The design of the headset is very nice and simple. The look of the headset is very good and impressive. The comfort level and the sound is also pretty good for the price. 

DESIGN:

Turtle Beach Stealth 300

The built material is pretty much the same. It is made out of plastic. This whole thing is constructed out of plastic. Even though adjustable bands, they have plastic on the outer layer but inside of it, this one actually has metal.

Steelseries Arctis 3

The pair is sleek, all-black was very subtle. SteelSeries branding at the bottom of the cup. This all made up of plastic. The design of the headset is as same like all other Steelseries headsets. It looks simple and elegant. 

COMFORT:

Turtle Beach Stealth 300

These have over-ear ear cups and it does have like a memory foam type of material. It’s very soft and the same goes for the headband on the topside, it’s much softer than the one on the ear cups. This is a very comfortable fit, it’s really comfortable and light. I don’t feel any pressure on top of my head, it’s very nice.

Steelseries Arctis 3

The outside of the cups is covered with a very nice smooth rubber and it fits comfortably over my head and ears. The foam pads are made with air-weave fabric and are super soft. They’re very comfortable and great for long gaming sessions.

Below the sturdy black over the band is a ski goggles camo styled adjustable fabric headband. It’s light head fitting and breathable. You can buy different styles to swap out. This is an interesting concept though because it’s interior doesn’t have a large impact on changing the style. Between the ear pads and the headband, I have to say that in my ears of using different headphones for exercise, recreation, mobile, and studio use, these are one of the most comfortable I’ve ever worn.

FEATURES:

This headset is ten dollars cheaper than the Recon 200 but it looks like this has a far better battery life than the Recon 200. According to the box, this has 40 hours of battery life. Unlike the Recon 200, they would only last for like 12 hours.

Inside of the box, we get the manual and also there’s probably a sticker inside. This isn’t a wireless headset but it does have a built-in battery inside of it because this has a special amplification feature just like on the Recon 200. It’s very similar to the Turtle Beach stealth 600. The reason why this has batteries inside of it is that it has amplified audio. The battery life on this should last around 40 hours which is way more than the Recon 200.

This headset has 50-millimeter speakers, a glass friendly design and it also has a flip-up microphone just like on the Recon 200. So, if you flip it up it’s going to mute the mic and then you flip it down you can start talking to your friends.

All the control buttons are located on the left ear cup. We have the power button, the mode button, there’s a volume knob, and also a mic knob to monitor your mic. On the ear cups, there’s like a leather design over here and then there’s like a memory foam on the earcup itself. You can replace these ear cups, you can take them out and clean them.

When you flip the mic up and down, it will make a beeping noise letting you know that the mic is activated or deactivated. Also, when I switch between all the four different modes, it has four different types of beeps.

There are two con things, this cable is detachable and I wish I could use it without the headphones being needed to charge but that helps.

Inside the box, you will get the headset, manual, registration code, a sticker sheet done on thick cardboard which is on a wall, and a surprising amount of cables. The Arctis 3 comes in a black and white variant. This is weighing in at 272 grams or 9.6 ounces. The Arctis 3 has 40 millimeter or 1.6-inch drivers ridded at 98 DB and with a 32-ohm impedance.

The left speaker has all the action happening. From the top, there’s a microphone mute button but it’s sometimes a little difficult to engage. The volume control is a rubberized outer wheel with a microdot texture which is very tactile and easy to adjust. When I was turning the volume on the headset, I did notice a lot of slide grinding about 3/4 of the way up.

The main cable jack port connects the audio to the headset and it uses a proprietary connector, a UC-E6. You can’t find easily the cable replacement, so you should probably stay away until cable replacement is possible. Nobody will complain that the cable they accidentally destroyed was replaced with a cheap connector while they order a nice replacement. Everyone will complain that they couldn’t use their $80 headphones because it uses a proprietary connector.

There are three cables, you’ll connect up the headset side shaped UC-E6 which is a computer side connector, and the cable measures 122 centimeters or 48 inches. You have two choices, first is a dual 3.5 millimeter to use UC-E6 adapter cable measuring 182 centimeters or 72 inches which plugs into your headphone and mic jacks on your PC. The second one is a 4-pole 3.5 mm jack to use a jack, it’s just basically a bendy adapter measuring in at 8 centimeters or 3 inches which allows you to use the set with mobile devices like phones, mp3 players.

There’s a headphone jack which is a nice feature. It’s also controlled by the volume wheel and when you insert another pair of headphones, the volume drops from the set by DB, still, a nice addition to have.

MICROPHONE:

Turtle Beach Stealth 300

The mic is not malleable but I hope it sounds good because the ways are looking pretty good. Overall, for $40 I really have nothing to complain about these headsets which sound amazing. The mic sound is good and clear. At least, you can use this mic for gaming and informal communications, and that much this mic works well.

Steelseries Arctis 3

On the bottom of the headset, you can see the microphone nub. This retractable mic pulls out and extends 9 centimeters or 3.5 inches. The support is easily movable and light but stays in position. The sound of the mic is quite low but it’s clear. The mic is good for gaming and webchat and anything informal.

SOUND:

Turtle Beach Stealth 300

This has surround sound and it also has audio presets including bass boost. not only is this headset going to work with your Xbox one but it is also going to work with your ps4, PC, and even Mac.

This headset actually has four different modes, so there’s a signature balance mode, a bass boost mode, a treble boost mode, and then there’s a treble/bass boost mode. Overall, this headset sounds really good for playing call of duty, this does not lack any bass. I even listen to music with these and they sound really good.

In terms of loudness, this can get really loud. I usually play at around like 60 percent volume and these get the job done, they sound great. When I was playing Call of Duty, I can hear being shot at, people cut walking on the left side, and it was very easy to get used to and these are quite comfortable.

The battery helps the headphones sound better, it has these amplification modes and the bass on these really do sound really well. When I was playing Call of Duty, the audio space I was in sounded amazing which is almost as good as the Stealth 600.

It has Xbox One’s Windows Sonic for headphones that deliver impressive virtual sound. It’s got audio presets including bass boost and a variable mic monitoring.

Steelseries Arctis 3

There are two ways of sound, first the normal stereo sound and 7.1 surround sound. The sound from these is decent. They reproduce well good highs, great mids, and defined lows. They’re a bit quieter than I’m used to though about minus 6 DBS.

I was able to get some real volume and a nice bass as it got up to a volume of 40. The Arctis 3 connects with an audio jack only. There’s also a setting of the headset called Steelseries Engine. I played witcher 3 in the shadow of Mordor for several hours each game, I found the environmental effects in Witcher 3.

It was a decent experience, you could hear some stuff kinda in the background. Shadow of Mordor was my real test game because you could really hear work screaming and you could very definitely tell exactly where that voice was coming from. I think it’s got to do with the fact that the Arctis 3 is a specialization effect to create the different speakers in the different locations and it’s good if there’s only that one sound playing, you can really kind of tell it’s supposed to be behind you or supposed to be on your back right. But, with the Arctis 3, I just seem washed out with the other sounds coming out of the speaker.

The specialization has to be very precise in order to create that effect and with music playing and the sword-swinging and other things happening, I couldn’t really tell what was in the background. Overall, I was happy that there was an extra effect but it didn’t sound similar to a normal properly set up surround sound system.

If you’re looking for that kind of experience, you should buy a surround sound set up instead. If you don’t have the space of that or maybe the cache for that then buying the Arctis 3, it’ll give you a bit more of a richer sound and kind of fills out the audio sphere as it was but you’re not going to have the same experience. I enjoyed a lot with the headphones, I had a great time doing it. There is a good reasonable volume in the headset.

WHICH TO BUY?

The design and comfort level of both the headsets are good. The price range of the headset is a little bit vary and the gap between the price is not that much. The sound quality of the Stealth 300 is good and there are many features about the sound like four modes but that doesn’t make that difference. The Steelseries Arctis 3 also has a 7.1 surround sound system and the sound quality is also pretty good as per the price.

I will recommend Steelseries Arctis 3 but here the mic sound is quite low but the price of this is also lower than the Stealth 300. If you a budget of $80, you can buy the Stealth 300 which is also a good one with a good sounded mic.
