INTRODUCTION:

Blue en.CORE 200

The Blue en.CORE 200 is the successor of the Blue en.CORE 100 which is the predecessor. This is one of the great dynamic microphones from Blue at a budget-friendly price. This microphone is retailing for around a hundred and fifty dollars. 

Blue en.CORE 300

The Blue en.CORE 300 is the latest microphone in the en.CORE series microphone from Blue. This microphone is retailing for around two hundred dollars which is quite among the higher price range but still it good for the price. This is a nice condenser microphone at this price range.

DESIGN:

Blue en.CORE 200

It also has a little LED on the back for the 48-volt phantom power, if the LED isn’t lit up means 48-volt phantom power is not running through the microphone, meaning the microphone will not work. So, if you happen to get this and it’s not playing any audio or recording audio, you should check the LED, if the 48-volt phantom power on your mixer or your interface isn’t on this microphone won’t work, and they’re troubleshooting your mic. It also has an output transformer for increased gain before feedback and what all of that means it goes back to the active capsule means it’s going to smooth out your vocals and boost the gain of this microphone, so you don’t need as much power.

This microphone also has an all-metal heavy construction and is electroplated meaning they actually took electrons and put some sort of enamel on the outside of the electrode but truly traumatized it to the outside. It makes a very durable microphone, I mean this thing is probably more durable than the SM57. The speaker grille, especially one of the toughest speaker droves I’ve ever seen on a microphone, it’s insane. The little ring that they put around it is made, so it’s not gonna hit it, get cited, impacted or dropped or something like that, it’s not going to dent the speaker grille. The handle itself is just very durable.

Blue en.CORE 300

I’m really impressed with the designs that Blue Microphones has been coming up with for their en.CORE mics. They’ve always been known for being very original with their designs but the en.CORE 300 really has some unique features. One is on the front, you’ll notice the logo is surrounded by a pink background and that actually lights up from the phantom power it’s being except the mixer. So, when you are getting phantom power because that logo is actually going to glow, you can’t really see it much if it’s light and bright in the room but if the room is a little bit dimmed you’ll just see a faint glow from that, it’s really kind of cool-looking.

You get a really unique thing about this microphone design is the grille design, and you’ll notice that doesn’t quite look like anything else you’ve ever seen before because it really is nothing else designed like this. So, it’s one of those things you’re either gonna love or you’re going to hate but it’s definitely really unique and personal, I really like it. The look of it is something that people are going to notice. It also has the ribbed handle that the other en.CORE mics the 100 and 200 have, just feels really comfortable in your hands, and if you get sweaty palms or anything it helps you just hold on to the mic better it’s not going to slip around in your hand as much. Overall a really nice looking mic, I really like it a lot.

It is also a cardioid polar pattern it’s the one that looks like a heart pattern meaning if I’m speaking in the front it’s gonna hear me if I’m speaking behind, it’s barely gonna hear me and due to the capsule design it has low handling noise. So, if I’m passing this back and forth between my hands, it’s not gonna have that handling sound that you would hear. You’re not gonna feel a bunch of feedback through the microphone capsule, it’s almost like having a shock mount internally just like the Rode Procaster does.

The specs are very important to this microphone, all dynamics have great specs but this one beats the SM57 on the spec front as well as the durability. It’s 50 Hertz to 16,000 kilohertz that’s 1,000 more than the SM57, it also has 25 ohms of there infinite, has 147 decibels of sound pressure level, and it’s very easily driven because of the 48-volt phantom power. This is a very easy microphone to pick up throw in a bag and just travel with. It’s not big and bulky like a Procaster is granted.

The Procaster is a phenomenal microphone this doesn’t beat the Procaster by any way shape or form but this one’s easier to take with me and just throw in a bag, that’s the one really awesome thing about this microphone. If you’re a live performer this thing is probably gonna be your go-to, you can use this in a studio setting, you can use this in a live performance setting, and use this out at a convention if you are streamers and things of that sort, and you’re not gonna have to worry about it breaking.

Blue en.CORE 300

The Blue en.CORE 300 is a professional handheld vocal mic and this mic is a condenser mic. As compared to a dynamic mic what most of you probably used to use for live performance, the difference is there and the most important thing you need to know is that a condenser mic has a requirement it’s called phantom power. It’s a 48-volt power signal that your mixer or separate devices send to the microphone to power it up.

Most microphones don’t require power, so if you’re interested in this mic and you’re gonna get going to get this mic, just check and make sure first that your mixer does have phantom power, most modern mixers do, so that’s not going to be an issue for most people. The Blue en.CORE mics come with a canvas case that’s actually felt-lined inside and really helps protect the mic keeps it from getting scratched up, and also even cleans the mic when you’re putting it in and out of the case. 

PERFORMANCE:

The rear rejection is fantastic on this thing, if you use this to put like noise gates for stuff like that on there on your OBS, it’s gonna take out more of that background noise, it’s fantastic, it’s easily driven by any of your interfaces and mixers and 100% worth your money. Actually, the cardioid polar pattern in this microphone really performs its function very well.

Blue en.CORE 300

On the lower end of things for bass response, the frequency response is pretty flat all the way down to even below 70 Hertz, so really good base response. This is going to make male vocals sound really rich and warm. The high-frequency response extended what that’s going to add is more clarity to the sound that you typically hear in-studio recordings or like a DJ on the radio. You just hear more crispness and a more realistic sound to their voice. So, between having the extended low-frequency response to extended high-frequency response you get a really crisp clear sound that has a rich warmth to it.

WHICH TO BUY?

In my opinion, Blue en.CORE 300 is really a good microphone for its price and just blows away everything else anywhere near the price range. If you can’t afford the en.CORE 300 I definitely recommend the en.CORE 200. Both of these microphones do sound really good, looks really good, and also they are really good for the price, so if you’re able to afford the en.CORE 300 then go for it, if not then the 200 is also a good choice. Again, if you are looking for a great vocal microphone for church or band or whatever, the en.CORE 300 is really good for you to buy.
