Gaming headphones aren’t just a gimmick, they really do bring your gaming experience to another level and the Logitech G933 Artemis Spectrum are among the best on the market.

By EFTM
All things considered, the Logitech G933’s are an absolute steal. Everything from the exceptional microphone quality, to the brilliance of the surround sound and the customization of the lighting, this headset is perfect for any gamer in need of an upgrade

By VentureBeat
I don’t know if you can get a better all-around gaming headset. The G933 can handle gaming easily. Its built-in mic is really clear, so you’re going to have no problem communicating. But it can also break away from your computer to work well with consoles or a smartphone. I love rocking out in my car to My Morning Jacket while wearing G933. I can even take a call using the headset. It just easily handles any situation you throw at it, which I think makes it an incredible value for the price.

By PCworld
The Logitech G933 would be a pretty good headset at its list price of $200. At its pretty-much-permanent sale price of $150 to $180, it’s probably the best price-to-performance ratio you can get for a wireless headset right now.

Expert Reviews of HyperX Cloud 2:

For me, it’s between the Kingston HyperX Cloud II and Polk Striker P1 Multiplatform. The HyperX Cloud II looks and feels better in my opinion, but you have to use USB audio instead of your sound card if you want the inline control box. When spending this much on a headset we’d rather not have to choose between having less features or lower quality audio.

By IGN
The HyperX Cloud II is attractive for many reasons, including its modular and comfortable design, premium build quality, great 7.1 surround and stereo sound, and affordable price. It’s also great for laptop gamers since it obviates the need for a dedicated sound card, and overall is one of the best headsets I’ve ever used.

By Enos Tech
When all is said and done, the HyperX Cloud II headset offers the full package. As mentioned, they only thing that tops their quality looks is the quality of the performance which comes at a very fair price when considering other options currently on the market. The Cloud II is a well worthy headset and its versatility only helps to make sure you get the most from them possible.

Then it struck me. That comic book I bought so long ago, it was so cheap and yet I got so much enjoyment out of it. I don’t want to use the word cheap because that has some negative connotations to it, but the value it provided for the price was genuinely amazing. The Cloud II’s are the same and at this moment in time, they are without a doubt my favorite headphones for gaming and general PC usage.

Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Logitech G933

This headset is like a premium gaming headset with a plenty of features for gaming. If you’re only into gaming then this one will be great for you. Also, there are some positive and negative points of this headset and that will decide which type of person can use this headset.

HyperX Cloud 2

This one is a very simple wired headset for gaming but it’s also nice for watching movies and listening to music. There are no special features or special technologies are in this headset but overall who want a decent headset at a decent price, this will be good for them.

DESIGN:

Logitech G933

There is a black version and also a blue and white version and an all-white version of which look pretty cool but those are 200 dollars which are even more than the others. This is really just from a gaming perspective.

The overall construction is a bit flimsy. It doesn’t feel like you’re gonna snap but they just don’t feel all that rock-solid which gives me a little bit of pause. I would have liked to build quality to include a bit more metal. I know they were trying to make these lightweight but I think it would’ve been okay to increase the weight just a tiny bit to make them more robust.

HyperX Cloud 2

Getting into the design of this headset, it actually comes in two parts. You get the headset itself and you also get a USB sound card module. Now, the design of this headset in my opinion looks more or soul like an actual pair of older headphones than an actual gaming headset which I personally do not have a problem with. Having the option of detach the headset from the dongle and also having the option to detach the microphone from the headset is actually genius and there weren’t too many headsets in its price range in that time frame when this headset came out that connection to compete with that versatility.

When it comes to this headset doubling as a travel headset and a gaming headset which you could take with you on your flights or connect to your mobile device when you guys are done gaming with it.

COMFORT:

Logitech G933

One of the biggest features I enjoy about these headsets is the coffin style earmuffs. They’re elongated, they’re almost like a long rectangle with a bit of an angle on it. For me, these make my ears feel better. These feel great, thick, they’re padded.

They’re made of a woven kind of nylon material and they’re breathable, you’re not gonna sweat in these and they don’t squish your head which is another important factor in a pair of headsets especially if you’re gonna wear them for hours. I thought these might be heavy but these are very light which far lighter than I expected.

HyperX Cloud 2

The headband on this headset and the pre-installed ear pads are made from a pleather material and a memory foam that helps this headset sit comfortably on your head without them feeling too heavy or too light. In the case, you also get an extra set of ear cups that are made out of a lighter fabric that I personally don’t like since I found them to feel a little bit itchy in those longer gaming sessions.

FEATURES:

Logitech G933

The great thing is these headsets are multi-platform. You can get them for the Xbox One, ps4, or even for smartphones if you so desire and it does come with most of the stuff you’ll need. There’s a couple of cables and pretty much everything you would expect and even RCA adapter as well if you want to plug it into your home stereo system. It’s the same headset for all these I want to clarify. So, regardless of which platform you want to use, you just buy this and you can more or less get it going.

A really cool feature with these headsets is you can go wireless which is more or less where you’re gonna do but if the batteries are dead or you just prefer to go analog, you can do that too. It does come with that 3.5-millimeter jack as well as the adapter and you have your standard plug with a good bit of length.

The wireless option performs in the 2.4 gigahertz band which is pretty good, it did not interfere with my wireless controller or the other wireless controllers that are nearby or anything of that nature which is awesome. I tested the wireless signal and I walked all the way around the first floor with no issues of cutting out whatsoever, I have enclosed some doors walked around to various and never got signal lost. When I went upstairs, I did fade it out but that’s to be expected.

If you like customizing RGB lights, this one will give you plenty of amounts. There is also the option to turn it off to get more battery life but if you do like tweaking lights and you’re like having a few options, these won’t disappoint. Since it’s the Logitech product, you can even match these up with your Logitech mouse, Logitech keyboard, or any combination of those things.

The volume rocker knob is over here on the sides if you’re wearing them, it’s actually in the back where your thumb would be and for the most part, it works so okay. I would have preferred a larger volume knob but it is thick, it does have detents and you can feel it move. So, it’s not like I just moving freely, it feels like a mouse wheel basically in spot, it’s about the size of the mouse wheel.

On one side of the ear cup has a wireless receiver in it which you pop it off, on the other side you can pop this side off too and then this side, it has the rechargeable battery inside and really these just snap back on with rare earth magnets and a little bit of a clasp.

On the left-hand side of the headsets are three programmable buttons. Now, you can assign pretty much any program you can imagine to these including Mouse presses, keyboard clicks, combinations of both, you can assign pretty much any audio feature you could ever want whether it’s raising a treble, raising the bass, and everything that could go into that. I played around with it, I didn’t really use it that much. However, it was kind of cool to be able to assign like the escape button to the headsets. By default, you have the surround sound button, the equalizer button up top which swaps profiles and then you have the actual mute button the very bottom. The mute button is not programmable that’s separate.

Although these don’t have the expensive noise-canceling software, you’d find with a really high price pair of headsets. These do have noise-dampening but it is helpful if you’re trying to game and you don’t outside distractions, you could still hear people if they say something loudly but it does kind of reduce that background noise and keep you focused which I do appreciate. These also go to sleep after inactivity for a little bit which is also nice.

One of the big negative points is the surround sound will not work on the consoles. You will just get basic stereo which is annoying but at the same time, that’s really a limitation of the consoles, not the headsets so much. For Xbox one users, you can’t go wireless which is a huge bummer especially since you can buy the wired version of these for $30 cheaper. So, there will be no need to buy this one. Also, Xbox users will need the little adapter which comes with them but you also need a different adapter which you have to buy from Microsoft to the Xbox one which is not included.

HyperX Cloud 2

The cable in the headset itself is about three feet long, while the cable and the sound card module doubles that for six feet. Your sound card module ends in a USB plug that goes directly into your computer or your console and your headset ends in a standard 3.5-millimeter audio cable that connects to the module. The cable on this headset is permanently connected whereas the boom mic is detachable, it has a flexible metal arm with a foam windscreen.

On the USB sound card, you get individual volume controls for both the headphones and the microphone. You also get a sliding microphone mute switch and a 7.1 button that activates the headset surround sound. You are able to use this headset with any device out there that has a 3.5-millimeter audio jack, your ps4 controller, your Xbox controller, or mobile phone.

MICROPHONE:

Logitech G933

The microphone by default is kind of hidden. All you do is you pull down the very front and it comes right out and then if you pull out the microphone, there’s a bendable type of little wire. So, you can actually point it to wherever you want to go. When you mute your microphone, there’s a red LED light on the front that goes off, so you can tell pretty easily on your peripheral vision if your mic is on or if it’s not.

This is a unidirectional mic, so you will need to bend that to get the best sound quality possible out of it, as opposed to an omnidirectional mic that would capture sound no matter where it’s pointing.

The mic sound is fine for gaming. It’s good for FPS, it’s good for pretty much any game or any type of communication you’re using but this is not a microphone you want to use if you’re doing something like YouTube video or if you’re doing streaming, you’ll want something like an expensive high-quality microphone. This will get you buying pretty much anything for gaming, it sounds fine again and just don’t rely on this for anything professional outside of the gaming realm.

HyperX Cloud 2

There’s a boom mic and also this mic is detachable. So, you can use the headset without mic like the headphone when you listen to music or anything like that.

I feel like the audio in my personal opinion, it did sound a bit compressed and modulated. For this price range, this microphone quality actually sounds pretty good and is on par with a lot of the other gaming headsets that came out around that time when this one released. Most of the headset sound exactly the same whatever released at that time at the party chat. Only some of the headsets sound different like Astro A40, especially when you’re using it in party chat.

When I use this headset, I also tested this mic with like keyboard clicks, I didn’t hear the keyboard clicks that much. They’re actually pretty faint when you’re using the microphone, so you shouldn’t worry too much about the keyboard clicks.

BATTERY:

Logitech G933

On average in my testing, I got about eight hours of battery life per charge using the RGB lights and that’s what Logitech claims. They also say you get twelve hours if you don’t use the lights that kind of was hit or miss for me. I would say it was around eleven hours on average but it did go to twelve once or twice too.

HyperX Cloud 2

There’s no charging system of this headset because this one is a wired headset. So, you can easily use this headset by just plugging directly on your PC or consoles or mobile devices.

SOUND:

Logitech G933

This has a 7.1 sound which is emulated. You can choose DTS or you can choose Dolby Digital either or they both sound pretty good. I use DTS majority of the time, I did also test using Dolby Digital by games, shows, movies, they all sound terrific on these things. You can also put them in mono mode if you so desire, there’s just a quick button press in the middle of the right ear cup to do that.

One of the main things you’re gonna find as soon as you put these things on is there’s a lot of powerful bass, much more than I anticipated. There’s almost no distortion even at dangerously high volume levels but on high volumes, you shouldn’t listen to for extended periods of time. Even at those high volumes with bass-heavy tracks such as techno or trance or just games in general with heavy gunfire, there’s no distortion which was surprising to me and a good thing.

There are also crisp highs that are also good and I would argue even more important than the deep bass because if you don’t have the crisp highs everything kind of comes across muted and watered-down and weird sounding. So, good side tones, crisp highs, solid bass.

If all you do is listen to podcasts or watch YouTube and you don’t do much gaming and you’re really just on your computer for the audio, these might not be the best. I listen to a lot of audio shows, podcasts, etc and the voice in that sort of department comes off a little echoey at least when it’s on 7.1 sound. If you put them on non-stereo or mono, it sounds fine but if you’re going that route, you could buy a much cheaper pair of headsets to get that duty done. These are meant for gaming and watching multimedia.

HyperX Cloud 2

You get a 7.1 channel surround sound that is activated by the press to the 7.1 channel button on the USB cable. Playing Call Duty: War Zone with this headset, I wasn’t able to get a clear indication of which way the enemy was coming from while I was using the surround sound which is a huge red flag for competitive gamers.

Now, I should mention that unlike the Astro A50 out there, you could take this headset right out of the box and it’s plug-and-play. You don’t have to download any software, and any drivers out there and the audio levels are actually really high with this headset. When I do turn on the surround sound, it just amplifies that volume. It doesn’t really give a clear depiction of where your enemies are, so it just makes the great sound and makes your environment sounds louder which isn’t terrible but for competitive gamers, you want to know where your enemies coming from.

I did also tested this headset by listening to music. Even at max volume, you don’t hear too much distortion and even the bass sounds really good too. So, the mids and lows sound really good as well. I can double use this headset to travel with, listen to music with, and watch movies with.

WHICH TO BUY?

Both these headsets are good for gaming but there are lots of differences in the features and also sound quality. The Hyperx Cloud is basic, simple, and honestly a little bit outdated headset for gaming. But at this price, we can only expect this much and it also flexible for not just gaming but also for music and so on. The G933 has lots of features but also some negatives even if you’re just into gaming. Decide which one you want by know the price and features of these headsets.
