Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Ultimate Ears Wonderboom

The Ultimate Ears Wonderboom is a really decent little mid-range wireless Bluetooth speaker, it’s pretty awesome. The thing about Bluetooth speakers is that they can actually get a bit pricey. This speaker is retailing for around seventy dollars maximum currently. Actually, these are retailing for different prices based on the color you prefer to buy.

JBL Charge 3

The JBL Charge 3 is a waterproof portable Bluetooth speaker. These speakers come in five different colors you got black, blue, grey, red, and teal. Even though you have a color option in this model speaker, the price on this remains the same for all the colors. This speaker is retailing for around a hundred dollars currently.

Ultimate Ears Wonderboom

DESIGN:

Ultimate Ears Wonderboom

As far as the design, this speaker has got a nice design to it. It has a round shape to it as it also features 360 degrees surround sound. It has a fabric grill design to it which gives a nice grip to hold it. It has got a nice little size which helps you to hold your hand easily if you have got a big palm. This speaker has also got a little hook on the side of it, so using the hook you can hang the speaker wherever you want.

As far as the button controls on this, you have got huge volume controls on the front of the speaker. There is a huge plus button to increase the volume on this and also there is a huge minus button to decrease the volume on this. On top of the speaker, you have got your power button, your Bluetooth button, and your multifunctional button wrote as UE to play-pause and to skip the tracks. On the back of the speaker is where you have got your micro USB charging port for charging this speaker.

JBL Charge 3

This looks pretty much similar to the JBL Xtreme but there are few differences among them. The Charge 3 is a little bit smaller than the Xtreme and that metal grill in the Xtreme is not there, you got a fabric grill in the Charge 3, I like that and it’s a nice touch. On the top of the speaker, there is your Bluetooth button, volume down button, your power button, JBL connect button, volume up button, and you’re playing and pause button. There is a JBL Brandon right there, there are also your five LEDs, some grip on the bottom keep it in place, and the Charge 3 Brandon on the little rubber flap.

When you open the flap up, there’s your 3.5-millimeter slot right there just in case you have a non-Bluetooth device, get a 3.5-millimeter cable plug it right in, and plug it into your device. There’s also your micro USB charging slot, and there’s your USB out your power bank you can charge up a phone, charge up a tablet, charge up a camera, etc with that. The flap also has a little snapback action that’s really good. You have your radiators on both sides, and that’s pretty much it on the speaker.

JBL Charge 3

FEATURES:

Ultimate Ears Wonderboom

As far as the size, it’s about 10 centimeters high, it’s actually really small and for its size, it pumps out a surprising amount of volume and a surprising amount of bass. The Wonderboom features two 40 millimeter active drivers and two 46/1 and 65/2 passive resonators, which is basically what’s giving you that awesome low-end output. It has a frequency range of 20 Hertz to 20 kilohertz and kicks out a whopping eighty-six decibels. So, that’s a lot of volume with a really decent frequency range and I have to mention the audio quality of this thing is incredibly impressive.

Some of its extra features on the list are that it has a 10-hour battery life with roughly two and a half-hour charge time, so for any outing, this is gonna definitely last long enough with a decent volume output, so you’re covered on battery life. It also has a Bluetooth connection rate of a hundred feet roughly 33 meters roundabout, so I mean you’re never really gonna be standing further away from within that, so the range is excellent as well.

It can also pair up to eight devices but one of the best things about this is that if you have two Wonderboom speakers, you can simultaneously collect one device to both the speakers and get double the audio output from two from spaces. So, it is 360 sound but then you can have two speakers emitting 360 sound, so you’re gonna get awesome surround sound. It’s IPX7 rated so that means it’s waterproof up to one-meter depth for thirty minutes. So, it’s waterproof that you can throw it in the pool should be fine you can actually wipe it and rinse it if it gets dirty.

JBL Charge 3

The box comes in a nice presentation and in the box, you get your speaker themselves, your micro USB charging cable, and the charging brick. Some of the features as the box claims are this is a Bluetooth speaker, you get 20 hours of playtime if you’re rocking with the maximum volume you can just cut that in half 10 hours that’s still pretty good, you get a built-in six thousand milliamp power bank so you can charge up other portable devices, this does have a speakerphone so you can use this for hands-free calling, and it is rated IPX7 waterproof which means that you can submerge it up to about 3 feet for 30 minutes.

Also, you do have the JBL Connect app, so if you got a JBL Xtreme, or if you got another Charge 3, or any other JBL speaker, you could pair them both up and have stereo sound. In order to have left and right channels, you got to have to Charge 3. If you got a JBL Xtreme and the Charge 3, you could pair them up but it’s not going to be left and right channels but the music will play simultaneously. For size comparison with the Beats Pill Plus, both are almost the same size lengthwise but the Charge 3 is a little bit wider than the Pill Plus. Weight-wise, the Pill Plus probably has a little bit more weight than the Charge 3.

SOUND QUALITY:

Ultimate Ears Wonderboom

Basically, the sound quality is really impressive high quality, extremely loud low in sound. For me personally, it sounds a bit treble heavy but I imagine that’s a more equalized sound like I prefer a more bass-heavy sound but it really pumps out the volume and it really pumps up the clarity.

JBL Charge 3

This sounds pretty good for 150 dollars. The bass was really good and the radiators were shaking, so there’s a nice amount of bass on this and it is super loud definitely. I paired up the Charge 3 and the Xtreme together using the JBL Connect app and since these are two different speakers we can’t do left and right channels but we can put it in party mode and both speakers will play at the same time.

When I pair these up together, it sounds amazing, and it’s synced up perfectly, no lag, no delay, that’s a nice little feature right there. Compared to the Pill Plus, the JBL Charge 3 sounds a little bit more Hollow and that’s probably because it’s waterproof but the Pill Plus sounds a little bit more clear. As far as loudness, I think the Charge 3 sounds a little bit louder though.

JBL Charge 3

WHICH TO BUY?

If you want decent quality sound and also you don’t want to walk around with really crappy Bluetooth speakers at a lower price range, on that point, the Wonderboom from Ultimate Ears is good for you to buy in my opinion. If you want better battery life and if you are ready to afford more price for your speaker then just based on the sound, the battery life, and the waterproof nature of it, the JBL Charge 3 is also not bad for the price.
