Introduction

Nikon D750

If you find photographic inspiration everywhere and switch between Stills and video without missing a beat or if you want the look a full-frame DSLR can achieve and love sharing your shots, the Nikon d750 is the tool to unleash your artistry. This camera has almost good features which helps the enthusiasts of photography.

Canon EOS 6D Mark II

Canon EOS 6D Mark II is a follow up to the Canon 6D which was a DSLR that had a lot of great features and was very popular. The new 6D mark II has a lot of great features but it also includes or maybe does not include some features that make it pretty controversial. The 6D represents an intermediate point between some of the entry-level DSLRs and the more professionally oriented versions. It offers some high-end features from Canon like weather sealing, and dual pixel AF while keeping a more moderate price point compared to other cameras.

Design

Nikon D750

The Nikon D750 has familiar handling and speed. For those of you who shoot video and want a compact DSLR to bring a production to life when it capture b-roll, you will also find the D750 a perfect fit. I know that a lot of people think a full frame DSLR has to be big and heavy, With all of its amazing features and capabilities. Nikon was able to keep the D750 lighting compact, making an extremely convenient for any shooter. As you’ll quickly notice the ergonomic layout and slim styling of the D750 allows for ample grip space and comfortable holding. This is especially helpful for those of you who take pictures of record video throughout the day and want a comfortable fast responding camera.

Its Nikon’s first full-frame DSLR with a 3.2 inch tilting vari-angle LCD monitor that can be used comfortably for low and high angle compositions when in Live View mode. After all, the slight change of angle an ordinary shot can be transformed into something extraordinary. Maybe the only unique feature in this camera is articulating screen on the back, the top of it looks like exactly like a D610.

The dedicated movie menu enhances the D750’s operating efficiency with many cool pro level features such as smooth power aperture control, auto ISO control for manual mode shooting, high light display mode that features zebra stripes, flat picture control and high fidelity audio controls with built-in stereo. For the beautiful cinematic footage the D750 allows you to record uncompressed video to an optional external recorder as well as compressed video to an internal SD memory card. This camera makes it really simple.

The d750 is part of the Nikon creative lighting system. The built-in flash can be used for fill flash or is a commander for wireless multi flash operation. D750’s commander mode operates with Nikon speed lights including the SB 700 and SB-910 as well as the new SB-500 speed light.

There are two SD card slots in this camera. Slots which is good, you can either use them as extension so you don’t run out of memory or you can copy pictures to both cards and then if you have a card failure, you haven’t actually lost your pictures on backups. As per the design, the only one thing I really disappointed is there is no touchscreen in this camera.

Canon EOS 6D Mark II

They’ve improved the usability and I think this is the biggest advantage of the Canon EOS 6D Mark II. they given us a flippy touch screen, a forward facing articulating screen on a full frame camera. If you do any video it’s really nice to be able to flip that screen forward to either film yourself and know what’s going on camera or if you’re filming somebody else, you can flip it around and show them.

The screen is a touchscreen which can be used to select focus. You can also use it to navigate through parts of the menu. It is also fairly good in direct sunlight. It has the typical great battery life of Canon DSLRs.

Weather and dust sealing are included on the camera which is a great feature if you do a lot of shooting outdoors and traveling. The body itself is also more compact than some of the other Canon DSLR. It is lighter weight making it a bit easier to carry and handle.

Image Quality

Nikon D750

The d750 is designed to take your photography and video to the next level. The newly developed 24.3 megapixel, fx-format, CMOS sensor, and Exspeed4 image processor helps achieve clearer, high quality Stills and video from the cameras wide ISO range. The D750 renders more faithful color and reduced noise at high ISO sensitivity.

The D750 was designed, so you can experience exceptional image quality across a wide ISO range of 100 to 12800. The ISO range is expandable down to ISO 50 and up to 51200 equivalent to cope with various lighting situations that might be challenging. D750 can shoot up to six-and-a-half frames per second at full resolution.

Getting the correct exposure is critical. Just like some of our other full-frame DSLR, the D750 offers an advanced scene recognition with a 91000 pixel RGB sensor. Furthermore, the high light weighted metering capabilities are excellent when photographing under the glare of stage lighting.

There is no on sensor phase detect focusing like the Canon 70D has or many of the newest mirrorless cameras that allow us to focus faster while using that live view screen and that’s kind of important now.

Canon EOS 6D Mark II

It has the 26.2 megapixel. The 26.2 megapixels is a big boost from the 20 megapixels and the original 6D and it actually gives it about 10 percent more sharpness than you might get out of most of the competing cameras that rounded it off at 24 megapixels cameras like the D750.

6.5 frames a second is good, that’s good enough for some action, wildlife, sports. It’s not a fast number, it’s not a number that can compete with the mirror-less cameras of today’s era. It also gives you the option to stand above or below the camera in just about any configuration and still be able to see the live view. They’ve extended the upper part of the ISO range the ISO 40000 and the base ISO is still ISO 100 but you can extend that down to ISO 50.

The buffer for shooting action it’s used at 6.5 frames a second and it will shoot 21 raw file. So, you’re gonna run out of buffer and probably about 4 seconds or so especially with a faster SD card. It only has a single SD card. If you’re shooting JPEG, you’ll be able to shoot 150 shots in a row. So, for things like sports and action, you’ll probably end up shooting JPEG because that 21 raw buffer is going to be limiting really quickly. The single disappointment for me isn’t the lack of 4k but it’s the single SD card in this camera. Even, you could get a Nikon D750 with dual memory cards.

The photo quality and still quality of this camera are top-notch. If you have no interesting video from DSLR then I think this is a very strong contender for the best camera in the price range. I really liked having the live view on the touch screen and being able to focus. The images are very sharp and to me, the colors looked great.

Video Quality

Nikon D750

For movies, Exspeed4 is extremely helpful and that it enables 1080p for 60, 30, or 24 P like all the new Nikon cameras. If you’re looking for a b-roll camera, the D750 offers tremendous control and a vast collection of full frame and Dx-format Nikon lenses that enable you to shoot cinematically.

The 60 frames a second is capturing in additional frame twice as many frames and that means you could slow things down, some slow motion or just get super smooth video. As auto ISO for videos, you can go from indoors to outdoors and it’ll automatically expose things properly while you have it in manual mode controlling that’s the shutter and aperture.

This camera also has smooth iris control, if you want to change the aperture during video. For example, to blur the background more or less, it’s kind of a advanced video feature. Flat picture control mode, it helps improve the dynamic range allowing you to have. There is also zebra striping to show highlights basically shows you which parts of your video are blown out while you’re recording. In video capabilities, it has everything you generally need but there’s no 4k and no raw video and you can get a GH4 for 1600 dollars or 1700 dollars.

Canon EOS 6D Mark II

One of the biggest disappointment, there is no 4k video on this camera. In addition to no 4k, there’s also no high frame rates in 1080p. In 1080p the most you can get is 60 frames. This is really really a bummer for a camera in this class.

It has only 1080p and this is the biggest disappointment because this is Canon largely became known as a fantastic video camera. we’re starting to see smartphones at greater than 1080p which means you’ll appreciate the difference in sharpness.

For video, Canon has dual pixel auto-focus which is unbeatable. The auto-focus quite as smooth and is perfect and as reliable as the dual pixel auto-focus. I found the video files to be simply unusable because of the heavy crop factor and the ridiculously poor video compression codec that they decided to use the motion JPEG. So, if you are doing HD recording and you don’t care that much about sharpness and you want to take advantage of full-frame lenses the Canon 6D Mark 2 is the right answer for you.

This camera also has electronic stabilization which is not sensor stabilization, there is a big difference. It only works with recording video it does not work when taking still photos, so you’re not going to be able to take handheld pictures with your prime lenses with slow shutter speed. But, if you’re recording video while walking or simply want less shaky video, it can help.

As per usual, recording time is limited to 30 minutes. There is HDR video which is canon’s way of kind of extending the dynamic range in video to pull the highlights down. Again, this is something you could do manually using something like a Sony camera but it’s nice that Canon has its built in and you don’t actually have to worry about any post-processing.

Auto Focus

Nikon D750

For stills, the D750 is equipped with Nikon’s high-speed high accuracy 51 point AF system. If you’re shooting moving subjects, you’ll notice how the group area AF provides faster and more secure auto focusing with single point AF.

It’s the same auto-focus system from the D810 and I love the D810 auto-focus system. It works just fantastically, in fact, it bested the famous 5D Mark 3. Now, there are no surprises here 51 auto-focus points 15 of those across type and 11 of those work to f/8, so you could use a telephoto lens. You will still get auto-focus with 11 of those focusing points and for wildlife that can be particularly useful sometimes for sports but mostly that f/8 focusing is a wildlife trick.

This camera also has to -3 EV and if you’re in a very dark situations and still auto-focus and that would be really useful, it would be a big deal if you do night photography. Finally, it has group AF mode just like the D810. Also, Nikon just doesn’t do is focus peaking. Focus peaking incredibly useful for manual focus perhaps with adaptive lenses or for those who just prefer manual focus.

Canon EOS 6D Mark II

One of the big features of the 6D mark II is the AF system that is included on the camera. There’s not much more to say than the Canon dual pixel AF is one of the best if not the best auto-focus systems in the business.

It has 45 auto-focus points which enables live tracking that’s good and they’re cross-type too. we found that to be good enough but it often required a bit of focus and recompose. One big downside is all points clustered around the center of the frame and that’s a big disadvantage. These focusing points don’t even go far enough out to do proper head shots where the eyes are gonna be closer to the top third of the frame and in the corner. Like, you would have to be doing a focus and recompose for every single frame for that type of shot that slows down your workflow.

They did not include a thumb stick on the Canon EOS 6D Mark II but with 45 auto-focus points it gets to be a little bit slow to select focusing points even with us thumb stick. But, especially without a thumb stick you have to use that like directional pad on a dial which is a little bit less convenient.

They did give us F/8 auto-focus that’s useful if you wanted to use a teleconverter, you could use the 70 to 200 at 4 and put a 2x teleconverter on it and still get auto-focus but only with that Center AF point. So, that’s gonna be okay for things like birds in flight where you’re probably gonna have to crop anyway.

Wireless Connectivity

Nikon D750

The D750 is the first Nikon FX camera to come with built-in Wi-Fi for easy image transfer and remote shooting using a compatible smart device. It will give you a new way to share images from a Nikon FX format DSLR.

Canon EOS 6D Mark II

It has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, we found the Canon wireless system to be effective and pretty easy to use among the best. I still like the Sony app a little bit better but the Canon system is definitely better than the new Nikon snap Bridge system.

If you’re on vacation who’s want to be able to share some pictures quickly or even if you’re doing a professional photo shoot and you understand the importance of kind of real time social media you’re gonna find this terribly useful.

It also has GPS, something that’s become kind of a rarity among cameras nowadays. GPS pull up the map module in Lightroom and you can see all the pictures you’ve taken on a big map. Other cameras integrates, they pull the GPS from an app on your smartphone but I have found in practice that this never seems to work.

canon eos 6d mark 2 4

Conclusion

Nikon D750

With its light and compact design, 24.3 megapixel sensor, tilting vari-angle LCD screen, built-in Wi-Fi, special effects mode and the ability to operate within Nikon’s creative lighting system, you can’t go wrong with this camera.

Canon EOS 6D Mark II

It is for DSLR lovers who need full-frame lenses. There is retro LCD screen which become very old technology. There is no electronic viewfinder, no sensor stabilization, no 4k, no headphone jack, no focus peaking kind of important for video. Also, there is only single SD card and no USB charging. For images and stills this camera is still be interesting but in video basis it is just outdated.
