Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Bose SounLink Micro

As the name suggests, the Bose SoundLink Micro is a very small tiny little Bluetooth wireless speaker. This measures around 9.8 by 9.8 millimeters, so you can imagine how tiny really this is. This speaker is retailing for quite a budget-friendly price that is for around a hundred dollars.

JBL Go 2

The Go 2 is a pretty cheap and affordable Bluetooth speaker made by a reputable brand called the JBL. This speaker is retailing for a cheaper price you can afford very easily that is for around thirty dollars. At this price range, you are also getting IPX7 waterproof and also, it comes with a speakerphone.

DESIGN:

Bose SounLink Micro

This pebble-shaped speaker is really nice and portable, so you can literally carry this anywhere you want. There is a strap on the back of the speaker, that can be used to strap it on to anything. On the top of the speaker, you got your micro USB charging port, you got your power button there as well with the Bluetooth pairing button. On the front of the speaker is where you have got your volume buttons as well as a functional button to pause and play your music, or this can be used for making and receiving phone calls or can be used to activate your voice assistance as well.

JBL Go 2

The design of the speaker was what made me curious about the speaker in the first place. I like minimalist-looking things and this was exactly that. When holding the speaker in the hands for the first time, you will quickly realize that the back insides were not metal but soft plastic, even though it really looks like metal. I was quite impressed at this material choice, as it makes it grippier and more acceptable to shocks when dropped. We can’t stress how nice the speaker feels in your hand, the soft plastic really does make the speaker. On the top, we have our usual media controls and on one side, there is a watertight flap you can open to reveal the micro USB charging input, and a 3.5-millimeter headphone jack, if you choose for a wired option.

FEATURES:

Bose SounLink Micro

This speaker offers you six hours of battery life and it’s IPX7 dust and water resistance, so this is very rugged and you wouldn’t have any problem when you are having a pool party and also, you’ve got a scratch-resistant rubber material around the speaker which means again it’s durable and rugged. When you get this into the water like a swimming pool or taking the sea, this will sink to the bottom, so do not take it in there without strapping it down otherwise you’ll lose it. Besides that, though this is water and dust-resistant, you don’t have to worry about that at all.

If you have a few of these speakers, you can connect them together using the Bose Connect app and get into the party mode, or if you have two of these then you can pair them together and get the stereo output. So, you can use that to pair a few other Bose SoundLink Micro speakers together or other compatible Bose speakers as well, so this is really good for that. When they are paired together, it sounds really loud and powerful. You do have a companion app for this speaker called the Bose Connect app, that allows you to connect this speaker with other Bose speakers for stereo and party mode. Also, in the app, you can see which song you are playing, and the battery percentage left.

JBL Go 2

As far as the unboxing experience, it was a pretty simple one, nothing really special. Inside the box, you have the micro USB cord to charge the speaker. The thing that we found very odd was the fact that it was all wrapped in the documentation. Personally, I don’t know why they need this many papers, and the way that they packaged it was not the best. But otherwise, the unboxing is pretty simple. This is IPX7 waterproof and if you forgot that, this was a JBL speaker they have their logo in huge letters on the front and they also engraved their logo on the back too to make sure you are a proud owner of a JBL Go 2.

When using the speaker, you will instantly be greeted with the well-known JBL sound which is associate with high-quality speakers. Another feature that the speaker has is that it is IPX7 waterproof as mentioned before and it’s definitely able to get drenched in water and still be able to survive. It can be submerged for 30 minutes at a depth of 3 feet. For being a compact and it to Go 2 speaker, we need to know about its pocketability. It does fit in your pocket but it makes it look like you have a wallet-sized lump on your leg. In terms of transportability, it can fit in your backpack, I just wished it had a hook to hang it anywhere.

SOUND QUALITY:

Bose SounLink Micro

Overall sound quality is pretty good up to 2/3 just keep that in mind, once you hit 2/3 the sound quality gets disturbed because it’s horrible above that but below that it sounds excellent. I would say the bass is good, the mids and the highs are good, everything meshes really well, you don’t get any distortion and it just sounds great. As far as how loud it gets, it’s a tiny speaker there’s not much you can do about it, the laws of physics apply here even for Bose. So, the volume is pretty mediocre, it’s not gonna get too loud.

JBL Go 2

What makes this speaker stand out is that despite its small size it is able to deliver a good amount of noise when playing music at the max volume. It does get a bit distorted when hitting those highs. The Go 2 is clearer in lower volumes however when maxed out the Bose’s retained their clarity and win.

WHICH TO BUY?

If you’re someone who loves bass and I would say you should pay more to get the Bose SoundLink Micro as it has a lot more bass than the JBL Go 2. The JBL Go 2 is definitely a good option for someone who enjoys listening to music casually and likes to carry around a speaker, just in case it’s ever needed. Also, if your want a good Bluetooth speaker at a cheaper price then you should buy the JBL Go 2, and if you can afford hundred dollars then you should definitely buy the Bose SoundLink Micro.
