Logitech G Pro Wireless

This mouse is quite popular in the mouse world because of its lightweight and design. This mouse is retailing at a high price range and it also has that many convenient features.

Razer Viper Ultimate

Not only is it wireless, but it’s also got new sensor technology inside as well. They’re taking the fight right to the G Pro Wireless with this one. This is more of mainly the improvements that Razer has made to their wireless technology and the new sensor because there’s a lot of innovation in this Mouse.

DESIGN & COMFORT:

Logitech G Pro Wireless

The weight of the mouse is 80 grams, which means this mouse is absolutely lightweight. It hardly feels us in your hand when you’re actually using it. This is fantastic because if you are an FPS gamer, flicking from left to right or actually using the mouse on your daily basis, you’ll feel that you’re like using a very small mini mouse that you’ll be using with your laptop rather than a full-blown desktop mouse which actually fits pretty well in your hands. So, I am very impressed with the overall weight and it’s a massive step up from the Logitech G903 which was a lot heavier in terms of using it and made it a little bit more awkward for FPS gamers or people who want to be fast-paced or using the mouse left and right all the time. In terms of using it, it’s very comfortable. Surprisingly, there are no adjustable weights that are included in the box whereas most of Logitech’s products come with adjustable weights.

Razer Viper Ultimate

The Viper Ultimate has very familiar looks because we literally just got introduced to the Viper. As a refresher, it measures 126 millimeters long, 62 millimeters wide at the front and 66 millimeters at the rear, and 60 millimeters wide at the grip with a height of 38 millimeters. They were able to maintain a lightweight at 74 grams, only up five grams from the wired version of the Viper.

It’s still a true ambidextrous Mouse with side buttons on both sides and they’re also using the same fast optical switches we saw on the old Viper as well. The only tactical difference I can feel on the ultimate versus the Viper is that the scroll wheel on the ultimate seems to have a bit higher tension than the Viper.

The included cable is a paracord light cable but it’s a thicker looser weave than the speed flex cable on the Viper. The cable has a proprietary connector and if you find yourself in a real pinch and you have to play immediately, you can’t run the mouse wired as well. They say that this wireless base platform will be Universal going forward.

FEATURES & PERFORMANCE:

Logitech G Pro Wireless

When you open the box, some things might intrigue you. The first thing that you’ll notice is the little plastic bits and this is because you can remove the left and right-hand side buttons of the mouse and you can replace them with plastic bits which basically cover them up. So, if you’re a right-handed user, you can completely cover up the right-hand buttons, so that you can’t click them whereas, on the left-hand side, these little magnetic things click into place which equates to a button which is fantastic because therefore, you can use it as a left-hander or a right-hander. Then, you have got a little kind of box which is simply for an extender, so you plug in the micro USB connector which is included in this, and once you’ve connected that, you connect up the small little USB adapter. If your computer is far away from your actual Mouse, you can do this method and can place this on your desk or have it somewhere that’s a little bit more accessible. Also, you can use this wire for charging.

Now, in terms of the build quality in designing Mouse, it’s fantastic. You’ve got a left and right button, you’ve got the scroll wheel which sounds great and there’s no rattle at all in terms of the scroll wheel. On the right-hand side, you’ve got two buttons and the left-hand side two buttons which can be removed or customized, then you’ve got a dedicated DPI switch button underneath the mouse which makes sense. You’ve got an on and off switch, so you can save battery if you so wish by switching it off. This will switch off on idle when it’s not being used for a while and resume very quickly as soon as you pick up the mouse again and then also underneath, you’ve got a small little USB holder which is great for that little USB piece. It means you can take it on the go.

In terms of battery life, if you use the lighting you expect to have around 48 hours of usage, whilst if you have no lighting it can extend to around 60 hours. Now that’s absolutely massive which is great because it means that you have to charge the mouse a lot less often that you’d normally have to versus other gaming mice which is a massive plus for people who are especially on the go or people who just don’t like having wires. So, it’s a great job that Logitech has done this and they’ve done this because of the sensor.

Now, in terms of the overall polling rate, it’s 1,000 Hertz which means you’ve got no problems in terms of its latency but the most important thing over here and the reason why this mouse can last such a long time is because of its Hero sensor. The Logitech’s Hero sensors go up to 16,000 DPI that’s more than you’ll ever need. If you’re wondering about the Hero sensor, it’s not Logitech’s very own new sensor which competes with other flawless gaming mouse sensors that include the PWM3366 sensor and also the Pixart sensor as well.

Nevertheless, those two mouse sensors are highly regarded as among the very best sensors that you can find on the market. You might be wondering what is the difference in terms of performance between the two. Going up to 12,000 DPI which is a maximum of the older sensor I had no problems whatsoever. They both flawlessly work, they work through different materials, their one-to-one tracking is fantastic and in terms of how it works with angle snapping or acceleration, there’s none of it. It’s very much a perfect sensor. Overall, I’m very impressed with the sensor in terms of its overall performance, and very much is like the older sensor. Apart from the fact that this one now goes up to 16,000 DPI which is 4,000 extra DPI. Most of the people don’t use the DPI over 4000 but for some very finite like not 0.1% of the population that uses more than 12,000 DPI.

It is slightly expensive versus the G903 but not that much high. This is slightly more expensive. However, it’s a lightweight Mouse, it has its power play enabled, it has a lightsync technology which in other words has flawless wireless technology to and from the PC. It’s beautifully built means that you can use it for a left-handed or right-handed person and more. So, it’s performance is flawless, there are no problems in terms of tracking or anything like that.

Razer Viper Ultimate

The sensor used here is new, it’s called the ‘Focus Plus’ and while Razer recognizes that no one really plays at those crazy high DPI levels, this sensor is rated up to 20,000 but more importantly than chasing high speed, they really put a focus on dialing in accuracy at low DPI. People sometimes forget that whether or not a mouse has software there always exists firmware code that helps that sensor in that hardware communicate with the PC as such Razer’s got three new technologies built into their firmware here to help increase sensor performance. Smart tracking automatically calculates the liftoff distance for your surface and adjusts accordingly, a symmetric cutoff allows you to dial in both the liftoff and the landing distance or the level at which the mouse begins to track the surface again to reduce cursor drift when you place your mouse back down, motion sync feeds cursor location info to your PC at a rate more in tune with how your PC pulls information, in theory, that should present more accurate cursor tracking and positioning.

The wireless feels really good, they call it their Hyperspeed Wireless Technology and they claim it to be 25% faster than any other wireless out there. I’ve spent loads of time with the Mamba Wireless and the Lancehead Wireless and this feels better.

One of the first things I noticed was wake on sleep time. Their previous wireless mouse had a noticeable delay when waking up and that’s not the case here, this thing is ready when you are ready. Whether I play with the wireless dongle in the back of the PC or in the base, I see no difference in performance. You can also set sleep time and the percentage of battery remaining before the mouse goes into low-power mode. It does warn that you’ll see reduced tracking speed and sensor acceleration to preserve battery but in practice, I didn’t really feel any difference, the reduction is minimal. You could also store the wireless dongle inside the mouse itself and there is a DPI indicator LED on the bottom of the mouse as well as an on/off switch.

The base or charging dock serves a couple of purposes; the first one that acts as a wireless extender, the wireless dongle inserts right into the top. It’s got a sticky silicon base like their Mouse budgies, so you can stick it wherever you want. It also charges when you put the mouse on it, it will indicate by color the current charge level of the mouse.

The feet are redesigned to accommodate the charging cable and charging base. They’re 100 percent PTFE, they’re pretty thick, they’ve got rounded edges. They feel high quality than any aftermarket feet I’ve used and they glide much better than the stock feet.

In various situations of gaming, I score higher consistently with the Viper. Whether that comes down to sensor tracking or cliff timing from the optical switches. I also find my Viper glides better on the pad than the G Pro Wireless even with the tiger arc pad installed.

BATTERY:

We’ll need a charge at some point. So, when you need to plugin, you have the micro USB connector and it clicks into play and it can be used whilst being in a wired mode as well that’s great because it allows the best of both worlds. So, you can have it wired or when it’s fully charged you can have it wireless. Nevertheless, you can charge it whilst it’s off or you can plug it into a wall socket in order to charge. Also, this mouse is power-play compatible. So, if you’ve got a Logitech mouse pad and you want to charge the mouse whilst using it wirelessly, you can do. You’ll just need the power play adapter in order to do that.

Razer Viper Ultimate

The battery is 70 hours with the RGB disabled. The charge is really fast too. Razer quotes 5 hours of playtime for every 10 minutes of charge. When the base is not charging, it has its own chroma settings.

WHICH TO BUY?

In the weight, battery life, and in many more things, the Razer Viper Ultimate is better and if we consider the price, both are in the same range but with the charging dock, the Viper Ultimate retails $20 more. So, if you have that $20 more which comes around $150, then Razer Viper Ultimate will be better to buy as it offers many things better than the G Pro Wireless.
