design had decided to shorten and make the diameter of the cable a little thinner and the braiding a little bit better, and therefore the fact that doesn’t frail as much as the original G502. So, if you’re someone who found the cable to look quite ugly in my opinion then hopefully they’ll no longer be the case with the new G502. It feels a lot better and from my experience from older mice, especially when Logitech mice had a smaller diameter cable that I found that it was lasting a lot longer and wasn’t ending up for short time. Now, fortunately, the cable is still non-removable.

Underneath, you’ve still got the adjustable weight so which do come included in the box. You’ve got 36 grams, 3.6 grams per weight adjustment. So you can add up the weight. Now the default weight on these mice are equivalent, they haven’t changed and it’s a hundred and twenty-one grams, that’s for the mouse only. The optional weights as five of them equate to 18 grams of extra weight. Now, in my opinion, I still find that a little bit too heavy, I still prefer around 90 grams for a gaming mouse, especially when it comes to flicking if you’re a sniper. So, it’s just as in CS: GO, I think you’ll find that this mouse might be a slight bit too heavy.

Design-wise, it’s pretty much identical apart from the fact that the blue accents over here on the original G502 has disappeared. The RGB variant got rid of this blue accent anyway. So if you’ve got a newer G502, you will notice that it’s exactly the same. So, in terms of design and build quality, I think it’s a definite improvement. It’s very slight improvements, that’s simply because if something isn’t broke why would you go ahead and fix it.

Logitech G Pro

The cable is a smooth road but it’s also very thick. It’s about two meters long which I think is about 6 foot. When choosing a mouse, you need to look at the four main points which are shape, center, weight, and buttons. This is an ambidextrous design but with buttons on the left. It has a top optical sensor with the 3366. It only weighs about 85 grams with a bit of cable and the left and right buttons use on run switch. The clicks are light and great from Oberon FPS. Everything about this Mouse sounds right but will it suit you, a lot of that is going to depend on the shape.

The slope in the buttons is gradual and the hump is just a bit toward the back, making this suitable for fingertip and claw grip and palm grip if your hand isn’t too big, depending on how you place your fingers. The grip width is about 5.5 centimeters and the base length is about 10. So, it’s roughly just under a two-to-one ratio which is decent and it’s at about 3.5 centimeters high. Given the size, this could suit palm grip for people with hands under 17 centimeters, claw grip maybe 15 to 19, and fingertip most likely 17 to 20. It’s a safe shape with no unnecessary angles, so there’s plenty of room to place your fingers. It’s really up to you and how you hold the mouse.

One thing I will note on the shape though, the sides are not flat, they’re actually a bit rounded vertically. I prefer the sides of the G302 to in terms of flatness, they have just a bit of curve going outward toward the top, while the G100M have similar sides that they’re kind of rounded in the center. This is the lugar design and it is basically the same as a G100, I just like more the G302.

The build quality when tapping it, there’s a slight buzz and when shaking it, a very quiet rattle which I think is close by the cable. The material should be durable as the sides are textured plastic. With the top being a similar better bit smoother, and the four small mouse feet glide smoothly over hard and soft pads.

In terms of buttons, the layout is again absolutely identical. You’re able to see that you’ve still got the two buttons on the left side mouse button, you’ve got by your thumb, you’ve got the two left-hand ones and the one on the side and then at the top, you’ve got one extra button and then you’ve got that button which releases the hyper scroll wheel and that means you can scroll infinitely. Now, I love that feature and I like what they’ve done and it seems like they’ve also updated a slight bit to the actual wheel. It looks slightly different and it does feel slightly slimmer and slightly better with the very small adjustment but one that is definitely noticed for those who would use it on a daily basis like myself.

Now, other than that it’s still a right-handed mouse, it’s still aimed at those people that you can’t use it with a left hand, it’ll feel really awkward and there are no removable pads on the side or customized all buttons as you’d find on other Logitech products. You can see the Logitech G logo has updated since the original Logitech and gaming logo had on the G502.

Logitech G Pro

Coming to the buttons, there are some subtle comfort grooves and they’re separate from the shell. They’re louder than expected though but lots of people saying that there might be good for jitter clicking. I can hear, they’re louder but they also feel a bit harder to press in with better tactile feedback, so that should prevent the accidental clicks like on the G302.

The scroll wheel is improved, being a bit smoother and not putting so much emphasis on the steps but the steps are still there but definitely not the quietest. The side buttons feel good with very little trouble and the DPI button is that of the way and easy to press in.

As for quick latency, neither test is exact but when comparing it to the G900, they appear to be about the same. Overall a good performance from the buttons and they should be usable in all game types.

SENSOR & PERFORMANCE:

Logitech G502 Hero

Now, the biggest change over here is the internals. Now the sensor, inside this one was a PWM 3366 sensor which goes up to 12,000 dpi. It was highly respected as one of the most practical and best mice sensors out there. That was built with PixArt, so Logitech teamed up with PixArt which are very well known for creating very good sensors and created this mouse. Now, in this one, however, we’ve got a Logitech’s very own hero sensor. It is very much Logitech’s own sensor that’s coming to play over here.

The differences over here that it has up to 16,000 dpi which is a lot more than you’ll ever need but other than that, in terms of how it tracks and how it performs. It performs pretty much identically to the 3366 sensor. However, Logitech does boast about its efficiency and how the sensor is efficient. Now in all honesty for a wired mouse, I don’t think efficiency is ever going to be useful or going to be something of importance to a gamer. Of course, if you go wireless then it’s a completely different issue because it will give you better battery life with a more efficient sensor. But, for a wide perspective, the only difference that I found was that extra dpi that we’ll never ever use.

In terms of performance-wise, it’s equivalent to the 3366 sensor. In my counter-strike tests, in terms of clicking and in terms of moving left and right, dropping the mouse, flicking, and one-to-one tracking and various surfaces, this mouse and the hero sensor performs identically to a 3366 sensor. In other words, you get pretty much deep or you are getting the identical sort of performance that you’d find in do all the model which was very highly respected. In other words, the performance hasn’t changed which is great.

Logitech G Pro

Let’s discuss about the implementation of a 3366 sensor. This is arguably the top optical at the moment with just the three 3989 feeling more responsive. Other than that, everything is most likely better on the 3366 and I can’t make it spin out either. As for any delay, I have no real way of testing it but it feels good to me, and in the test where you hold the mouse on its side and then slam it flat down if 3366 is the only sensor that seems to be optical. So, it doesn’t spin out whereas all the others I’ve tested do spin out.

In the sniper test, zooming right in, moving pixel-by-pixel up first, and this is as smooth as you’d expect and I tested it at 400, 800, 1600, and 3200 dpi, it’s hard to get an exact measurement on acceleration and it’s meant to be impossible to have known but this seems close to perfect. It hasn’t caused me in the issues in-game. In line test, I tested on cloth and hard pad at 1600 dpi, windows sensitivity 6 out of 11, I see no extra kinks, no skipping, no angle snapping, and no jitter problems. The liftoff movement was well controlled and no rattle issues. As usual, the 3366 performs extremely well for low and high sensitivity players.

SOFTWARE:

Logitech G502 Hero

The Logitech software is pretty much like all the Logitech Gaming software just trying to get the right mouse but it hasn’t changed at all. Obviously, you’ll need the latest version of Logitech Gaming Software which is not just a gaming software in order to get this but nevertheless, you can see you’ve got all the customizable buttons. You’ve got the lighting controls which can be independent of the logo or the DPI switch, there’s a dpi switch button which is located on the side which I’ve got disabled simply because I’ve only got one dpi color. You can change it by a fixed color, breathing effect, or color cycle, change the rate, and also change the brightness. Finally, you can have a little heat map of where you’ve been clicking and what you’ve been using.

I did mention the RGB lights. Now, you can customize these from the software. With all the button configurations that can fully customize through the Logitech software.

Logitech G Pro

It uses Logitech’s usual software. We can set five DPI modes from 200 all the way to 12,000 in steps of 50. You can reassign the buttons with mouse functions including media, keystrokes, or set up macros. In lighting, you can turn the lights off or set it to breathing effect and assign a color. if you set the effect off, you can just have it as a solid color and of course color cycling with the right. Then, there’s surface training for your mouse pads, some analysis options and in the settings, there’s just angle snapping.

WHICH TO BUY?

Both the mice are nice for different types of people. Even though the G502 Hero has awesome features than the G Pro mouse, it costs less than the G Pro which around $70 and G Pro costs around $95. So, I think G502 Hero will be good to buy. But, if you prefer less weight and a small mouse then you should buy a G Pro mouse.
