Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Skullcandy Crusher Wireless

The design of the headset is very nice and simple and looks like higher end model. The comfort is also good but there maybe any problem as anyone’s prefernce. The sound of the headset is good but it’s bass heavy and the sound in movies is just awesome factor in this headset.

Skullcandy Venue

The design of the headset is just almost same as the Skullcandy Crusher and the Hesh 3. The Comfort of the headset is also good enough. The sound of the headset is also and it have lots of new feature which make this headset worth for the price of the headset.

DESIGN:

Skullcandy Crusher Wireless

They have a nice solid feel with soft cushioned ear cups. They’re also quite flexible for adjusting to bigger head shapes. There’s a super thick adjustable metal headband and the plastic feels tough which gives you the confidence in handling them as they’re design for durability. There are no flimsy materials used and this makes them less likely to break over time.

Skullcandy Venue

It’s not anything different it actually looks just like the crusher wireless and the Hesh 3. The design is simple and looks stylish. The build quality is also good by considering the price of the headset. it has some creaky sound that’s something terrific in the headset. They also a black, a white, and burgundy model.

COMFORT:

Skullcandy Crusher Wireless

The headphones feel slightly heavier than other brands like Bose or Sennheiser but it just takes time getting used to when wearing. The clamping force can be overpowering as you can feel slight pressure but after wearing them for a while you can easily adjust to this. The force provides the headphones with stability, so if you’re doing physical activity like working out then they’ll actually stay on and it will prevent it from falling off and potentially breaking.

The thick ear cups is what gives them the depth to allow some distance between your ears and the driver. So that they aren’t rubbing against your ears. The ear cups are made from memory foam which adjust to your ear shape making them more comfortable and not giving you any pain. The only mild drawback is that if you wear them for a really long time, they can heat up.

Skullcandy Venue

The first thing that I notice when I pick these up that they felt extremely light. If you’re a traveler, somebody that’s gonna wear these on flights or just walking around the city or subway, you don’t want something that’s heavy you definitely want something that’s light but I will point out that it feels light to the point it might be a little fragile. The one thing I do want to point out too is it’s kind of creaky. As far as the extension that is aluminum but there’s also plastic underneath it.

As far as padding on the headband goes there’s not much there but like it is really light. So, it’s not really that necessary. Once you have them on, you can wear them for long periods of time and there’s really no discomfort. That also goes back into the ear pads, the ear pads are really deep and really soft, they don’t have huge openings. So, once you have them on, they do have a lot of padding. So, it feels really soft but it’s gonna be really hard for a lot of people’s ears to actually go inside that hole opening and they don’t stick out much. They’re pretty flush with my head.

FEATURES:

Skullcandy Crusher Wireless

These are Skullcandy’s higher priced headphones along with Hesh 3. The headphones come with a waterproof carrying case, which is great for portability and keeping them durable over time. Keep in mind that these are designed for basic protection and won’t prevent things like shock or dust. I recommend you to do is to get a hardshell so that your headphones will stay in top condition. Inside we have the actual headphones as you can see.

Inside the accessories box, you get a micro-USB charging port like most headphones and you also get a 3.5mm jack for wired connection in case your wireless battery runs out. So, I suggest you carry this with you along with your headphones as a backup. You could also use it as an aux cable if you’re driving. This is handy if you need a spare cable to play your music from your phone.

The first feature is Bluetooth connection, which allows you to play sound wirelessly. The connection to your device is fast and the sound playing wireless is clear. On the left ear cup there’s a slider, this slider allows you to increase the bass to an insane level. The first time I tried it I honestly didn’t expect it to be anything like this. I mean the only way to describe this is imagine standing next to a huge subwoofer and putting your ears right next to it, it’s that loud.

If you’re a bass head then you won’t find anything like this. Because of the over-ear design you get passive noise cancellation, which will block out a lot of noise but it’s nothing compared to the active noise cancellation. So if you’re into the ANC market then this is not a pair of headphones for you. Although there’s no ANC this is the best noise cancelling headphones that you’ll get compared to a lot of other on-ear headphones.

Skullcandy Venue

The hard shell case is also comes with this headset. It’s a very nice hard case, it’s not the usual soft pouch that you get with Skullcandy headphones. Inside the case, other than the headphones there are slots for the cables. It does come with a 3.5 millimeter headphone cable that way if it is completely dead or if you just prefer to use it wired or if you’re using like the Nintendo switch where bluetooth is not an option.

On your right hand side on the bottom, you do have the micro-USB input to charge then the three-and-a-half millimeter headphone cable input and then above that, you have your volume up and down, your play and pause button, all of that is on your right hand side. Now on your left hand side, you have your power button, active noise-cancelling button, it is also the item noise canceling button also turns on the monitoring mode. So, if somebody comes up to you and starts talking to you, you can just hit that button and the mics on the headphone will start to pull in what’s going on around you. So that you can hear somebody talking to you and not have to take off the headphones and not have to turn off your music and go through all of that.

The power button too if you simply just tap it one time, it will show you out of the four little lights where your batteries at. Your left and right is marked on the inside part of the headband. These headphones have the tile built-in, if you’re not familiar with the tile. It’s a simple little square that you put on your keychains or put in your bag or your wallet and through bluetooth and different connections, your phone is able to track where it is and it’s also able to cause things to beep, so that you can find them. So, if you usually misplace your headphones or you just want to know where they’re at and you can’t find them, you simply open up the app on your phone and through tile you can find them.

The other feature that you’re probably curious about is how is the active noise cancellation of these because that’s the main point that you’re looking into these because these sony’s are 350 the bose are 350, you want something that has that technology but you don’t want to spend that much money. So, in this price range although it’s still a lot of money getting a pair of active noise-cancelling headphones that do an incredible job actually of canceling out noise, you can tell a huge difference between when these are off and when they’re on. It really does knock out, probably about 80% of the sound and so in that price range I think 80 to 85 percent is really impressive.

BATTERY:

Skullcandy Crusher Wireless

You have 40 hours of battery life which is really good. Most headphones today last anywhere between 20 – 30 hours. So, this easily trumps over a lot of the existing wireless headphones. You also have a quick charge feature. So if you charge it for just 10 minutes, you have 3 hours of playback time. You can wear these for hours as you don’t have to charge it much.

Skullcandy Venue

There is a micro USB cable for charging, these do offer fast charging. So, if you charge these for 10 minutes, you will get 5 hours of battery lif, just from 10 minutes of charging that’s really important. This model does get 25 hours of battery life.

SOUND:

Skullcandy Crusher Wireless

Without the bass Haptic feature, the audio separation is still good and has a good frequency balance, which allows you to hear the music as intended. However, if you really want to crank up the bass, then you can just adjust the slider. Music like Hip-Hop, EDM, Rap and Dubstep will really show you how powerful the bass is. With the slider turned up the bass is amazing and the vocals are loud. This really is for bass heads and those who enjoy the punchiness and energetic sounds.

The bass really shines when playing games or watching movies. When watching movies especially, it feels like you have the surround sound or you’re watching it in IMAX. So, I highly suggest you use this Haptic feature to your advantage when you’re watching movies or playing games.

These pair of headphones are very niche specific so it’s not for everyone. Personally though I’ve really enjoyed these and I think these are the best bass headphones that you can get on the market for its price.

Skullcandy Venue

These have a sound signature that just shows you Skullcandy is maturing with the company like the headphones are not just bass heavy just solid thumping all the time. They’re focused on bringing out highs and bringing out mids and actually competing with Bose and Sony in the market of active noise-cancelling.

These do have more bass than the Bose and the Sony but the mids and the treble are actually push really forward where it’s a very exciting lively sound. It’s not flat, it’s not boring and that’s with any genre I tried, I mean metal sounded incredible on these like bass with hip-hop sounded really good and it’s a quick punch. It’s not a resonating low where it just kind of rattles and just kind of shaped, it instantly hits you so you feel the impact and then it backs off. It’s more of a clean tight punchy bass and when you mix that with the way that they did the mids to have clean vocals and the trebles to have really crisp highs. They found a sound signature that’s really fun and doesn’t bury anything out.

WHICH TO BUY?

I think the Skullcandy Venue is better than the Crusher headset because the Crusher headset sound is like that type, it will not be for everyone. But, before or after you buy the Skullcandy Crusher just try the sound of it once, then decide it yourself. The price gap between these two is just $10, the Crusher is $10 less than the Venue.
