So, as it stands, I have yet to come across a headset that performs as well as the HS70s, with the lovely lows and the crisp highs. The design of them oozes quality and the attention to detail is second to none. With them being wireless, you’re not confined to the reach of the cable you often get of wired headsets, instead, you can roam the house with little interference (I was listening to music 2 storeys below my PC). Sure they cost a pretty penny, but I honestly think they are worth it.

All in all, we were highly pleased by the performance of the HS70. It produced really great sounds for a wireless unit. The bass was enhanced but it isn’t much that it completely overpowers the sounds; instead, it delivers an excellently light boost for that added rumble. INTRODUCTION:

Logitech G533

The G533 keeps all those awesome features of the higher-end models but this is the non-vital stuff. This is almost same as like the Logitech G933 but without some premium features and some additions. The comfort and sound is also good enough for the price.

Corsair HS70

The design is simple and same like all the HS model series. The comfort is also good enough and you can use this one for any long hours. The sound of the mic and the headset is pretty good. You can enjoy the wireless connectivity a lot more.

DESIGN:

Logitech G533

The G533 looks very good to me. It’s rather large and heavy at 350 grams but the over 15 hour battery life easily makes up for that. The build is very strong and sturdy. These are also being flexible enough to fit good. The outsides are all plastic with some glossy plastic around and on the sides of the cups. This looks fine on product pictures and before anyone touches it but sadly, it’s a fingerprint magnet and glossy plastic scratches easily.

Corsair HS70

They are very simple, they do look identical to the HS50 and HS70 headset. I do whoever like the subtleness to them, there’s nothing obnoxious, no RGB, keeping it simple with a stealth black look here with some white stitching in the headband. These are also sold in a white variant as well, in case you want to pick these up and white to add your gaming setup but honestly the construction here is identical to the HS50.

COMFORT:

They’re very well cushioned, the over ear cups are rectangular and covered in this large mesh. It may look a bit coarse but actually it’s very soft and pliable. This mesh also makes for an interesting seal, the cups themselves are close but the mesh is very breathable resulting in semi open sound leak. The weight is very evenly distributed which makes the G533 very comfy. I wore them for 11 hours straight and didn’t notice any holes or painful areas, I can imagine it only gets more comfortable with time.

The headband has the usual clicky extension mechanism to change the size. The fit is really nice, it’s not too tight not too loose. It stays in place while walking around. Comfort is a massive flux for the G533.

Corsair HS70

Now in terms of comfort, they are definitely comfortable. They’re not the lightest but once they’re on your head you barely feel any pressure or anything like that at all that will due to the padding on the top of the headband. We have plush memory foam ear pads for the ear cups and since I do wear glasses pretty much full-time, there is absolutely zero discomfort with the glasses on, there’s no pressure on the sides or anything. So that’s always good and to help it fit better. You do get a pretty wide range of adjustment for the headband to fit larger heads. You get around 15 degrees of adjustment with the ear cups, it can just help to fit you better. So, definitely no complaints from me.

FEATURES:

On the left ear-cup is the power-on slider, a textured volume wheel, and a G button. At bottom there is a USB port for charging. This headset can’t play music over USB, you need to use the wireless dongle for listening. Logitech did removed the 3.5 millimeter jack to further simplify the internals. Well, this helps lower the cost. I think, it’s a weird move as now you can’t use your headset with a phone, console, TV or anything.

As soon as you plug in the USB 2.0 dongle, you got wireless audio with the G533, no additional drivers or software needed which is good to see. If you want to fiddle about more you can do that in the Logitech software. You can program the G button to do whatever you want it to do, you can check battery levels and play around with EQ settings. It’s great to see the equalizer safe to the headset itself. So, it doesn’t change as you switch between computers. The auto off feature is also very nice. The headset turns back all the second you touch the volume wheel, so this is a great way to save battery life. In this software you can set up the surround audio as well. DTS X 7.1 sounds the best so just click that if you want to use Virtual Surround.

Inside the headset they feature 50 millimeter neodymium drivers with a 20 Hertz to 20 kilohertz frequency response with 32 ohms at one kilohertz and despite the grill here on the side, these are close back. The mesh here is purely aesthetic and has the Corsair logo there right in the middle.

For the buttons, on the left ear cup is your volume wheel and your mic mute button, a blinking LED light that alerts you of the battery status with a green, orange, and red blink to give you a little indication. Then, you have a micro USB port here for charging. Then on the bottom on the right ear cup is your power button.

The battery life is rated at 16 hours which I found to be spot-on which isn’t bad at all. The one thing that is still kind of annoying here is just to see the remaining battery, you have to go into these software settings for it to show you. I wish they would just have it there inside the HS70 dashboard instead. They do say the wireless connectivity is rated at 40 feet. So for me, I could leave my studio and go into the kitchen and it would still reach out just fine but then any further it would cut out.

MICROPHONE:

The mic boom down and automatically mutes itself when you raise it again, you can also extend it a little bit. this is what the Logitech G533. The integrated pop filter does a good job and background noise is kept to a minimum, mechanical keyboards can still overpower it a little bit though. The G533 plays little tone when you mute or unmute the mic or when you change the audio level.

I think it sounds decent, definitely doable. It is slightly tinny or kind of sounds like I have a stuffy nose even though I don’t but that’s gonna be how most headsets are sounds. Since this is wireless, no real distortion which is good but it’ll be fine when you’re playing with your friends or talking them on this chord, they shouldn’t really bring up any issues with you and your voice.

One thing though I wish they included a little a windscreen to put on the mic. The mic is quickly removable, so if you don’t want to have a mic in front you at all times, you can have a look like you’re wearing a pair of headphones.

SOUND:

I could have tried to sound smart by looking at audiophile terminology but I kept it simple when it comes to audio quality. The G533 sounds really good for a gaming headset, actually enjoyed watching movies, listening to music just as much as I like playing battlefields. The bass and mids are very solid and well-defined but I didn’t notice some distortion in highs.

This headphone has a virtual DTS 7.1 surround modes to help, position your enemies better in games. You can choose between three different virtual surround technologies but DTS sounds by far the best. While, this definitely helps you find bad guides, it makes sound seem more distant and hollow. So, I mostly used it in stereo mode using the flat profile to gain and enjoying my music.

The wireless the range is good enough to walk around the house while listening and audio quality doesn’t change depending on distance. Instead the connection just drops when you’re out of range.

Corsair HS70

The audio is a pretty important aspect when you’re judging a wireless headset. For me, I played a few games while testing these, I started out with something like GTA 5 or you have this very open expansive world like the city life then I played a lot of Far Cry 5 where you’re in the forest and you can hunt, fishing, you’re taking the all the outdoors in then to the game like PUBG where audio is really key, you need to be aware of your surroundings. So, positional audio is definitely important and everything was spot-on. The actual directional audio was completely revamped and it was definitely noticeable with these now. I’m gonna assume these are the same drivers that are inside the HS60 and the HS50 headset. So, there’s no real major difference that I could tell from my testing.

This headset also sounds amazing for music. So, gaming, music, it all sounds really clean with this headset. I do want to point out that there is some hissing at a hundred percent volume. For example, there was a lot of hissing and a hundred percent volume in PUBG but it was pretty minimal in Over-watch and Far Cry but it is there, so keep these at around 85% volume or below to eliminate that audible hiss but then at the same time, when you’re at your desktop and there is no audio playing that hiss is gone. On another note, when these are at 100% there was no distortion in the audio or it wasn’t peaking to say which is good because sometimes when you do have your headset or headphones add a hundred percent volume, they can tend to sound horrible.

To me, this sound like just had a some exaggerated lows and highs with the stock preset. Now, inside their software, you can go in and make your own EQ settings or switch between ones that they have already pre-made for you, usually I always say stick to the stock audio experience but I would recommend slightly to turning the highs and lows down just a bit or boost the mids equal it all out. I felt like there was just too much bass and too much treble at times but again, audio is subjective and this may sound fine to most people.

For music, it sound great. Directional audio and games with spot-on, so that’s always a plus and one thing is obviously also inside the software you can go in and enable their 7.1 surround sound but for me I always tend to avoid that just because it subtly distorts it and it gives it more of like a hollow sound. You are gonna get a bit of a bump with some of the higher frequencies, you can hear footsteps a little bit better but everything else kind of just sounds like it’s farther away. So, I tend to keep it off.

CONCLUSION:

The Logitech G533 is really comfortable to wear and the battery seems to last forever. The microphone is very good and Virtual Surround is a great feature to have if you play a lot of first person and shooters. The wireless works very well and this is easy as plugging in a dongle and the audio quality is really good but the highs are a little bit all over the place. So for these all I think it worth for the price.

Corsair HS70

This is a great price for a wireless gaming headset. The audio is impressive, I love the simplicity in the look of the headset that’s definitely a plus. There are some of the negative points also, there is that audible hiss when you’re at a hundred percent. The other one is the windscreen for mic but other than that it is a great headset for the price. You cannot complain really if you do need a wireless headset. For the competition of this which have almost all the features this have is the Corsair HS50.

If you really value wireless connectivity, you don’t need a cable then you can kind of decide between which one you want which one you value more. So, if you need a wireless headset HS70 is gonna be a great value for under $100.
