Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Ultimate Ears Megablast

The Ultimate Ears Megablast is just kind of the upgrade, the bigger not necessarily louder or anything like that just a more mature version of the Ultimate Ears Megaboom speaker. One of the great features, which makes this better than the UE Megaboom is the voice assistant that is the built-in Amazon Alexa. This speaker is retailing for around a hundred and ninety dollars currently on Amazon.

Bose SoundLink Revolve+

Bose is always known for its qualitative performance and sound. As with the other Bose products, the SoundLink Revolve Plus from Bose is also a qualitative product. This speaker is actually an updated version speaker of its predecessor the SoundLink Revolve. This speaker is retailing for a higher price of around two hundred and fifty dollars.

DESIGN:

Ultimate Ears Megablast

If you’re familiar with the UE lineup, especially their Megaboom, Megablast, Boom lineup the vertical ones, you’ll notice this is a very familiar-looking speaker. However, the lines are much more vertical, less rounded, very sleek, and very kind of straight edge to the point. This does seem a little bit bigger than the UE Megaboom and this is a very familiar interface to anyone, who has used UE in the past, the big plus and a big minus control your volume. At the top of the speaker, you’re gonna have your power button, on the front you got your plus and minus, and at the bottom is where you’re gonna go and charge these up, that is where you’re gonna find your micro USB.

Just keep in mind, you won’t be able to fit every micro USB in here just the way that slit is cut out, you will have to use the UE one that is included. The D-ring that comes with this can actually be exchanged for another style of D-ring, where you can actually simply place it on a charging mount, which’s additional 40 dollars and does not come included with the speaker itself. Overall, I just really like the build quality, the rubber is very high-grade soft kind of touch, and the canvas is kind of cloth material is very nice. I’m a huge fan of the way it looks, this does come in a bunch of colors.

Bose SoundLink Revolve+

On the top of this speaker, it has a fiber handle to carry it, on top you have an on/off button, you have a Bluetooth button, you have source select button, you have the volume up and volume low button, and you have that reset button, and there are some holes which can act as a mic input. On the bottom of the speaker, you have a universal screw for a tripod mount, so you can mount it on any tripod.

Also, at the bottom, you have the connection points you can use on a charging plate. The charging plate does not come with the speaker, so you have to buy it separately. On the back of the speaker, you have your aux input, and you have your input for micro USB for charging the speaker. The weight of this speaker is about 800 grams maybe plus or minus 20 or 30 grams more. The battery life for the speaker is about 15 hours, so you will get around 12 to 15 hours depending upon at what volume you are playing it.

FEATURES:

Ultimate Ears Megablast

When we look at the packaging itself maybe it’ll give us a little hint of what’s inside. The actual packaging of this speaker comes in a nice box. The box claims that Ultimate Ears Megablast is a powerful Wi-Fi Bluetooth speaker, this also does have Amazon Alexa so if you’re into that whole smart speaker, this will help you out. On the back of the box though, just give you a few of the specs that it does have Alexa voice, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, waterproof, 360 sound which means if you’re outdoors depending on where you are you’re gonna get the same amount of sound blown into your face which is always a positive, and up to 16 hours of battery life.

It’s just a very rugged speaker all around, you don’t have to be worried about anything. It’s waterproof IP67, which means you can be underwater up to a meter for about half an hour, which is a huge deal, and it does come with a two-year warranty which is awesome. I’m always such a huge fan of the packaging UE does, it is colorful and pleasant packaging, and it really does have a personality. In the box, you got your Megablast speaker themselves, you got your literature, your power brick, and your micro USB cable to charge this up and that’s pretty much it in the box.

To pair these up, power on the speaker, go to the Bluetooth setting in your phone and select the Megablast and it will ask you to install the app. The app is kind of your main hub for interacting with the speaker where you can set up your EQ, look at your battery life, play with your Amazon Alexa settings, all of that fun stuff. You’re gonna be greeted by a very minimal app, you got pretty much three buttons in a volume rocker, one there allows you to toggle on and off the microphone, and also there is your EQ.

You can have a whole bunch of adjustments there on the EQ setting, there’s a whole bunch of presets as well voices, cramped space, bass-jump, standard, all that kind of fun stuff, and then there is your main kind of settings shows whether you are connected to Wi-Fi, you’re connected to your Bluetooth, or you connected into Amazon or not. It’s very easy to interact with, not very complicated because at the end of the day it is just a Bluetooth speaker, its main purpose is to provide you with music and now it has the added benefit of Alexa but it shouldn’t be very complicated at all.

Bose SoundLink Revolve+

The moment you switch this speaker on, it will tell you the battery percentage, and also the Bluetooth indicator will start blinking. It also has that NFC connectivity and the moment you connect it up, it will tell you to which device it has been connected. The SoundLink Revolve Plus is actually really well made and it’s kind of heavy. It has 360 sound which I really appreciate because when you place this somewhere it doesn’t matter where you stand or sit, you can hear it equally well.

It works with the smart assistants which I really appreciate, things like Siri or Google Assistant where you can hit the button and then ask your question which is great because it also obviously has a speakerphone and it has 16-hour battery life. There are so many different Bluetooth speakers out there right now that you can get for much less than $300 but this thing has blown me away. There is also an app that you need to use to connect to this. It’s got all the normal features that you would expect from a Bose Bluetooth speaker.

SOUND QUALITY:

Ultimate Ears Megablast

I tested out the sound quality in this speaker with 50% volume and I tested this out with a bunch of different songs. By my test, I felt like this is very loudspeaker, and it sounds fantastic. Even when the Volume is at maximum level, it doesn’t crack the music and it’s the same quality all the way. If you have used any other speakers from the Ultimate Ears, then you must know the sound quality of UE speakers. Especially, if you have used the Megaboom from the UE which sounds really good, and this sounds almost the same as the Megaboom, even better than that.

Bose SoundLink Revolve+

I tested out the sound quality on this speaker with maximum volume and also, I tested out a bunch of different songs. While the music was playing, I was rotating it because this is an omnidirectional speaker so the sound quality was not changed. So, no matter in which direction you play it or you keep it, the sound coming out from this will be equal in all the directions.

Bose SoundLink Revolve+

WHICH ONE IS WORTH BUYING?

In my opinion, the Ultimate Ears Megablast is worth buying than the Bose SoundLink Revolve Plus because if you are an average consumer and if you gonna listen to the Revolve Plus and then listen to an $80 Bluetooth speaker and you will not be able to tell the difference. Especially, at a lower price than the Revolve Plus, the Megablast sounds better, and they also have all types of features including pretty much all the things that the Revolve Plus has.
