Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Logitech G935

The Logitech G935 is a truly wireless headphone that works with the help of a USB dongle. These headphones are currently retailing for around a hundred and thirty dollars. These are DTS headphones X 2.0 with 7.1 surround sound.

Astro A50

The Astro A50s are a completely wireless headset that you can use on PC, PS4, and I believe Xbox One as well. If you want the Xbox One version, you have to make sure that you buy the one specifically made for Xbox because with the other one you can either use it on PlayStation 4 or you can use it on PC.

Logitech G935

DESIGN:

Logitech G935

In terms of design, it’s got a matte finish on the top with some branding in the middle, and it has a glossy finish going in the ridges, and as you come down obviously glossy and then Matte again. It has adjustable on either side as normal most headsets are. The side of the headset has a matte finish and a slight recess in there where you can just pop your nail and open it up. There comes a slight tag there and that’s indicating you’ve got the actual USB adapter in there. If you pop that off, it has some metal there and some magnets obviously to secure it into position.

And there will be the actual USB adapter to connect to your PC to give it wireless functionality. So that’s quite a nice way of storing this in the side of the headset. You got an on the button there that’s a slider switch if you push it up turns on pushing it back down again turns off. You’ve got three customizable buttons there so you’ve got a g3 g2 g1, mute for the microphone, and volume control with the minus and the plus on there. You’ve got a 3.5 mm jack there to connect the cable for things like the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo switch and then a micro USB point for actual charging it.

On the other side, there’s a point just there with a slight recess, and when you pop that out and the mic comes out so really nice designed to this to hide the microphone. When you’re using it just pop it out and if I pull on that it’s extendable as well and can be adjusted, so really great design to this actually. If we go to the actual other side earcups, there’s no other connectors or buttons on this. But on the side of the cover, there’s a little recess you can pop that off and you can see the battery on this.

Another interesting bit of functionality on there obviously is there’s no stopping point with the volume control here. So if you keep going down you can’t tell obviously that’s a bottom but obviously, if you’re listening to something you can tell then but it’s quite good even though it doesn’t stop. When you go to the max, you do hear an indicator beep telling us at the max. So, it’s a nice bit of functionality on there to give you the indication that it’s muted or the volumes on maximum.

Astro A50

On the right ear cup is where you’re gonna have all of your headset controls. Basically, you have your on and off switch at the top, underneath that you have your Dolby digital surround sound, you also have an equalizer you have three different equalizers presets that you can cycle through, and then at the bottom, you have a volume scroll wheel for your master volume. The faceplate of the right side ear cup, you have a game and voice audio balancer so it allows you to adjust your game and voice chat accordingly if you won’t want to be higher than the other or vice versa.

The mic in these is not detachable like on the Astro A40 instead it just has a swivel mic. Whenever you push it up to the top, it does automatically mute the mic. So you don’t have to worry about it accidentally selecting this microphone as your microphone device. As long as it’s pushed up, it’s gonna be disabled as a device. But I do still wish they made it like you could detach the mic to the headset and you could remove it, if you didn’t want the microphone or if you don’t want to use it.

When it comes to charging these things, it’s pretty easy. You just need to set it on there, it doesn’t have to be perfectly placed, it’ll just start charging right away. But when you do want to update the firmware, you gotta kind of play with it for an extra few seconds to make sure you have the pins directly connected.

COMFORT:

Logitech G935

These headphones have ample cushioning on each side which is really nice and chunky. It’s a nice premium leatherette feel on there so not real leather just a leather sort of look to that. We’ve actually got some material over the driver just to protect that. Really nice soft feel to that and the same obviously on both sides. If we look at the actual top, you’ve got ample cushioning on there as well and again quite nice and chunky on that too. These are quite flexible too and when I push them back in I realized that the build quality seemed quite good on there. The clamping force is not too heavy so not too bad when you’re actually playing for longer periods. These headphones actually weigh a little heavy because of the steel portion on the headband.

In terms of looks when you have them on your head is actually it sticks out quite a lot at the back. Obviously, you’ve got to balance it in a way that it’s not gonna easily pop off. So if you’ve not got it secured on and you move your head back, it does have a tendency just to roll back a little bit. So obviously, do be careful when you put it on. If you turn on the light sync, it will be lighting at the back it’s pretty good and obviously reaching out at the back is a bit strange. You can twist the headphones when you’ve taken them off and rest them down, so it’s quite nice to be able to actually do that and it’s a bit more comfortable if you’ve taken them off.

Astro A50

The headset is fully adjustable so those people who have small heads or if you have a big head no matter the size of your head, it should be able to fit and it has some very nice cushy soft padding. This headset has a soft and nice cloth and it really feels good. It definitely feels nice having a much more high-quality authentic fabric going over your ears whenever you’re wearing these.

My biggest gripes with the SteelSeries is that it just was not comfortable at all at least for me. Whenever I put the headset on all I felt was the back of the speaker driver the cup there was no padding on the speaker driver at all. So all I felt was just that plastic speaker driver just crushing up against my ear and it was awful. But these have plenty of cushions and these really do feel comfortable.

Astro A50

FEATURES:

Logitech G935

The headphones come in a really nice packaging with a picture of the actual headset itself. There are some details down there it’s a wireless 7.1 surround sound headset, we’ve light sync on there, it’s compatible with a PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo switch. The box claims that the headphone driver is 50mm, frequency responses 20 Hertz to 20 kilohertz, impedance is 39 Ohm, and sensitivity is 93 decibels. The wireless range indoor is 15 meters outdoor is 20 meters, connection type USB and there’s no LCD on there. For battery life with no lighting you’re getting about 12 hours and with default light sync on you get approximately 8 hours.

Inside the box, you get different things, so initially you’ve got an important safety guide here just some details, multi-language in there, then you’ve got a set-up guide details of what you get in the packaging and how you’d connect it up. It briefly shows you get 2 cables and obviously the headset to connect the headset up to a PC, you can use the wireless connector and there’s a single cable for connecting up to a PS4, Xbox One, or Nintendo switch, and to charge it you’ve got micro USB cable to USB on there. Initially, you’ve got the non-braided cable and a rubbery finish on there and the length on this is about 1.5 meters. Build quality seems good, rubbery finish on there. The connectors it’s not gold-plated, nice, and flexible as well. The actual charging cable quality is really good, good connectors on there, solid construction, and braided cable as well and the length on this is 1.8 meters.

The lighting on these can be controlled by the software that you install on your PC. So you can get it syncing with your keyboard and if you had a light sink compatible mouse as well together with a light sync keyboard, it can all be working in conjunction. It looks pretty good and the building quality is really nice on this. when you pull out the mic, you see the colors on the side and at the back change indicating it’s muted and it’s unmuted. You’ve also got a little LED indicator there as well so it lights red when muted and turns off the light when unmuted and you can hear an audible noise as well as a beep indicating its muted and unmuted.

The actual light sync functionality on here is quite interesting how it works. Easy to turn on, just push the slider up and you’ll see it come on and in terms of lighting obviously you’ve got it there on the backline and on the Logo as well. On the actual customizable buttons, you’ve got equalizers on there so you can change the actual music if you’re listening to any. If we come down, there’s a light bulb button, so if you click the light bulb button, you can see you can alternate between the different colors on there and it’s pretty nice having that on there.

Astro A50

Another thing I really like about these Astros is the battery life. It’s said to have over 15 hours of battery on one single charge. A feature that’s really cool to help extend the battery life is there are actually sensors on this headset that can tell if it’s on your head or if it’s resting down on the table. So if this headset is off of your head for about 10 to 15 seconds it’ll actually go into a sleep mode, where it turns the headset off and it’s not using any battery power at all. Then as soon as you pick it back up before you can even get it back on your head, it’ll automatically go ahead and turn back on and it’s instant connection right away. So that’s a super cool feature that helps with battery life. I will say it does charge rather slowly because they decided to go with the micro USB for the base station. I feel they should have gone with the USB-C to make it more future-proof but well they went with a micro USB.

The little base station that actually makes for a very neat little headset stand. So if you guys don’t have your own headset stand this little base station right here makes for an absolute outstanding headset stand. The one gripe I do have about this headset stand is that the connectors on it. The connectors connect fine when you’re trying to charge it, it doesn’t seem like it has to be like dead on the connectors to charge it. But whenever I tried to update the firmware on the headset which again you’ll only have to do once it’s not like they update these things every week. But whenever I was trying to update the firmware it kept saying that it kept failing the update, even though the headset was on there and the lights were going like it was updated on the base station. Then I came to know that the connectors are not perfectly set on there. So I wiggled the headset around, adjusted it a little bit and I restarted the update and it went right through.

Logitech G935

SOFTWARE:

Logitech G935

To install Logitech G hub software, search for Logitech G hub download in Google. This software actually allows us to customize their products ranging from the gaming keyboard, mice, and even the gaming headset. After downloading the software, when you open it up there on your desktop, it will pick up the actual gaming keyboard, mouse, or headset you are using at the moment. You need to click on the G935, so once we’ve clicked on the headphones you have different options there. You can actually control the actual light sync and you can go for the primary or the logo. Primary is the area around there on the back of the earcup and the logo obviously is the G.

You can customize the lighting on the primary and logo individually. You have options like cycle means the lighting colors will be alternatively changing automatically and in the fixed option, you fix only one color lighting there as wish to be. You can also have the cycling effect for primary and fixed effects for the logo individually and also vise versa. You can also turn off the lighting on either one or on both. You can also change the cycle speed, and also you can have cycled through breathing effect, etc. one next thing

Then you have the assignments, so this is where you can actually assign the configurable buttons at the side to do different things. For example, previous track play, next track things like that as well. Then you have acoustics, there you have a volume control, microphone sidetone as well, noise removal, and enable surround sounds. If you click there, you can actually see the different levels around for surround sounds, you can turn them up and down as per your requirements or just obviously leave it in the configuration as default. Even the place is changeable so if you found anything too high, you can actually turn it down which is very impressive. You do have an equalizer as well with different settings and you can configure your own as well if you wanted to. So very comprehensive in terms of functionality on this and very impressive what you can do and change with it.

Astro A50

The software for the Astro A50 is the Astro command center program. You need to download this software from Google. You just need to search the Astro command center program in google and you need to download the one which comes at first on the first page. You can also update the software or the firmware at times when it asks for the update. But the headset should be properly placed at the base station when you go for a firmware update.

In the software, you have many options to do for the actual headset. The most important thing among them is to adjust the sound quality with the help of the equalizer there in the software. With the help of the equalizer, you can adjust the highs, mids, lows, treble, and bass as you want it to be and as you want to listen to your music to be. You do have different presets there in the software that you can use and also, you can create your own. Also, in the software, you can customize your button functionality too.

SOUND:

Logitech G935

I have tested out the sound quality on these by using the 3.5 mm, I’ve connected one end to my mobile phone and the other end to the actual gaming headset. These are pretty loud I have to admit but there is noise leakage on this if you’ve got it on a maximum volume. People can quite easily hear the noise coming out around you.

For testing the sound quality from the headphones when they’re plugged into my mobile, I have a little fiddle around with the equalizer settings as well. I have to mention, really impressed, high levels don’t distort even the slightest. I’ve tried playing around with the actual frequency by adjusting the equalizer on my phone, and even then bass levels are great and treble is great as well. So sound quality was a big plus on this.

When I’ve got the headset plugged into a PS4, the sound quality is really good on that. General sound quality wise from the actual headset, it’s absolutely amazing while gaming I have to admit. I’ve had a test of playing a movie in virtual surround sound and the sound quality is absolutely amazing. So multifunctional music is great on this, gaming is great, and watching a movie is great as well.

Astro A50

These things have a really good sound, there’s a lot of different presets you guys can go through. You have the Astro Command Center program, they have that as the software for this headset. You have a bunch of different equalizers presets you can go through. I think I’m currently using the pro equalizer that’s the one that personally sounds best to me but you people can use any of them on your own. You can also actually customize your own to your liking if you know how to mess with all those equalizers presets. In this way, you can actually get the sound as you want.

Astro A50

WHICH ONE IS WORTH BUYING FOR THE PRICE?

In my opinion, Logitech G935 is worth buying for its price that is a hundred and thirty dollars because it sounds good for its price range, the software it uses is really good as it has many features, it has better comfort than the Astro A50 and it does have RGB lighting for its price but the Astro A50 doesn’t have that for its higher price.
