The Wonderboom 2 from the Ultimate Ears is the updated version Bluetooth speaker of the Wonderboom. There are some changes made in the Wonderboom which made the newer version. This speaker is retailing for around fifty dollars currently. This is one of the best Bluetooth speakers in the market which is also budget-friendly.

The Ultimate Ears Wonderboom is a Bluetooth speaker by Logitech that comes with a fantastic design and features. The Wonderboom is the original version of the Wonderboom series. These are dust and waterproof rated and this also floats in the water. This speaker is retailing for around seventy dollars currently which is more than its new version the Wonderboom 2.

The Wonderboom 2 is a little bit bigger than Wonderboom ever-so-slightly. You can definitely notice when you put it in your hand and you hold it. There are a couple of different new features they have. The new strap is like a little rubber ring on the back there with a little elastic band and you can still get your carabiner to go in there. You do have a carabiner so you can use this to hook it to something easier than just a little rope there, that’s a bonus.

With the Ultimate Ears logo there in the Wonderboom people couldn’t find the button so they made it even easier to find with an actual circular button there. Another new feature on the bottom is the outdoor mode, it basically takes away all the bass and gives you more of the vocals to get louder. So, if you’re in a door environment you want to crank as loud as you can to hear it or you at least want to hear what they’re saying to be playing a podcast or listen to the news that kind of thing.

The build quality on this looks solid and the design is really great. Being dustproof, if these get dirtier you can just clean it with the water because it’s IPX 7 rated too. In the front, you get dedicated volume control and all other control buttons are on the top starting with the power on and off button with the status indicator light, and a Bluetooth pairing button on the top.

In the middle on top of Ultimate Ears Wonderboom, you also have a multifunctional button, where if you push it one time you’re going to play and pause, if you press it to double-time you go to the next song or three times. There is also one flexible rope to install the speaker on your backpack with the hook if you want to. The charging port for the speaker is on the back which is a micro USB.

The Wonderboom will pair with the Wonderboom 2 you got to hit the two buttons on top together and it will make a little sound and then they get connected. This is just the party mode it’s not the stereo mode, you have to buy two new Wonderboom 2 to get the stereo mode. These speakers are the way you made them and they cannot be updated. There are no updates ever you’re gonna get out of these speakers firmware wise, there’s no app, no anything like that. It’s out of the box what you get and that’s what you get to the end until it dies.

The Wonderboom 2 is naturally a little bit louder, a little bit more bass, and it’s a definite improvement. One of the differences that have changed is the waterproof rating, the Wonderboom 2 is IPX67 the Wonderboom is IPX7 it just means you can go a little bit deeper and last a bit longer under the water. The Wonderboom 2 also floats and the main thing with a lot of other speakers is if you’re on by the pool and if it falls off you can’t find it but you can have a chance to find the Wonderboom.

Battery life has improved by three hours in Wonderboom 2. The Wonderboom was really good 10 hours is good, I mean it wouldn’t last if you crank it up all the way. It’s not gonna last 10 hours and it’ll last probably maybe five hours if you crank it up all the way. You may get another hour or so out of the Wonderboom 2 if you crank it up all the way.

I tested out the Bluetooth range on this, by my test I feel like the connection for the Wonderboom 2 is a lot faster than the Wonderboom. I had a lot of trouble before with the Wonderboom, while changing songs there, sometimes I just wouldn’t connect to like turn it off turn it back on, go into Bluetooth settings and make it connect, and then finally it would work. So far the Wonderboom 2 is been as soon as you turn it on, it connects really quickly. With the Wonderboom 2 absolutely no interruptions, and no skipping, till the meters they claim.

The Wonderboom comes with the dustproof and waterproof rated IPX7 and I have tested it myself as well and the good thing is it also floats too. These are also drop-proof from up to 5 feet or 1.5 meters. I have also checked this feature out, did a drop test and the speaker is still working. This also comes with 360-degree surround sound, 10 hours of play time with a Bluetooth range of 30 meters.

You can also connect two Wonderboom speakers to party louder but you will not get the true wireless stereo. With this Wonderboom within the packaging, you get a user safety manual and a little instruction, one tangle-free micro USB charging cable, and last but not least your Wonderboom portable wireless Bluetooth speaker.

SOUND QUALITY:

Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 2

The Wonderboom 2 is comparable in loudness with other small Bluetooth speakers in that $100 price range. Definitely enough for small rooms and some medium-sized rooms as well. The one big critique that I noticed overall what the speaker is more for entertainment rather than achieving Ultimate audio immersion here. Absolutely this isn’t an audiophile speaker, at least sitting too close to it the audio did sound a little distorted in the high frequencies. But when I slowly walked away from there, the better it sounds.

Ultimate Ears Wonderboom

Regarding sound quality which is crispy clear with big bass, it’s beautiful everywhere you go. You can use it indoors, outdoors anywhere you want. This has 360 degrees of spatial sound effect which gives you a great sound experience. Because it 360 degrees you can place this at whichever angle you want and it will sound the same evenly.

WHICH TO BUY?

If your question is should I spend more money to get the Wonderboom 2 or get the Wonderboom, all that depends on what you are wanting. If you want the best, and you like the better sound quality then pay a little bit more money and get the Wonderboom 2. If you’ve been waiting for the Wonderboom for a while and you weren’t sure, then it’s truly dropped in price now, so you can get that if you want but currently the Wonderboom 2 is retailing for a lower price than the Wonderboom so better you buy the new one and grab the opportunity before it starts to retail on a higher price.
