Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Jaybird Tarah Pro

The Jaybird Tarah Pro is one of the earbuds in the market which can be used during gym activities and during workout times. These are the updated version earphones of its previous model the Jaybird Tarah. These earphones are currently retailing for around a hundred and forty dollars.

Sennheiser CX SPORT

The form factor and functionality of these is good, it looks great, can sound great, works really well, and for it’s intended purpose, it is almost perfect. These are currently retailing for a hundred dollars.

DESIGN:

Jaybird Tarah Pro

I really like the nylon braided cord here in these and there is also a cinch up to adjust the length of the cord. When the X4 came out there’s a lot of people that really do not like the cinch but I actually enjoyed this cinch make it simple when I’m working out.

They are magnetized, they use a little stronger magnet and it’s supposed to stop playing music once they’re magnetized. It took about five seconds or so for it to catch up and then stop so it’s not a deal-breaker. You have the inline control to raise up the volume or change songs and I tested it, it works well. The cinch cord works very well, and the nylon cord is very comfortable.

Sennheiser CX SPORT

Sennheiser has a classic design with the lime color which represents it is for sports activity. When you look really closely into these, you will appreciate the attention to detail in the build of this product. The metal logo on the side of the earbuds reflects different colors of the spectrum at different angles. The tips of these earbuds are also made of metal, which makes it feel premium and also makes it more durable. The wire is thick and feels strong enough and it is of appropriate length, and you can also adjust it with this permanently attached clip to make it fit better.

You have the buttons, microphone, DAC, Amp, battery, Bluetooth receiver all contained into the two small plastic parts, making this a very light headset at just 15 grams. You’ve got these 3 very easy ways to feel buttons, which can be used to power them on and off, change volume, skip tracks, attend and reject calls, check the battery status, and pressing the center button thrice launches the Google Assistant.

COMFORT:

Jaybird Tarah Pro

I actually like the single-piece rubber ear tip that they have on here. I don’t have to deal with the wing move in and the readjusting the bud in these. I like this new style it doesn’t really feel like you have a big ball of rubber in your ear. The fit and comfort are not as good as the Master and Dynamic. You will know it’s there, there’s something in your ear but it’s not uncomfortable. They’re very comfortable than the Jaybird Run.

Sennheiser CX SPORT

They have the wingtips that help in securing the earphones in your ear. I tried all kinds of moves on these, and they stayed in my ear, most of the time. So I think most people will be fine at the gym, where I also tested these at, and they worked very well, as I was expecting. And you can also use the included clip to further secure these to yourself if the wingtips aren’t enough for you.

The comfort for me was great, I used the small ear tip, and it fit me perfectly. But if your ears are somewhere in between, you can always replace them with any other ear tips that you like. Even if you lay in bed with these on you won’t feel uncomfortable. These are so light that you can’t even feel that you are wearing them. You can also remove the wingtips, making them even more comfortable, if you use the larger ear tips.

FEATURES:

Jaybird Tarah Pro

You get 14 hours, sweat proof, switch fit, and these are available a few other colors too. In the box, you get your earphones, your charging cable, your carrying case, and some extra eat tips and ear wings. These are passive noise isolation earphones. So these do block out the outside world. But for safety purposes, you can hear your surroundings.

The Bluetooth technology here is an advanced one that is Bluetooth 5.0. The Bluetooth 5.0 is great for wireless range and battery efficiency. As far as connections there was no issue at all with these. I checked out the lag latency in these, what I mean is, is there any delay between what we hear and what we see. But there was no lag at all with these on YouTube and Netflix also.

Sennheiser CX SPORT

In the box, you get a soft carrying bag with a Sennheiser logo, a small Micro USB cable for charging, one very handy clip that can hold these earphones to your clothing at any angle, different sizes of wingtips, and ear tips for a comfortable fit, including this extremely small one. Then you have some manuals and finally, nicely packed earphones.

These are also sweat-resistant, so all the sweaty people are also covered. These have Bluetooth 4.2 with AptX Low Latency, so you will not get any issue with the wireless connection, and one really nice thing about these is that they connect instantly to your phone. This really as fast as connecting a wired headset. And it can connect to two devices at the same time, which some people consider essential for the wireless gear. The range is also very good, I was able to walk around my apartment with a wall or two in between without a problem, and without obstacles the advertised range of 10 meters is accurate.

They also have great noise isolation, which comes in really handy as the staff at my gym plays music very loudly. One thing I really like about these is that the earbuds are very small, and they don’t protrude out of your ear when you wear them. The microphone on these is really great, and I really enjoyed making phone calls on these. The mic is positioned perfectly and sounds very good.

Jaybird Tarah Pro

BATTERY AND ITS LIFE:

Jaybird Tarah Pro

The company claims 14 hours of battery life in these earphones. By my test, I found out that it’s nearly right because I never ran out of battery as a normal user with a 50% volume. These also have quick charge features so 5 minutes of charging will give you around 2 hours of playback.

Sennheiser CX SPORT

These have around 6 hours of battery life, which is pretty fair for something of this size, but these support fast charging, so you can get an hour of playback in 10 minutes, and can completely charge them in 1.5 hours. I am not a fan of MicroUSB in 2020, but at least the supplied cable is small and can be very easily carried in the bag provided.

SOUND:

Jaybird Tarah Pro

I really like my earbuds to be loud, solid bass but not overpowering, I like vocals to be clean, I like my mids to be strong and more towards the high end, and then on the highs and Jaybird kind of confirmed that for me in these. They’ve turned me on to personalized EQ and when the EQ is set up for what you hear, what your ears pick up is the little tiny details, and it sounds really just amazing.

Sennheiser CX SPORT

The sound quality on these can be really great if it has the equalizer to tweak the sound to be great. They sound very loud, even tiny details can be heard, and have energetic bass. And I enjoyed listening to my music collection on these. They have a V-shaped sound signature, which is really nice to have. The bass is adequately good, and you can hear every detail. But make sure that you are using the larger ear tips if you feel the bass to be lacking, which is what I felt with the tips that are on these by default. Mids are good too, but I add a decibel of gain to make them sound more balanced.

The treble or the highs on these earphones are what I found to be tuned way higher than what I find to be comfortable, and I have to use the equalizer to reduce the treble range to get a good sound, which is a lot. The soundstage on these is not very wide, but there is still good instrument separation and detail, so I don’t mind that.

Sennheiser CX SPORT

WHICH TO BUY?

In my opinion, you should buy the Sennheiser CX Sport because it sounds better even without the equalizer, has better comfort, and performs better than the Jaybird Tarah Pro at price less than the Tarah Pro.
