This is the review of the comparison between two speakers from two different brands that are popular in the market such as the Tribit and the JBL. The comparison here is between the Tribit StormBox Micro and the JBL Clip 3. There is around twenty dollars difference in their price range. INTRODUCTION:
Tribit StormBox Micro
The standard for the Tribit StormBox Micro speakers is Bose, they’re really good at putting a lot of sound into a little bit of space but their SoundLink Micro comes in at eighty dollars. Eighty dollars for a tiny little speaker is kind of expensive, that’s where Tribit comes in with the StormBox Micro Bluetooth speaker. This speaker is retailing for around fifty dollars currently on Amazon.
JBL Clip 3
The JBL Clip 3 is the updated version speaker of the JBL Clip 2. Speakers from the JBL Clip line-up are popular from the day of its launch itself. As with its predecessor, these are also very popular in the market. This speaker is retailing for around seventy dollars currently on Amazon which is quite on the pricy side for a speaker of this size.
DESIGN:
Tribit StormBox Micro
It’s got a strap on it that is actually pretty well-designed. It comes off easily, based on how easily it came off I was really expecting it to not hold on very well, but it kind of clips on there. And I tried to rip it off, I tried really hard to break it but I couldn’t, it means it’s really hard so no need to worry. That’s pretty good, I like it. At the bottom of the speaker is where you have got your power button, your Bluetooth pairing button, and in the center, you have got your LEDs that indicate your charging level. Then on the side of the speaker is where you have got your USB Type-C charging port. On the other side, they’ve got the anchor point for that included strap. On the front of the speaker there, we’ve got volume down, volume up, and a multi-functional button.
JBL Clip 3
On the front of the speaker, you have got your play-pause button, volume up and down that has nice clicks, these speakers have built-in carabiner hook, JBL branding is on the front of the speaker, standard mesh speaker grille. On the back of the speaker, you have got a nice little JBL insignia. There is one thing good on the Clip 2 that is your 3.5 cable built-in but for extra twenty dollars you’re losing out on the cable. On the bottom of the speaker is where there is a flap and when you open it up there will be your micro USB charging slot, and also there’s your 3.5 input for no Bluetooth devices. On one side of the speaker, there’s your power button and your Bluetooth pairing button. There is an LED on the top of the speaker.

Tribit StormBox Micro
The Tribit StormBox Micro is a super-compact battery-powered Bluetooth speaker that apparently offers surprisingly strong bass for its size, as it is really small. And is apparently both dust and water-resistant up to IP67. They claim that it has eight hours of battery life. Remember that is going to always be dependent on the type of content you’re playing, how loud you’re going. When you first power it up, you get a little indicator for how much of your battery is left, and it pops straight into Bluetooth pairing mode.
As far as the specs of the Tribit StormBox Micro is a 9 watt RMS speaker, its got a 2600 or milliamp battery, Bluetooth version 5.0, it’s IPX7 water and dust resistant, and it’s got TWS or true Wireless studio so that means you can pair one StormBox Micro with another StormBox Micro and get true audio separation when listening to music or watching movies. The fact that the bass port is at the bottom, so it’s bottom-firing, so if you keep it flat on the surface it kind of resonates with the bass, so sounds better. If you want, you could even prop it up so that it’s facing exactly the person or the group of people sitting in front of it so that’s up to you. So, all in all, I would say for a portable speaker for its size, it is commendable, it definitely packs a punch, and it’s considerably loud.
Having Bluetooth version 5.0 is a plus because that reduces the latency, there is almost no latency when you’re watching movies or videos on your phone, and relaying the sound through the speaker there is almost no lag or delay between the visual and the audio, that’s something very good. It also has an inbuilt microphone for answering ending calls which is just fine, the person on the other end could hear me clearly, so long as I was comparatively close to the speaker and not too far away from it, it was fine.
JBL Clip 3
The JBL Clip 3 comes in a bunch of different colors. As far as the features go, you get 10 hours worth of battery life, it’s IPX7 dust and water-resistant, and it features a built-in speakerphone. This speaker comes in a nicely packed box, and inside the box, you get your Clip 3 speaker, then you get the JBL micro USB charging cable, and you get your usual books. If we compare this with Clip 2, apart from the difference in their sound there is the difference in their price that is Clip 2 is for 40 dollars and the Clip 3 is for 60 dollars.
With these Clip speakers, you can’t use JBL connect and pair 100 of them together, you could only have one. When you hit the power button, you will see the LED light on the top it means it’s officially in pairing mode. I tested out the sound quality and performance of the speakerphone in this speaker by calling one of my friends. She said I sounded nice and clear, and also she sounded good to me. It’s water-resistant, you got the built-in speakerphone, built-in carabiner Clip, the only thing that’s missing is your built-in 3.5 cable.
SOUND QUALITY:
Tribit StormBox Micro
I tested out the sound quality on this with a bunch of songs from different genres at 50% volume. By my test, I felt like it’s pretty loud, not bad. Like, this is loud enough for you and your whole hiking group and everyone else on the trail to enjoy it. Actually, that’s a far more reasonable listening volume at about 20% there for personal enjoyment. Not bad, definitely a far sight better than your phone.
JBL Clip 3
I tested out the sound quality on this speaker with a bunch of different songs from different genres at max volume. It sounded quite full, it doesn’t sound muddy or thin like we expected from most small Bluetooth speakers. Even at louder volumes, we found the audio performance holding up well especially, in the mids. I did notice some audio quality and resolutions fade a little in the higher frequencies. As far as the bass on this, the bass sounds good without any distortion or breaking up.
WHICH ONE IS BETTER FOR THE PRICE?
In my opinion, the Tribit StormBox Micro is better for the price than the JBL Clip 3 because it sounds better than the Clip 3, it does have a USB Type-C at this price range, and it does support syncing up with another speaker to get a stereo sound effect which the JBL Clip 3 couldn’t do. The Tribit StormBox Micro is definitely something you can buy, if you’re looking for something that is ultra-portable, packs a punch in terms of sound, good sound quality, and really nice materials, it feels really good in the hand at a lower price range.
