INTRODUCTION:

Logitech G305 Lightspeed 

 This is one of the cheapest proper wireless mice around and I mean, it actually works for gaming. Logitech G305 Lightspeed may be plain when compared with others but it has great strength. If you want a big resolution at a low price you should go for G305.

Logitech G502 Lightspeed 

The G502 wireless one of the most popular gaming mice ever made has now gone Wireless, the price of the Logitech G502 is around $150, it weighs 114 grams. This mouse is great for FPS games, it has amazing sensor performance.

DESIGN & COMFORT:

Logitech G305 Lightspeed

It’s a very plain looking gaming mouse, it doesn’t have any RGB lighting on it and it doesn’t scream gamer and it’s kind of inoffensive. Honestly, I think it’s a really physically attractive Mouse, it’s well contoured. At the base, there’s some very plain blue branding. The actual feet are very evenly spaced across the base and it’s got a really nice kind of satisfying glide on a surface and it doesn’t feel like a cheap Mouse that it kind of has an unbalanced feeling on a surface, it feels really well planted. I really like the switch on and off button, especially when it turns blue when it’s on and red when it’s off. 

It fits in your hand really well, it is a bit small but honestly, I’m quite used to mice not fitting in my hand properly but, if you do palm grip it may be an issue if you have bigger hands. The actual build quality is very plasticky and you can feel that it’s not the most well-made Mouse ever. Honestly, it doesn’t feel like it’s going to break and there isn’t any more creaking in the body than there was the moment that I took it out of the packaging, so it’s holding up very well after quite a lot of heavy use.

Logitech G502 Lightspeed 

When you open the box, you’ll get the mouse, some weights, and a wireless adapter, and a cord. The wireless adapter can be plugged directly into the computer with the dongle or just by using the cable. One thing I didn’t like is a Logitech braided cable. It’s really annoying when you have to charge your mouse and use this braided cable at the same time.

The mouse itself carries the same ergonomic design as the first Mouse, now with a wireless switch and a place for the light speed adapter, if you want to use that Logitech Power Plate mouse pad. The mouse is weighing in at 114 grams which is not horrible, you can also ask for 16 grams making it 130 grams in total if you like. You can place four of the 2 grams in the middle and two of the 4 grams in the back of the mouse.

It’s got these texture grips on each side that are a little bit too rough for me, personally, I would like to see just like a rubberized grip kind of like on the G703. Now this mouse can be used for all grip styles, palm, cloth, fingertip grip. Now my hands are 19.6 by 7 centimeters and it fits perfectly and another three to four centimeters should be safe for your length and your width of your palm. Claw does work well with this mouse but, it does cause me some discomfort with these side grips I feel like 1-3-1 grip. 1-3-1 grip is the best overall bit for this mouse because it has that ledge, so you can put your ring finger on it, which alleviates some of the discomforts when I did use this mouse.

The mouse is comfortable in my opinion until you have to pick it up again and again. So, the one major con for me is that the weight distribution is kind of weighted towards the back, and then with that slant on the back, it kind of lends itself forward the mouse to fall out of the back of your hand but if you’re using a palm grip or 1-3-1, you won’t have that issue because there’s more surface area on the mouse so you won’t have it falling out of your hand.  A lot of the people that are using this mouse are probably gonna be palm grip users.

FEATURES & PERFORMANCE:

When looking at the actual buttons on the mouse, it’s only got two extra buttons and these buttons have a really nice clicky sound. The wheel is also very nice, it’s not adjustable like you get on some of the fancier Logitech mice but, it feels very inoffensive and it’s also got a nice texture to it. The DPI selector is also very nicely placed. Unfortunately, you can’t go up and down in DPI, you have to cycle through it. So, if you miss the DPI setting that you’re using on the fly, then it does make it quite difficult because you have to quickly cycle through all the settings.

 Logitech software is really good. One of the first things that was a worry for me about the mouse was the gaps between the actual DPI selections, but that’s really easy, you just download the software and you change the actual DPI settings, and the various steps, so that’s very useful. You can also program all of the buttons to do the things that you wanted to.

The mouse really keeps well in FPS gaming, especially if you bring the polling rate down. It really feels like a proper mouse while gaming. When it comes to the actual sensor, its DPI sensitivity can go high enough for you to never need more, even at 4k it’s way fast enough, it’s perfect.

One of the really nice things about a wireless mouse when it comes to a desktop setup is that it eliminates one wire that you kind of have to deal with on your desk, so it means that it does make your setup look cleaner. When traveling around, the size and weight of this mouse mean that you never have to worry about where you’re gonna fit it in your backpack, you’re always gonna have space for it. It is really the perfect travel companion in my opinion. Here, you’re not sacrificing on having a portable Mouse for when you’re traveling. It is really easy and convenient, light, and easy to store, and then you have amazing gaming performance with it as well.

Overall, the G305 is a really epic Mouse. There are a couple of things that I don’t like about it- the first one is its build quality, it’s a little bit plasticky for me, but that does mean that it’s very light which is preferable for a lot of people but some people do prefer a heavy solid feeling mouse. You’re not really going to be able to tell much of the difference between this and a wired mouse because I didn’t ever feel like the tracking was off or like there was a delay in the input.

Logitech G502 Lightspeed 

It’s got a quick DPI button switch near your thumb that actually is pretty useful in-game for switching your DPI on-the-fly if you want to switch like a sniper. It’s got two side buttons and two buttons for the DPI switch up top which is indicated by the lights on the side. In the middle, it’s got a button to unlock the hyper scroll wheel, the button above that shows the battery life on the mouse. The mouse one or two clicks are nice and light. Logitech has some of the best clicks in the game.

The new Logitech G hub software is not very great, but it does allow you to control the DPI levels. The hero sensor does go up to 16,000 DPI and has a polling rate of 1,000 Hertz. You can also control the RGB with the usual effects like breathing in a single color mode to match your setup.

Another con for me is that, while the scroll wheel is amazing for editing and browsing but when you’re actually gaming, it rattles and when you kind of reposition your mouse over and over again, the mouse scroll wheel kind of rattles and shakes, and you feel it throughout the whole mouse. So, I don’t think it’s that great for a competitive setting, or for casual gaming. One more issue that I had with this mouse is that on the back-right it is a little bit too sharp. The corner is a little bit too sharp, so when you are swiping the mouse, the backside really starts to dig and scratch your mousepad, so that can be another distraction while you’re trying to game, especially in some of the fast-paced eSports games.

If you need a mouse with a lot of buttons this is actually a pretty good option, I don’t think there’s anything better in the wireless market that has this many buttons, has a great sensor, and has a decent shape for like palm grip users. Reducing the Mouse way down to 114 grams actually helps this mouse out quite a bit in my opinion. I actually played better than I thought I would with this mouse but that was only once I switched to the 1-3-1 grips, it’s just way too uncomfortable for trying to claw grip this mouse. So, for the people that a palm grip users out there, it could actually work for you.

BATTERY:

Logitech G305 Lightspeed

For battery, you can pull the back panel off, and then you’ve got the battery in there. It uses a normal AA battery, and honestly, it’s battery life is amazing. It does come with an OEM Duracell battery, so that may be why the battery life out of the box is really good, and over there on the bottom, it’s got a spot for you to store the little USB dongle. The little dongle is very small and it doesn’t get in the way. The battery life of this mouse is amazing.

It doesn’t seem to use any power, if you’re not using it, you don’t have to worry about the battery issues with it. One of the things that you do have to keep in mind though is that it doesn’t have that kind of lightspeed technology where you can actually charge it through the mousepad, but honestly considering the battery life, I wouldn’t worry about that.

Logitech G502 Lightspeed 

The battery life is rated at 60 hours of gameplay and can quick charge for 5 minutes for up to 2.5 hours of gameplay. Now Logitech never fails when it comes to battery life.

WHICH TO BUY?

The price gap between this mouse is huge. Both have different design and features. Logitech G305 is the highest-rated wireless Logitech mouse with the most reasonable price, it has 2 colors matte black and matte white, and can be used by right or left-handed people, but it may not be well-suited for people with large hands as it’s small in size. Logitech G502 is great for FPS games, it has amazing sensor performance, it’s cable is also flexible and light. Logitech G502 is expensive than Logitech G305, So if your budget is low go for G305, and if it is high, go for G502.
