INTRODUCTION:
Turtle Beach Stealth 600
This headset is one of the popular and best-selling headsets of Turtle Beach. This is a wireless headset with some good features and decent sound quality. This one is a budget wireless headset for gaming, so there are no extra technological features.
Turtle Beach Stealth 700
There are a few improvements in the Stealth 700 from the previous version. But, all the improvements are useful and important. The design and comfort of the headset are nice and quite same as all the Turtle Beach headsets.
DESIGN:
Turtle Beach Stealth 600
For the most part, Stealth 600 is made up of plastic materials which are both matte and glossy. While the plastics will look like they’re of the highest of quality, they definitely do feel nice and sturdy and I have no fears about this headset falling apart. You also will find an adjustable extension on each of the headset to adjust the length.
Turtle Beach Stealth 700
This is a really nice style headset and it does kind of fold flat. So, if you do want to kind of put this on the table when you’re not using it or do whatever you need to do. I like the feel of it. Now, it is in all kinds of plastic design but it kind of stretches nicely. I don’t really have any fear or worries that this is gonna break.
COMFORT:
Turtle Beach Stealth 600
Both of the ear cups are surrounded by nice and breathable cloth material. This is much better than some materials you’ll find on other headsets that try to use faux leather and other types of materials.
Turtle Beach Stealth 700
If you take a look at the actual ear cup, it does also swivel and move a little bit and this is gonna give you a nice comfortable fit regardless of your head size. There’s a nice and plush material.
It’s also glass friendly and I wear glasses when I game and some headsets just give me a little bit of a headache because they’re just pushing a little bit too hard against my glasses. So, this is a little bit softer on the ends just to accommodate glasses. So, I really appreciate it.
There was really no fatigue, there were no issues with wearing this headset. I like this special chamber that they have with the ear cups that allows you to just kind of slide your eyewear into it and it doesn’t really put any pressure on your eyewear. I had no issues with wearing it for prolonged periods of time.
FEATURES:
Turtle Beach Stealth 600
According to the box, the Stealth 600 is made for the ps4 and the ps4 pro but tends to have neither one of those consoles I’ve been using it on PC and for the most part, it works amazing. Inside of the actual box, there is a Stealth 600 headset itself and the USB wireless dongle because this is a wireless headset. You also will be getting USB micro cable and a package labeled literature.
While the right ear cup is a complete barren but the left ear cup is really where the controls at. On the left ear cup, you’ll find a number of controls and buttons. So, you will find a general control wheel for the volume and you’ll also find a control wheel for your party chat and this is that feature that isn’t available on the PC version but it does work on the ps4 version which I do think it’s pretty awesome. You’ll also find two buttons one for power and one for mode.
The power button doing the obvious of powering on and off the headset and the mode button allows you to toggle through the different sound profiles that Turtle Beach does have built into their headset. Tucked away both of those buttons are going to be the microphone.
This also has a great battery life that’s something. I only have to charge it once in the week while using it continuously every single day.
Turtle Beach Stealth 700
It’s a premium style headset, you get active noise cancellation. It’s Bluetooth, so you can pair it to your phone if you want to. The package says it’s superhuman hearing means that you’ll hear those footsteps, you’ll hear that reload from behind you. You have DTS Dolby Digital and wireless game in chat. So, basically you will get all your sounds from the game as well as your chat from your friends. There is a function of flip up the microphone to mute it.
There’s a wireless dongle, you will have to plug into your USB port of your ps4. This is how it’s gonna actively transfer the sound or chat, everything wirelessly to your headphones. There’s your digital cable and then you do get a micro USB cable for charging. There’s a little mic for your active cancellation on the side of the headset.
Either the chat gets really loud or the game gets really loud or sometimes you can’t even hear the chat because the game sounds are just so loud. So, you gotta pause, and you gotta go into the settings and change it. All in the meanwhile, you’re getting destroyed in that game. In this, you do have these independent volume wheels for your game sounds and then for your chat. So, the chats too low or too high, you can change it on the headset.
On the left ear cup, we have a couple of buttons. One is your power and another one is your Bluetooth button and your superhuman hearing button, you can activate that when you need it to. On the bottom, you have your micro USB and your three-and-a-half millimeter headphone jack. You also have the status LED right over there.
Turtle Beach gives you an app and it’s compatible with either iOS or Android. Once you set up your headphone, you really don’t have to come back into this software unless you want to change this. You have your mic monitor and when active noise cancellation is not activated, you can actually adjust the mic monitor and this will just give you a little bit feedback you can actually hear yourself but I found that at higher levels, people on the other end of the chat said I had a lot of feedback. So, I would generally just leave it in the middle but again if you have active noise cancellation active, you cannot change that slider. So, most of us were really not going to change the mic monitor.
Superhuman hearing can be activated on the headset itself or within the app. So, this is not a toggle that you’re gonna have to change continually but my experience with superhuman hearing, I really couldn’t hear any difference. It sounded great whether it was on or off and I could hear all the sounds around me. Chat boost is what it sounds like, it’ll just boost the volume of your chat if you need it to. Active noise cancellation will block out those ambient sounds and just give you an overall more immersive setting.
You also have to surround mode, you have some presets like game, movie, music, and stereo. In stereo, if you don’t want to hear all their surround sound goodness you can do that. I really just leave it on the game as that’s what I use these headphones for. The game preset signature sound is awesome, it gives you the sound signature of how the developers actually wanted you to hear their game but for me, I like my bass and treble boost. So that’s generally what I leave it on. You can just play around with those settings and see what works best for you.
The next page of the software gives you the voice prompt and the level of the tones that are for the actual headset, do not disturb mode will disable all those notifications from your Bluetooth device. The next option that we have is mic noise gate and they generally try to do is block out all the background noise if there is any. So, I would leave that on personally but again once you set all of these up, you don’t have to come back into this application.
My one complaint with these headphones and it’s pretty minor. It’s just the button layout, the way they design these buttons. Now, it does look aesthetically pleasing, it makes the headset look a lot better but when you’re trying to figure out where the Bluetooth button is when you get that phone call and you’re in an intense battle, it’s actually pretty hard and I’ve pressed the power button by mistake multiple times.
When you do have a hundred percent wireless Bluetooth headset, you don’t want them to quit out in the middle of a game but you can charge and play if you need to. So that’s not really an issue. I actually did that once when I needed to but I can say that the rate at 10 hour time with the thousand milliamp-hour battery was just on point. I got just under 10 hours on these, so definitely a plus with these headphones.
MICROPHONE:
Turtle Beach Stealth 600
Now, the microphone does have a position, activation, and deactivation. So, while it is tucked away, it is deactivated and when you bring it down, it’s then activated.
The mic sound quality is pretty good. I can confidently say that this headsets mic is just very nice and you can clearly hear the human voices. There are no pop sounds when I tested this mic.
Turtle Beach Stealth 700
There is a boom microphone and I actually prefer a boom over a built-in microphone just because I think the sound is a little bit better. The mute function is also very easy, when you flip up it will be muted and when you flip down the mic, you are ready to go. It was very clear and it’s a Bluetooth microphone. So, you could technically use on everyday life.
The overall mic quality is just awesome. On the other end, people can clearly hear the sound. I am really surprised by the sound of recorded Twitch Streams. I wish they’d little bit louder sound.
SOUND:
Turtle Beach Stealth 600
The sound is super subjective and it’s all about the listener what type of tones they like and what type of audio profile they like. So, everything that I’m about to say pretty much pertains to me and what type of sound profiles that I like. So, when it comes to the Turtle Beach Stealth 600, I think it’s an absolutely fantastic headset especially considering its price tag.
At that particular price tag of $100, I definitely compared to the headset that I use on my PC on the day-to-day basis and that’s actually the HyperX cloud flight which is a little bit more expensive yet the Stealth 600 sound considerably better. When I say it sounds better, I can only describe it as the audio sounding much more clear and crisp and the surround sound definitely gives you more of a sense of awareness to be able to hear things around you such as enemy footsteps or gunfire. So, if you’re on the market for a budget wireless headset, I think the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 is a fantastic purchase at only $100.
Turtle Beach Stealth 700
This headset has 50-millimeter drivers that sounded absolutely awesome. I hooked this up with an optical cable to my ps4 and I activate a DTS sound and the 7.1 sound was absolutely great. Bass on this was excellent, so the explosions really came to life, shooting a weapon, shooting a gun, or maybe just hearing the narrative on say something like uncharted just came to life.
There were no problems with vocals. Again, this is a gaming headset. So, everything’s pretty much optimized for gaming and they did an excellent job. There is a button for your superhuman hearing when I activated it I did not hear any difference whatsoever. I really tried, I played a bunch of different games, I just couldn’t get any noticeable difference between this and the regular These headphones also offer you active noise cancellation and they did a pretty good job.
WHICH TO BUY?
Both the headsets are from the same series. So, there are just little bit changes or improvements from Stealth 600. If you’re ps4 player then Stealth 600 will be great for you because it has Bluetooth, DTS surround sound, and noise cancellation. If you’re PC or Xbox player then the Stealth 600 will be better and it will save you $50.
