So, as it stands, I have yet to come across a headset that performs as well as the HS70s, with the lovely lows and the crisp highs. The design of them oozes quality and the attention to detail is second to none. With them being wireless, you’re not confined to the reach of the cable you often get of wired headsets, instead, you can roam the house with little interference (I was listening to music 2 storeys below my PC). Sure they cost a pretty penny, but I honestly think they are worth it.

All in all, we were highly pleased by the performance of the HS70. It produced really great sounds for a wireless unit. The bass was enhanced but it isn’t much that it completely overpowers the sounds; instead, it delivers an excellently light boost for that added rumble. We listened to music and everything sounded great, so we’re definitely giving the Corsair HS70 two thumbs-up for its performance.

Portability, powerful bass and an amazing soundstage rule with Corsair’s latest wireless gaming headset. It’s not without flaws, but as far as sound goes, it might just be as close to gamers’ heaven as you can get.

The Corsair HS70 Wireless Gaming Headset is a great wireless headset that untethers you from your desk and won’t break the bank.

All in all, the Cloud Flight is a great accessory, but its what I’d classify as a one-trick pony. In a cool gaming environment, there’s no doubt the Cloud Flight brings impressive audio feedback and comfort to the table. Outside of that niche, it’s flaws, such as the sheer incompatibility with warm weather, are way more obvious. On that note, I find my trusty Audio Technica more suitable for general-purpose use.

By PCgamessn.com
While certainly worthy of consideration, HyperX hasn’t cracked the formula like it did with the HyperX Cloud Alpha – at least not yet, anyways. I’m looking forward to see HyperX does with its next iteration of wireless headset, I have a feeling it could be one to look out for.

By PCworld
HyperX’s debut wireless headset is missing some key features, like chat mix and microphone monitoring, but it looks good, sounds great, and feels excellent. Another contender for our $150 headset pick.

Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Corsair HS70

The design of the headset is just as same as the HS series headsets. The comfort is good enough but there’s no lot of padding. The sound of the headset is good and especially for gaming it just impressive by considering the price range of the headset. The mic is not that much good because the sound level of the mic is very low.

HyperX Cloud Flight

HyperX has been arguably good in the wired headset market due to a great combination of sound, build quality, comfort and price point. Many people searching for the wireless model of HyperX and the Cloud Flight is the wireless headset to fulfill everyone’s dream. This headset is also like all other HyperX headsets, everything is nice and good.

DESIGN:

Corsair HS70

It’s very to the point and a good looking, I would say simple but stylish and I think maybe the black version looks a bit better. It has a combination of metal and plastic for its construction. There are metal grills on the side and the headband extends, so far no extra sound on them even when flexing. So, they feel well made. I don’t have any complaints about the design of the headset. In my opinion, it looks good and without mic, it can be used outside the home also.

HyperX Cloud Flight

In this, you’re getting a steel frame with the rest of the build is primarily plastic. At 315 grams with the mic attached, this unit feels substantially lighter than both the Arctis and G933.

The outside of the ear cups are done in a rubberized matte black and feature the HyperX logo. This only lights up in red and you get three options here either full off, full-on and a breathing effect, outside of that the only splash of color on this headset at all is the exposed wiring on either cup also in red.

COMFORT:

Corsair HS70

The good thing in this headset is its memory foam is quite comfortable. The clamping force seems pretty good too. I used them many hours like 4 to 5 hours and they felt fine but they’re solid enough to stone your head when you look down. There is a very little rotation on the cups, a bit more tilt but that’s enough for comfort.

HyperX Cloud Flight

The ear-cup materials are leatherette and the memory foam here is pretty dense, more so than the cloud 2 is more aligned with like the revolvers. I would put the comfort somewhere between the revolver and the alpha which is really high praise because HyperX makes some of the most comfortable wired headsets I’ve ever used.

This is the first closed-back headset that I have had to take a break in about the three-hour mark due to heat buildup. I don’t generally have this issue but this really seals it in. Also, these ear cups swivel 90 degrees and unlike the Arctis 7, they’re very comfortable to wear.

The padding on the other side of the headband is a really soft leather-like material as well but the density on the foam here is way different, it’s really loose and you would almost think it was filled with air as opposed to memory foam. These are a little bit clamping more so than the Arctis 7 not nearly in the same ballpark as the G933 and the good news is that I could adjust these to make them way too big for my head which is extremely difficult to do.

FEATURES:

Corsair HS70

This is compatible with PC and ps4. There are the usual controls for volume, mic, and power along with USB for charging and you get the wireless adapter and charging cable with it. One weird addition is the hard bit inside the 2 centimeter deep cups.

The range is meant to be up to 40 feet but it can barely reach one of the rooms around a wall with the door open, that’s about seven meters away. So, I found them the signal isn’t as strong as the others. Battery life is said to be up to 16 hours and I did actually run out one day. So, maybe put them on charge each time you walk away for a few hours and the weight is about 335 grams.

HyperX Cloud Flight

This puts it at the top end of all the headsets and the HyperX lineup and it actually comes in slightly higher than the Logitech G933 and the SteelSeries Arctis 7.

Controls on this unit are very sparse. The left ear cup doubles as a mic mute make it really easy to find. You also find a power button that also assigns a lighting mode. There’s a 3.5 millimeter port for analog use for your phone or your console. It is worth noting here that Wireless support is only available for PC and ps4. You’ll also find a mini USB port for charging. The right ear cups ports the volume adjustment which controls system volume digitally in increments of 2 decibels, this is similar to what you’d find on media controls on a keyboard and strangely absent is any sort of battery life indicator.

Wireless series provided via a USB dongle and the battery life is rated at an absolutely insane 30 hours with the lighting disabled. If you use the breathing effect that’s rated for 18 hours or if you have it on full blast, it’s 13 hours. I can’t tell you if this thing will do a full 30 but I’ve used it for two solid days, over 10 hours each day and it’s still got some battery life.

There are some negative points or downside in the HyperX Cloud Flight and we can also say that these things are less in this headset comparing to all other wireless headsets. There’s no software which is good or bad depending on your point of view but it also means that there’s no EQ and no profiles for games, movies, or music. I’ve never felt the need to EQ a HyperX headset and all sound amazing out of the box. These are stereo only, there is no simulated surround on offer and again that’s completely subjective.

There is no battery life indicator of any sort, I’m assuming that when it gets low it’ll give me a little beep or something but even the manual doesn’t mention anything about this. My favorite close back features sidetone is nowhere to be found here, this means you can’t hear yourself talking in your own mic in your own headset. There is no mix control for chat volume versus game volume.

The analog cable here does not support the microphone if it’s plugged into your phone that means if you plugged into your phone listening to music and a call comes in, you can’t take it hands-free. If you’re charging the unit via mini USB, you also have to have the wireless dongle in place if you want to continue using the headphones while you’re charging. This unit has the worst range of the bunch, HyperX rates this at 20 meters which are approximately 65 feet. I started getting cutouts and interrupts at approximately 35 feet away from the receiver.

MICROPHONE:

Corsair HS70

The mic is on a flexible arm and it’s actually detachable. I don’t always like having the mic on the headset, so detachable or retractable is the best.

It is an average sound in terms of wireless headset mic but it could definitely be improved. The biggest issue I have with this is actually the volume. Like other Corsair headsets, it’s just too low. when it comes to blocking out the background noise, it seems alright. It doesn’t pick up too much.

HyperX Cloud Flight

The mic like all HyperX cloud headsets is detachable and it’s really flexible for positioning. It sounds good for a gaming mic. I don’t think it comes across to nasally, I think it sounds pretty full, got a decent bottom end. It can’t come through a little bit boomy but the noise cancellation is actually better than I found on the cloud alpha. All actuality the Arctis probably has the best noise-canceling of the bunch but my voice on the Arctis sounds really lightweight as opposed to the cloud flight.

SOUND:

Corsair HS70

The sound quality is surprisingly Pleasant using 50-millimeter drivers with 7.1 virtual surround sound and 20 to 20,000 Hertz. The bass sounds pretty big, not to the point of vibrating URIs but the overall sound seems acute to be a warm sound. You can EQ in the software too but even then it’s hard to get the highs to sound tinny which in my opinion is a very good thing. This is where the sound gets really subjective.

I would think the HyperX cloud flight has better accuracy in sound but the corsair HS70 has a nicer softer sound, made more for entertainment, just running around in quake, listened to the health bubble pickups. Sounds great in the HS70, so personally I like this for a casual wireless headset.

HyperX Cloud Flight

The drivers here 50 millimeters beating out both competitors unless you have like the world’s tiniest ears, these are gonna sit actually on your ear not all the way around. They do a great job of isolation but they do leak a little bit.

The sound of the headset is detailed, it’s fun, and it has easily the best bass response of any wireless unit I’ve tested. Out of the box, it sounds great for gaming, music, and movies. For movies for bass testing, I always use the scene in the force awakens where the Starkiller base fires, this thing handles it like a champ and for music, the SteelSeries Arctis 7 might do a little bit better job on the high end and separation but the Cloud Flight absolutely walk all over it in the bass Department. The overall volume output is similar to the Arctis 7 as well which means I use these at near or full volume all the time.

WHICH TO BUY?

When it comes to the sound of the headset and the mic sound, the HyperX Cloud Flight is better than the Corsair HS70 but there is a lack of many features in the Cloud Flight which all given by the other Wireless headsets also at this price range. The HS70 is also good but not better than the Cloud Flight in terms of sound and comfort but it’s also very good. So, here it’s all about both the headsets and you have to decide as per your preference.
