Having clearly watched from the sidelines for years, Huawei latest has exactly the kind of sensibility we’ve wanted from a luxury laptop. The Huawei MateBook 13 does what any flagship laptop can do – and more – for the same price or even less. For that,…

Huawei could have done more with the MateBook 13, say by offering a better port selection and Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, or using a design language that doesn’t scream Apple. But Huawei played it safe instead, creating a laptop that’s the sum of its…

Experts Reviews for Microsoft Surface Laptop 3

By cnet
With some more juice, the Surface Laptop 3 would be hard to beat in this ultracompetitive category. As it is, though, the strong trackpad/keyboard combo, improved performance and snazzy (though little changed) design make the Laptop 3 worth the price tag.

By The Verge
Aside from those pesky bugs and the merely okay battery life, the Laptop 3 13.5 is a very good laptop, and I think most people looking for a premium Windows 10 computer will be very happy with it. It doesn’t have any of the nagware or bloatware so common on machines from HP, Dell, and Lenovo, and it has simply the best keyboard you can get on a laptop. The Surface Laptop isn’t inexpensive, and you’ll pay for those niceties, but for the most part, it’s worth it.

By PCWorld
The Surface Laptop 3 delivers on a familiar pitch for what a good laptop should offer, executed in intense detail and a clean sense of style.

By WindowsCentral
The Surface Laptop 3 13.5 is a worthy follow-up to last year’s model. While there are no massive changes, the new Intel 10th Gen processor, Instant On, faster SSD, Type-C 3.1 port, and huge trackpad make it even better than ever. Battery life is good, and things like Wi-Fi 6 help add some future-proofing. Users can save money and do a DIY upgrade of storage if they are willing.

By ZDNet
Also, can you make this laptop any lighter in weight? Because it is 3:2, it feels heavier and bulkier than some of the 16:9 ratio laptops — even when they weigh roughly the same. And as long as Microsoft continues to use the proprietary Surface Connect connector, how about a way to indicate a device is fully charged? Right now, it’s impossible to tell unless you peek inside, as far as I know. To me, the Intel-based Surface Laptop 3 is the first PC in the Surface line that I feel lives up to the premium reputation. It’s not inexpensive, but it is a device I’m proud to own.

DESIGN

Huawei MateBook 13:

For the webcam has been moved back up top which is great but it’s not an infrared camera so you’re not getting that Windows hello facial recognition but Huawei has included a fingerprint scanner that’s built into the power button that works really well so you can quickly get into Windows 10.

Microsoft Surface Laptop 3:

The Microsoft Surface laptop 3 15-inch is a beautiful well-designed laptop, but the performance suffers because of the AMD CPU. let’s go to the display specifically here so this is a 13 and a half inch aspect ratio of three by two that’s a signature surface design there the resolution is 20 56 by 1504 which is a little bit strange but all that means is it gives you a 201 pixels per inch you know aspect ratio resolution so it’s a pretty good spite.

WEIGHT & DIMENSIONS

Huawei MateBook 13:

I think is really nice it doesn’t weigh very much about 1.3 kilograms which means that it’s like to carry around it also means that it’s great if you want to put it in a bag a backpack a laptop bag whatever it doesn’t have that bulk to it the other thing is that you have this tapered design it’s about 0.5 9 inches at the thinnest.

Microsoft Surface Laptop 3:

Weighing in at 3.4 pounds, the Surface Laptop 3 is a half a pound lighter than its predecessor.

KEYBOARD AND TOUCHPAD

Huawei MateBook 13:

For the keyboard this is a really solid keyboard I really enjoyed the typing experience here more travel than, I thought would be on this than in light laptop and I believe this is the same keyboard that’s been brought over from the mate book X Pro with one exception. the webcam is no longer hidden underneath one of the keys like it was on that laptop and instead it’s been moved back up top to above the display which is really where we all want our webcams to be as for the touchpad this for me is one of the downs the cons of this laptop I know not everybody cares as much about these as I do but I found this experience to be not the greatest I found that when I was doing detailed precise work like dragging windows or selecting text my finger would skip a lot and it just doesn’t have that fluid smooth tracking experience that you really expect to see on a high-end machine this has really felt more like a Chromebook or a cheaper Windows 10 laptop that’s the kind of thing you’d see in those and I really wish while we hadn’t cut the corner on that in that.

Microsoft Surface Laptop 3:

Keyboard is another area that they improved. It feels super comfortable to type on not as soft as the previous generation, there’s a lot more force to the click. It’s just a really enjoyable typing experience. The improvements they made are exceptional and I wish like companies like Apple would take some notes. There’s Backlighting so you can work in the dark. Unfortunately, there’s no numpad so that might be a deal breaker for number crunchers. Touchpad! So good, like I’m talking about on par, almost on par with a MacBook Pro touchpad. Like they did a really good job optimizing the windows precision drivers.

PORT SELECTION

Huawei MateBook 13:

For the selection of ports here is kind of interesting like a lot of laptops that are in this thin and like category you’re just getting USB see one on each side you’re not getting Thunderbolt 3 though unfortunately we would have liked to see that especially when you get into those higher priced configurations to see a Thunderbolt 3/4 like you do on other laptops but here it’s just 2 USB C ports and one for video output and one for charging and of course a headphone jack

Microsoft Surface Laptop 3:

Let’s get two ports and design so on the left-hand side you get a full USB type a and new this year USB type-c 3.1 gen2 DP 1.4 that’s DisplayPort 1.4 if that makes sense to you congratulations you’re kind of a nerd what you need to know though about this type C it is not Thunderbolt 3 so that’s a big complaint here, I would have preferred Thunderbolt 3 that said this is a very powerful type C port it can handle data it can handle charging it as well you can throw a 65 watt or a 90 watt charger on this and this device will make use of it so that’s pretty awesome and for display how did you can actually do dual 4k displays at 60 Hertz that’s because the display point 1.4 you will need an adapter in or compatible displays out to make that happen so just keep that mine you also get a headphone jack.

DISPLAY

Huawei MateBook 13:

The display it’s a three by two 1440p touchscreen display and we really like to see all that stuff comes standard in the base model typically you get a 1080p version non-touch not with the mate book 13 all that comes standard and just in general that 3 by 2 aspect ratio it’s really nice if you’re used to a, 16 by 9 or 16 by 10 coming to this you just feel like you have a ton of screen real estate it’s perfect for multitasking and just getting work done you can just see way more of the work that you’re actually trying to do so we like to see that on this device and I think you’re going to see a lot more laptops.

Microsoft Surface Laptop 3:

I want to talk about this display because it is absolutely stunning not only do you have good color accuracy, it’s bright, it’s big and because it’s using a 3:2 aspect ratio it’s perfect for productivity. If you’ve only been using 16:9 monitors for your entire life and you mostly work on them trust me try a monitor with 3:2, it will completely change your life. You have more vertical space to work with which feels a lot more natural when you’re browsing a web page and working inside of a document.

BATTERY

Huawei MateBook 13:

The battery life like the razor blade self the 25 watt MX 150 just it does something to this machine and it pulls a lot of juice out of it and so I found that for this this thing it gets around five maybe six hours of light usage if you’re gonna be using it for more intense programs or a lot of multitasking you’re gonna see that dip even more.

Microsoft Surface Laptop 3:

Battery life could be better, only six hours and 30 minutes before needing to charge. Now, it does have fast charging you can top this up fairly quickly but for 2019 standards a lot of ultrabooks are lasting anywhere from 8 to 12 hours. And I think one of the reasons is because of the battery size, it’s only a 45 watt hour battery inside of here. I know they’re using 15-watt processor, but still 45 is a little bit too small.

PERFORMANCE

Huawei MateBook 13:

In terms of performance there’s really nothing to complain about on the macbook 13, it comes with totally updated specs and components you’re getting in 8th gen whiskey like Core i5 or Core i7, quad core processor which should give you plenty of power for productivity multitasking everything you need it comes also with 8 gigabytes of RAM both versions and you get options of either the 256 gigabytes or the 512 gigabyte storage.

Microsoft Surface Laptop 3:

I think if you’re looking for the most performance out of a surface laptop, you’re better off buying the 13-inch version. However, if you just want a surface laptop for general productivity, this is more than capable if you don’t mind the mediocre battery life.

CONCLUSION

Huawei MateBook 13:

I think some people will see that and think the game performance is worth it they want to have a laptop that’s thin and light that looks sleek like this but can also play for at night and for those people you know this is gonna be like a pretty good option, for them but I think for the average person that battery life is just too big of a compromise to make when you’re choosing a laptop that’s supposed to do everything for you especially when you’re paying you know twelve thirteen hundred dollars for that core i7 mm x 150 version so you know. I think for those particular people out there this could be a good option and for everyone else I think you’re probably gonna want to go with something else that has a little bit more battery life so that’s the huawei mate book 13 if you’re interested in this laptop.

Microsoft Surface Laptop 3:

I would actually prefer if I had LTE as well or they’re not things like 4k OLED or wide color gamut display those are things I would like to see but it comes to this laptop I just really like the way it feels it’s just something about the opening it one handed that keyboard that trackpad the display is actually a very good display just not the best the audio is really good battery life was good performance is good it’s just my favorite laptop to use that’s the only way I can explain it and there’s a reason why this laptop has such a high satisfaction amongst users who get it but that said there are better choices out there.
