Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

JBL Clip 2

The JBL Clip was released in the year 2015 which is the updated version of the JBL Clip original version. This one is an upgrade on the original and currently, there are two more updated versions the Clip 3 and Clip 4. This one is retailing for around fifty dollars currently on Amazon.

JBL Go 2

The JBL Go 2 is also an updated version speaker from JBL. The JBL Go 2 is the updated version of the original JBL Go speakers. This speaker is retailing for around forty dollars currently on Amazon.

JBL Clip 2

DESIGN:

JBL Clip 2

The JBL Clip 2 resembles the same hockey puck design just like its predecessors. The stylish and sturdy fabric up top, it’s the same as that of JBL Charge 3. The rubber is plastic makes the rest of the housing rugged and feels nice while holding. The real carabiner is as strong as it looks and it comes really handy to hook the device in belt loops or bags or anywhere you think it fits. The permanently attached aux cable can be found resting along the edge of the speaker.

There are 5 different control buttons along the edge of the speaker. On the right, there is a micro USB port for charging hidden under the gasket, and it’s placed in the middle of the power button and Bluetooth button. On the left, there is a call button and volume toggles. This call button is a multi-purpose one as it can be used for entering or ending the calls or to play or pause the music. It can also be used to trigger Google Now or Siri by long-pressing it and while playing music you can play the next song by double-clicking it.

JBL Go 2

The difference between the JBL Go and the JBL Go 2 in terms of design is that the original one has sharp corners to it and the 2nd gen has curved corners. As far as the build quality, this one feels a lot better than the original JBL Go. This Go 2 has more of a metal feel to it while the original one feels like 100% plastic and the JBL Brandon is embedded in the same color as opposed to white. This speaker looks a lot nicer than the original. On the top, there’s your power button, you get your Bluetooth pairing button, volume up and down buttons, play and pause button. On the bottom, you got the four dots that are going to keep it in place on your table. On one of the sides of the speaker, there’s your flap and when you open this up, inside there will be your 3.5-millimeter jack for non-Bluetooth devices, and your micro USB charging slot, that’s about it.

JBL Go 2

FEATURES:

JBL Clip 2

The device is easy to use, after you pair it with your mobile for the first time it gets automatically connected every time you turn it on. The connection is strong and it didn’t skip while in the same room but it is skipped a few times when I left the phone in one room and keep drumming with the speaker in another. It works the best as a Bluetooth speakerphone with an echo and noise cancellation mic inside. With a 730 mAh battery, the power is up to the mark giving around 5 hours of playback when a max volume. For any portable speakers, the louder the volume the faster the battery dies. So you can even extend the already good battery life by playing the speaker at some levels below the maximum. The speaker’s performances just good considering its size and price.

Charging the device takes around two and a half hours, it can be charged by a micro USB cable through any phone’s five-volt charging adapter. While charging the LED light it’s red and turns off when fully charged. With an IPX7 rating of water resistance, occasional water splashes and rains are something you shouldn’t ever worry about. The only downside is there is no battery level indicator, so when the LED light starts blinking red that is when you realize it’s running low on power. So if you are after a quality Bluetooth speaker with a beautiful and durable design awesome battery backup and that it’s super easy to carry around then JBL Clip 2 is hands-down the best option to get.

JBL Go 2

The JBL Go 2 is available in 12 different colors, so you got red, blue, green, black, yellow, orange, basically any color you could think of. The JBL Go 2 is a waterproof Bluetooth speaker. As far as the features you get five hours’ worth of playtime, it is IPX7 dust and water-resistant, and you got a built-in speakerphone for hands-free calling. Inside the box, you get the speaker itself, your usual books like warranty information and quick start-up guide, and then you get your micro USB charging cable. Overall, they pretty much sound identical and for the speakers these small you’re gonna be blown away. The JBL Go is for 25 dollars, if you want to spend a little bit more get the JBL Go 2 for 40 dollars because it’s way better build quality and a little bit more bass.

Instead of one single 40 mm driver like the previous model, it also has a bass radiator in this one. It doesn’t make much difference in the sound quality but still, it creates a good sound if you keep it stand straight instead of letting it lay on the floor. Also, this speaker is quite pocketable as it is small in size, so you can easily carry around this with you. This speaker has good functional buttons like the play-pause button will skip a track if you double press it and if you hold it down for few minutes, it will activate your Google Assitant in your mobile and the built-in speakerphone will help you interact with your voice assistant.

JBL Clip 2

SOUND QUALITY:

JBL Clip 2

The vocal sounds too immersive and any acoustic music will sound the best. It does well while producing meats and lows but distorts a bit in the highs. There’s enough bass to it but this tiny little thing struggles a bit while playing some bass epic tracks. We did notice some audio quality and resolution fade in the higher frequencies. The bass is really good without too much distortion or breaking up.

JBL Go 2

As far as the sound quality of this speaker, it definitely sounds crystal clear, I actually like it better laying flat. This speaker sounds crystal clear and sounds amazing even at louder volumes. If you like the original JBL Go then you’re gonna love the JBL Go 2, the sound is about the same but the build quality is twice as good but the JBL Go 2 has a little bit more bass. When you’re holding them in your hands, you can definitely feel the bass pumping a little bit more out of the JBL Go 2.

JBL Go 2

WHICH TO BUY?

In my opinion, you should buy the JBL Clip 2 because it is better than the JBL Go 2 as the Clip 2 has better battery life, better sound quality, and also, the Bluetooth performance is better on the Clip 2 than the Go 2.
