INTRODUCTION:

Turtle Beach Stealth 300

The design and comfort level is pretty good. As per the price, the design is so simple. Ths sound quality and many other features of the headset are also good which made that it’s worth buying at this price.

Turtle Beach Recon 50X

The design is very simple for this price range and comfort level is also good. The sound quality is not that much good but this price range, it’s great.

DESIGN & BUILD QUALITY:

Turtle Beach Stealth 300

This is a wired headset, this is based on the stealth 600. We get a very interesting design that’s focused on really capturing and tapping into that sort of younger and more affordable market. When they’re younger people or just generally gamers, if you’re trying to get a headset and you want something that is a step up from the base headset it comes with your console that’s a little bit more durable a little bit better, then this is a great option.

It is a bit of a like hard plastic but that makes a little bit more durable. It’s got some bend to its top and give kind of tough, it’s not gonna break down. The cord material is thick and made up of good material, I don’t think you’re gonna have this break. I think this is pretty durable. it’s not like super intense quality but it does the job and it does it well and it’s not terribly expensive, it’s a great entry point if you want to try out Turtle Beach.

Turtle Beach Recon 50X

It actually looks pretty nice. It’s got the Xbox green on the headband Turtle Beach logos and inner ear cover. The black has sort of a matte or soft finish and the green is bright and vibrant. Unfortunately, it screams cheap plastic and the second you pick it up you notice it. It’s almost like a child’s toy rather than a nice piece of gaming gear. On the other hand, the ear cushions are fairly nice, nothing special but adequate.

The mic is detachable but the wires are not. There are two wires, one for each ear which isn’t the biggest deal but it definitely makes the headset look way cheaper than it is.

The main thing on this headset is plastic. I mean, it’s everywhere from the ear cups to the headband and everywhere in between. Thankfully, Turtle Beach decided to make the ear cushions foam wrapped with synthetic leathers. The build quality feels extremely cheap. Although they held up fairly well in my testing, I wouldn’t expect them to last very long at all. Plastic tends to break and crack over time.

COMFORT:

Turtle Beach Stealth 300

We’ve got a mesh comfy top on the headset. We’ve got mesh on the earphones, it’s fairly comfy it fits along with the ears pretty well. This has comfy memory foam mesh padding in the earpads and the headband. This headset is light-weight and I didn’t have any pressure on top of my head. Overall, it’s nice and comfortable.

Turtle Beach Recon 50X

This headset has very minimal padding. If you even want to call it that on the headband itself which I thought would be very uncomfortable but I was pleasantly surprised, I found this heads it to be very comfortable for up to about four hours. This far exceeded my expectation considering the price point and the lack of padding.

The ear cups were big enough to cover my ears without coming in contact with them and the leatherette covered foam padding was quite soft. I think the main reason why this headset was so comfortable is actually its weight. It’s extremely lightweight because of all the plastic building materials like I could wear it for up to four hours at a time with no irritation.

FEATURES:

Turtle Beach Stealth 300

This version is really compatible with any sort of marketplace or platform, you can use this on your PC, phone, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One which is what the color scheme is primarily for with the green ones. The cord is kind of just attached, it’s a nice lengthy sort of cord which has standard 3.5 cables at the end. There are forty hours of battery life is 900 mAh lithium, so the charge is pretty good. It’s very quick to charge too.

On the side of the earcup, we got a couple of different options. One you hold down for power, it’ll be a green light that turns on and the other is for mode and so you can adjust the modes. On the other side, we have the option to adjust the mic and the chat volume. and stuff so that you can find the right one. Sort of audio match that works for your gaming setup, very easygoing. We’ve also got a cord micro USB which gonna plugin there fairly lengthy cord which is like charge stuff.

You get a good immersion with the sound with this headset obviously. This is a pretty good headset. They got good glass friendly technology, you can rest sit a little bit of foam going on there ear side, it’s a little comfier for people that have glasses.

This has easygoing eternal 50-millimeter speakers, so you get good audio quality. It’s compatible with Sonic and Atmos support if you have it on your particular console or platform. I noticed these basically has the same mesh but with some difference in both the Stealth 300 and 600, the wired and wireless version. It’s comfy and fits really easily on the ear. It’s also adjustable, so you change how long it is.

Turtle Beach Recon 50X

They’re very easy to use, just plug them in and play. You can adjust the volume and mute your mic with the inline control and that’s it. There are no special instructions needed for this one, it’s simple. There are no extra buttons or controls for any specific features.

Turtle Beach designed this headset to work with Xbox, so it’s a hundred percent compatible with Xbox so long as you have a current Xbox One controller with a 3.5-millimeter jack on the bottom. If you don’t have this, you will need a controller adapter or a chat pad to use this headset.

This headset costs around $30 now. For this price range, you’re getting some pretty good features for your money like a detachable mic, lightweight design, extended comfort, inline controls, and over the ear fit with decent but not great sound qualities.

MICROPHONE:

Turtle Beach Stealth 300

The mic sound very clear and quality audio sound. It’s got a flipped out mic, there is an audio key to let you know when it’s muted. You can mute the mic just by flipping up, it’s very intuitive you can push it all the way back and do a little bit of half and you’ll know when or when not it is muted.

The mic seems to be picking up audio and doesn’t seem to pick up a lot of background noise. It’s alright for noise canceling, it’s not amazing but it’s fine.

Turtle Beach Recon 50X

This Recon 50x features a detachable boom style mic. I like being able to detach the mic for travel and storage, so this is definitely a feature I look for in headsets. The quality of the mic did surprise me a bit. It sounds very good for a headset at this price point.

It actually sounds fairly good which is great news for everyone you’re communicating with in-game. The one thing I didn’t like and this is pretty nitpicky was the fact that it has absolutely no mic monitoring, I couldn’t hear how loud I was being and thus I found myself shouting into the mic. Not having mic monitoring really makes me appreciate this feature in more expensive headsets.

SOUND:

Turtle Beach Stealth 300

It gets you immersed when you get the volume up, you can be really loud and you can hear outside of things. I think it’s pretty decent especially if you’re looking for something that’s a little bit more entry-level.

There are four modes for the sound of the headset. So, you can choose between those modes whatever you like. It’s a very easygoing headset, I think it’s nice and decent entry-level headset. If you’re especially like, you don’t want the bass headset and you want something a little bit nice and want something fits on the ears, it’s a good offering in that regard.

I played with it on a couple of things for testing this out. I play games such as Halo 5: Guardians, the world war two, PUBG, fortnight. It’s great quality, it works incredibly well. I was particularly surprised by the effort on the Nintendo Switch, so this one actually does allow in-game checks when you’re using the Nintendo switch which is really cool. So, you actually get in there and you can talk with people and you can listen to them and it supports other Nintendo switch games that have in-game chat available which is really great. So, you don’t even need like a weird extra app or anything, you just plug it and you’re good to go which is really nice.

This has great sound action on that platform to which I was a little bit surprised at both but generally, it’s good. You can listen to it off the phone, on your computer, if you want to use it that way it’s a good all-around headset which is really nice.

Turtle Beach Recon 50X

This headset sounds okay. The drivers are 40-millimeter single-chambered drivers and with a single chamber system. This headset is producing all of the sounds from one place which can muddy the waters so to speak and honestly that’s exactly how this headset sounds.

In terms of bass, mids, and highs, the bass sounds pretty good but it can be inconsistent. Explosions and other bassy sounds are clear and loud most of the time. The mids are super muddy and cluttered which means party chat clarity suffers. The highs are also inconsistent. Sometimes, I could hear clear footsteps and sometimes they were almost non-existent and if someone was in party chat talking then there was absolutely no way, I was gonna hear those footsteps.

The sound stage isn’t very big means I couldn’t hear footsteps from far away. The enemy players needed to be fairly close to me to recognize the sound as of footsteps. Finally, the noise cancellation was not very good at all, I could hear most of what was going on outside of the headset unless something loud was happening in-game and that’s pretty normal for headsets in this price point though. So, I can’t be too upset about it. The bass and the highs are clear most of the time, the Recon 50x makes an okay sound for gaming particularly when you consider the price point.

WHICH TO BUY?

I will recommend Stealth 300 but if you have very tight budget or you’re an entry-level gamer and want any budget-friendly headset which costs around $30, you can Recon 50X. But, every feature and sound is nice in the Stealth 300. If you don’t care about the sound quality and clarity that much, you can buy Recon 50X. In Recon 50X, the sound quality and everything is okay, but for $30 we can’t expect more than that.
