Ultimate Ears Blast

The manufacturer of the Blast speaker from the Ultimate Ears is Logitech. This speaker is also very popular in the market for its qualitative sound as like other Ultimate Ears speakers. This speaker is also retailing for a lower-price of around ninety dollars. This speaker also features the Amazon Alexa function as voice assistant.

Ultimate Ears Megaboom

The Megaboom speaker is the speaker which almost looks the same like the Boom speakers. The Megaboom is bigger in size while the Boom speaker is smaller in size other than that there is no difference among them physically. This speaker is retailing fpr around a hundred and thirty dollars currently.

On the top of the speaker is where you have got your power button and Bluetooth pairing button and on the side of the speaker you have got huge plus and minus button for volume up and down. At the bottom of the speaker is where you got your micro USB charging port when you flip open the flap there. Also, this speaker supports wireless charging through the power-up dock that you have to buy separately.

To charge this speaker wirelessly, you need to unscrew the D-ring that comes with the speaker and screw the D-ring that comes with a Power-up dock in your speaker. The power-up charging dock charges through micro-USB and the speaker charges through the metal ending right there at the bottom of the speaker. You need to set the speaker on the charging dock and you can see the light came on which indicates it’s charging.

As far as the button controls, this speaker has also got the same huge plus and minus buttons on the  front of the speaker for the volume up and down. On the top of the speaker is where we have got the power button which makes some drum sound on turning on and off, and the Bluetooth pairing button is also there on the top of the speaker. At the bottom of the speaker is where you have got your micro-USB charging port and also a 3.5 millimeter jack for non-Bluetooth devices.

The design looks really great and also looks like the Boom speakers and the entire speaker is covered with mesh material and rubber material for button controls. This speaker is available in four different colors charcoal black, lava red, electric blue, and plum. There is also a strip on the side of the speaker which helps you in hanging this speaker if you need to be.

The Blast speakers are the Bluetooth speakers from the Ultimate Ears. The box claims that these speakers have got the Amzon Alexa as voice assistant, it has also got Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, battery life of up to 12, 360-degree spatial sound feature, and also these are IP67 water-proof rated. You have got Amazon music, Spotify, and Tuned in, etc on which you can use the function of Alexa.

The box comes in a nice presentation and art work as like the other boxes from the Ultimate Ears. Inside the box, you have got the speaker themselves, some paper work with the quick start guide, a plug and the actual charging unit, and the same flat micro-USB charging cable as get with other speakers from Ultimate Ears. As these are IP67 water-proof rated, these can be submerged in 1meter of water for up to 30 minutes. The company also claims that, this speaker can be connected via Wi-Fi up to 330 feet and via Bluetooth up to 150 feet.

Ultimate Ears Megaboom

The Megaboom speakers from the Ultimate Ears  is IPX7 rated which means these can be submerged in 1 meter water up to 30 minutes and also dust-proof. As these are water-proof and dust-proof, these can be washed in case if it gets dirty. As far as the battery life, this speaker has 20 hours of battery life as the company has advertised but on the go with 100 percent volume you gonna get around 10 hours of play time. It takes around two and half hours to get fully charge.

The pairing process in this is really easy, first you need to hold the Bluetooth button the top of the speaker and then go to the phone Bluetooth setting there you will find the UE Megaboom, just click it on and pair it and you are done. You can also connect this speaker to computer, TV, etc. The Bluetooth range is around one hundred feet on this as the company claims. You can also connect two of these speakers and let them sound together simultaneously. You have also an app where you can adjust the sound quality.

I tested out the sound quality on the Blast speaker from the Ultimate Ears with a bunch of different musics from different genres at maximum volume, and as per my tested i felt like there is no distortion on this at all even at the maximum volume. The sound quality on this is really crystal clear even at the maximum volume. as these speakers are featured 360-degree spatial sound, these gives same equally quality sound from all the sides of it.

Ultimate Ears Megaboom

The sound quality on the Ultimate Ears Megaboom is really impressive and also delivers power bass. The vocals are really clear and you can easily hear the instrument separation. With the help of dual two-inch drivers these speakers delivers great sound quality. You have also got an app for equalizer in case if you are not satisfied with the sound quality on this, then you can go through the EQ settings in the app. You can adjust the bass, mids, treble, etc in the custom settings and also you have got different presets to set it down in the app itself.

Ultimate Ears Megaboom

In my opinion, the Ultimate Ears Blast is worth buying for the price than the Ultimate Ears Megaboom speakers if you want a Bluetooth speaker under hundred dollars. But if you want a Bluetooth speaker having great sound quality and also great battery life, then the Ultimate Ears Megaboom is also worth buying for its price.

The Ultimate Ears UE Blast puts Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant in a portable, rugged, waterproof Bluetooth speaker.

By Tech Radar
The Ultimate Ears Blast is really two products in one – it’s primarily a portable Bluetooth speaker but with the added functionality of a smart speaker like the Amazon Echo. The inclusion of Alexa makes the Blast useful in the home when paired with the optional Power Up dock – and, when it comes time to leave the house and head to the beach, you have an excellent-sounding Bluetooth speaker.

At £109, the UE Blast is the cheapest, most versatile smart speaker on the market. No other speaker is this rugged and waterproof, has Bluetooth and Alexa compatibility. It’s compact, too, and although it doesn’t sound as good as its bigger sibling, the UE Megablast, sound quality isn’t bad at all.

The MEGABOOM covers most listening scenarios better, but it is slightly worse off when it comes to portability, so if your primary concerns are sound quality and volume, the MEGABOOM will fit the bill better, but if you want something to reside in your backpack, you will find yourself wanting the BOOM instead.
