Tribit StormBox Micro

The Tribit StormBox Micro is really one of the good-sounding Bluetooth speakers available in the market at a lower price. This speaker is retailing for around fifty dollars currently on Amazon which is really budget-friendly. This speaker looks good, sounds good, really small and very portable.

Bose SounLink Micro

Bose is one of the popular brands in the audio-market for its qualitative sound and builds quality. The Bose SoundLink Micro is also one of those qualitative products from Bose. This speaker is retailing for around a hundred dollars currently on Amazon. Even though this speaker is retailing for a higher price, it worth that price because of its quality.

DESIGN:

As far as the design and the build quality, this is IP67 dust and waterproof which means basically you can kind of dunk this in water, I wouldn’t submerge it in water that’s definitely not what it’s supposed to be. But this is supposed to be a rugged outdoor type device, this thing feels incredible in the hand, and they specifically talk about it on their Amazon page and all over their website that this is definitely a device that is meant to be outdoors. They have a different looking strap which I didn’t really know at first what it was until I finally started figuring out that you can strap it to different things.

One of the things that I did was I have a basketball pole out in the backyard, so I just strapped it to the basketball pole and listened to music while I was out there, and it worked perfectly. On their website, they talked a lot about strapping this to a bike or something like that, when you’re riding around in the outdoors. Honestly, another thing you could do if you’re out on the trails or camping or anything like that is strap it to yourself on a backpack or something like that where you can listen to tunes as you go. From a build quality perspective, it’s got a nice rubbery feel, the top right there has a definite fabric type feel, and the buttons are all nice and clicky.

Bose SounLink Micro

Right out of the box, you could feel the weight on this. Definitely, doesn’t feel cheap, you got the silicone material so this definitely looks rugged. Then you have your strap on this, so this way you could connect this around your bike handles, around your backpack whatever you want. Also, there is a little speaker grill on the back of this speaker.

On the front of the speaker, you have got your plus and minus that is for volume up and down, then your play and pause button that’s also going to activate your Siri and your Google assistant, also, to answer and end phone calls, and you got three LEDs. On the side of the speaker, there’s a Bluetooth pairing button, your power button, and your Micro USB charging slot.

I love listening to this when I have it on in Bluetooth because it’s incredible. This has a lot of quality sound out of such a small footprint, so really very good. You could effectively buy two of these and get a nice stereo system as it does have the ability to pair with the speaker of the same model and make the stereo. So, you could buy two of these and completely blow away the Bose SoundLink Micro for 55 dollars.

If you’re a person that wants to go outside a lot listen to tunes but you don’t want to carry around a big bulky speaker or something like that, this literally fits in the palm of my hand. You can just keep it on a table, don’t have to worry about damaging it all because of the IP67 rating, and just listen to your tunes with the eight hours of battery life which is more than enough. This supports micro USB Type-C which is really nice to have as it would give you fast charging.

There’s one thing that I don’t like about this speaker that is the power button because the power button is incredibly sensitive, so when it’s on and if you accidentally bump it with just a very slight press, it will go off which is kind of annoying. The paring and connectivity are very quick to connect from a Bluetooth perspective, I had no issues at all in terms of latency or connectivity. I would have set my phone down and walk completely across the yard maybe 125 feet or so, and I had no issues at all. So, when it comes to Bluetooth latency or connectivity it is really good.

Bose SounLink Micro

The Bose SoundLink Micro comes with the classic Bose presentation in the black and white box which I really like much. As far as the features, it has a crisp balanced sound, you also get a durable silicone strap, waterproof and rugged that is IPX7 so that means you can fully submerge it, pair two for party mode, you got a speakerphone with Google and Siri integration, and up to 6 hours of battery life. Inside the box, you get your speaker having nice weight to it, then you get your usual books, then you do get your charging cable that is USB-A to Micro USB, it’s really simple and straightforward.

The first thing you need to do after you got this speaker is to download the Bose Connect app. After you are done, once you open that up, it’s gonna search and find your speaker, and the pairing process is really very simple with this. From the app, you got all your settings you got your Bluetooth menu, you can connect multiple speakers so if you got two of these or another Bose compatible speaker like the Revolve Plus you can pair them up in left and right channels or stereo mode. Then you got your battery percentage, your volume slider, and it shows you the last song you were playing.

Connecting the second speaker is a really simple process, just go back to the Bose Connect app, open it up, let it search for the second speaker, you’re gonna wipe down, and it will pair up and it just takes less than a minute to do so. This speaker is water-resistant and can be fully submerged in water but the only problem is that it doesn’t float. So, if you don’t know how to swim and you take this to the beach or at a pool, and it goes submerged you out of luck. For a speaker this small, this is the best sound and portable Bluetooth speaker that I heard yet. As far as the sound quality on this, for one hundred and ten dollars, it worth every dollar. 

SOUND QUALITY:

Tribit StormBox Micro

From a sound quality perspective, and I’ve tested this before for the build quality where you can strap it to a bike or a basketball pole or put it on yourself or something like that, this thing gets incredibly loud. They are super ridiculous loud, way louder than I really expected when I first took this out of the box. I am overwhelmingly impressed with the sound of the audio, that comes out of the Tribit Micro.

The bass slams nice and hard but not too much, the mids are nice and crisp and clear, and the vocals on this are again nice and crisp and clear. I was stunned at the actual audio quality that comes out of this because I’ve never heard of Tribit before this, so I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I got this and I am blown away. So, definitely, the sound quality is exceptional. I would actually suggest you keep this speaker away from you because it is going to blow out your eardrums but not with bad sound quality, that’s probably the biggest thing that I’ve noticed.

Bose SounLink Micro

I have tested out the sound quality of this speaker with maximum sound on and with a bunch of different kinds of music from different genres. By my test I feel that this has a balanced sound, you can hear and feel the bass out of it, and has a deep rich sound to it. If I compare this to JBL Clip 2, then the Bose is definitely louder and sounds more clear and balanced, and this has more bass compared to the JBL Clip 2. I tested out the sound quality of the speakerphone on this by calling one of my friends. As per my test, it sounds crystal clear, and it’s nice and loud both from my side and also from her side.

WHICH TO BUY?

In my opinion, you should buy the Tribit StormBox Micro because the SoundLink Micro is retailing for more price than the Tribit StormBox Micro and the StormBox Micro is roughly half the cost of SoundLink Micro and the StormBox Micro sounds as good, if not a little bit better than the Bose. It’s been a long time since I listened to the Bose but the StormBox Micro is every bit on par with the Bose SoundLink Micro at a fraction of the cost.
