Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Logitech G560

The Logitech G560 is the 2.1 speaker system which comes with two satellite speakers and one subwoofer. These speakers are also one of the speakers that come with RGB lighting in the market. These speaker sets are currently retailing for around a hundred and eighty dollars.

Klipsch ProMedia 2.1

The Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX premium desktop speaker system has been around since the early 2000s. It’s nothing new, it’s a pretty old system but Klipsch has been selling these things for years. These speakers are currently retailing for around a hundred and fifty dollars.

Klipsch ProMedia 2.1

DESIGN:

Logitech G560

The satellite speakers have nicely designed to it, a matte finish on there, you’ve got rubber feet on there to avoid it slipping on your desk, and you can’t actually pull the speaker grille off to reveal the actual speaker. Around the back of the left speaker, you can see L which means left as well that is one location for the light sink and there’s a strip in there to do light sink as well. Cable quality is really good, nice, and chunky but strange connectors actually look like a VGA cable connector or comm port connector. The actual length for the cable is around 2.3 meters in length so ample cable there.

On the right speaker, you’ve got the right symbol on there, the cable length is the same as the other, you’ve got the model there G560, you’ve got Bluetooth button there, power button and a headphone jack on there. At the top, you’ve got three buttons looks like volume control, and a button with G on there, and you’ve got branding there. Again you’ve got the strip in there for the light sink as well as on the back. Same as the other one, you’ve got rubber pads underneath and again a chunky connector on there. Build quality of the cable on both of these is really good.

The actual subwoofer has a nice build quality to it, branding on the top, a matte finish all the way around, glossy finish on the actual port there, coming around the back cable length on this is approximately 2.2 meters in length. At the back, an auxiliary point there could be some sort of reset button there, micro USB connection point there, and then to speak connection points there, and that’s it. Height wise quite large, so it’s about 40 centimeters and if I flip it over just so you can see the underneath of it you can actually see the subwoofer there.

Klipsch ProMedia 2.1

The build quality, it feels good it feels nice, there’s a speaker wire itself, the wire is connected to the speaker it’s not detachable. When you pick up the grille, there’s your three-inch driver it’s kind of nice, and your horn tweeter. On the other speaker, you have the same thing the speaker wire is connected to the speaker itself, you have the little control panel with the subwoofer and there’s a little mark there that means they recommend keeping the subwoofer volume there and then you have your main volume knob, you have a headphone jack, and you have another that’s the audio output. The rest of the wires are connected and one of these wires goes to the subwoofer and the wire in the satellite speaker goes to your computer. The stand with the controls in the satellite speaker is detachable, you can have it detached. It’s kind of flexible, it gives you the flexibility to mount it wherever you want.

The subwoofer is not that big, and it’s got a nice small footprint to it. On the back of the subwoofer, you have your speaker connection left and right, the speakers themselves are not labeled as left and right so you can decide what you want to put where, and you can also hook up the control arm or the whole control unit to wherever you want, then you have the preamp input, then you have a little connection for the little control module, and that’s all it is. It doesn’t have a power button, nothing it’s just as is.

FEATURES:

Logitech G560

Packaging comes nicely, packaged in quite a large box. Some details there on the side, so light sink PC gaming speakers so these link in with other light sync devices from Logitech and you can get a consistent flow of colors coming through all the devices in sync. Some additional details there DTS X ultra, got USB connectivity, Auxilary connectivity, and Bluetooth connectivity on there three components to this so two satellite speakers and a subwoofer. There are also technical specification details, so total watts 240 watts and going down the to satellite speakers are 30 watts, the subwoofer is 60 watts, so they’re saying peak is 240 watts and RMS is 120 watts.

Bluetooth version is 4.1, Bluetooth connections are a reliable 25-meter line of sight range, USB 1 and 1 auxiliary jack, and there’s a headphone jack as well. On the other side of the box it again claims some details so again indicating the actual power of the system, DTS X so positional audiotape DTS X Ultra engine renders 3D surround sound for PC games and music delivering positional audio for heightened realism accuracy and a competitive edge. Also, detailing all the connections on there and obviously light sync. In the box, you get a large piece of paper folded up and this is important safety compliance and warranty information and this is multi-language. Next, you’ve got the cable that connects the subwoofer to your PC so one end is a micro USB connector on there and the other end is USB, cable length on this is approximately 2.4 meters, and build quality is really good.

In the G hub software, you’ve got front and back on there so in terms of the front they’re the ones in the curve so just that area there and obviously the back is a round circle there. So, you can change the effects on both of these. If I do fix on one which is the front and on the back I could do fixed or change to something else like a breathing effect for example. Next, if I go to sync lighting options if I go there click the plus it will link in with my keyboard and mouse.

Also, you have the screen sampler so with this you can actually pick areas of your screen and it will try copying the lighting on there. So, if you’re watching a movie and there are different lighting areas, it will sort of sync with the movie so very impressive actually. If we go down to audio visualizer so with this it will try and visualize with the audio that’s going on. If I click on here acoustics volume levels here, you got enable surround sound option as well so you can adjust the different levels going around. You have equalizer settings as well, so there’s default modes on their flat FPS cinematic Communications mobile bass boost and add new equalizer. So you can go to an advanced equalizer setting as well and amend those.

The Bluetooth functionality on this is quite interesting how they’ve done this. So, you don’t need to disconnect anything and the way it works is you can still continue having the sound from your PC coming out of this and also connect it with Bluetooth at the same time. So what you could do with that is you could be gaming and if you wanted to play something off your phone you could play it directly without messing around with changing any settings or anything like that. Just work straight away so I love that bit of functionality and really useful.

Klipsch ProMedia 2.1

Inside the box, you have your owner’s manual, it’s just pretty simple, gives you some pictures of how you hook up the speaker wires and they recommend that you connect this thing straight into the outlet. As soon as you open it, the speakers are right there. The box comes with two sets of speakers, the subwoofer and the amp, the control unit, the feet, and the owner’s manual that’s all in the box. They don’t provide any additional cables, and there’s no power button in this thing. So once you hook it up that’s it, it will be on always. To turn it off, you need to unplug the plug.

I think Klipsch could have done a little better at designing these things just to keep up with because we’re in 2020 we should have optic input on these things by now. You just get your good old-fashioned 3.5-millimeter jack which is fine it’s not a big deal, it’s not a total deal-breaker for 100 dollars. One of the things that resonate with me is how good this subwoofer is, how well it produces sound, and how hard this thing can kick the frequency and immerse you into whatever you’re watching, whatever you’re playing. My problem is those little speakers they only have three-inch drivers with a horn tweeter. The three-inch driver doesn’t work, it’s just not strong enough, not big enough to produce the mid-range.

Especially, when you have the subwoofer underneath your desk it produces sound fine but again you don’t hear the mid-range as well and the little drivers they don’t do a good job of producing that quality sound that you’re looking for. The tweeter makes the sound very crisp, and it makes it very clear. My personal choice I don’t like speakers that are sharp, I like speakers that are a bit warmer to the ear, it’s not a little more pleasant, that you hear all the notes, all the little instruments but in a nice way not like it’s poking you with a stick. The amp is built inside the subwoofer unit and it gets really hot it consumes about 16 watts of power and that’s not good, that’s not energy efficient.

As this thing just stays on all the time there’s no way to turn it off, and it continues to stay that way no matter what. It’s not recommended that you unplug it and you plug it back in or you power it down and you power it back on all the time because as many times as you do that there’s a surge of electricity that’s going inside the amp and that can cause damage over some time. So it’s not recommended, the recommendation is that you plug this thing into your outlet and you leave it as such. It should not have to draw this much power, the amp when you plug it in even if it stays on when it’s not in use when there’s no signal coming in, this thing should go and stand by and it should only consume about let’s say five watts or six watts and it should not be any more than that but again the amp requires it. On the other hand, there’s no power switch, there’s no auto-standby, nothing, you plug it in and it just sits there and it draws 16 watts when it’s not being used at all.

SOUND QUALITY:

Logitech G560

It sounds very good, crystal clear, very impressive, and no distortion at all with this. The sound quality is really good as well at maximum volume, no struggling at all. Overall, the audio is very impressive, since they are those dedicated desktop speakers you’re not gonna have a lot of the lower-end that’s gonna be mainly for the subwoofer but in terms of treble and even like high-ends mid-range frequencies, it is really damn good. It also has a very expansive soundstage which is also gonna be really great for things like open-world games where if you’re running around in PUB-G or something there’s a big immersive world these sound effects all around you sounds so good.

Klipsch ProMedia 2.1

This sounded really good, and impressive even though this thing is suspended from the ground, the fact that this vibrates my desk and my desk vibrates the leg and that vibrates my ground that’s good. My room is around 9 by 10 and the entire room is pretty filled up just by these speakers. So definitely if you have a gaming station and you’re in close proximity of the control unit, or even if you don’t want to be close proximity of the control unit, if you have a gaming station and you want to hook this thing up, definitely this thing will kick some major low frequency away.

Logitech G560

WHICH TO BUY?

If you’re okay with the power consumption on the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1, if you’re okay with very sharp audio coming out of these speakers, then you can go for these speakers. But if you are not ok with that all, then the Logitech G560 is the good choice to buy in my opinion.

If you can live with the design and don’t mind spending past the $100 mark, the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 is a great deal. Gamers will love the surround sound, precision rendering of low-frequency effects, and soothing background score. Audiophiles will harp over its frequency response and powerful satellites. You will never go back to any other brand or model of 2.1 surround speakers after buying this!

Klipsch hit the sweet spot with this 2.1 package and for the money, you could do worse than to pick this up. Decent highs and lows all while being accompanied with a nice looking design, though on the large side if you have a small desk, the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 is perfect as a replacement set or for the gamer/movie-goer looking to add a little more oomph to their PC, Laptop or Tablet setup.

By TomsHardware
ven after 10 years, the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 remains a rock-solid PC speaker system capable of great things, including nice flat frequency response and powerful bass. It certainly seems worthy of the THX certification. The worst thing we can say about this system is that the highest 10 kHz+ ends of the audio spectrum might be a little weak. But it’s not so bad that it’s easy to notice, even when you’re directly comparing it to its contemporaries.
