INTRODUCTION:

Logitech G502 Lightspeed

This mouse is an advanced wireless mouse from the G502 Hero mouse. This mouse has different useful features from the other mouse. This may not comfortable for some of the people because of its wideness but for most of the people, it works well.

Logitech G Pro Wireless

It’s fully ambidextrous with modular side buttons and has a long battery life, and is seemingly really high build quality. It almost seems just a bonus at this point. The only drawback to this is the cost.

DESIGN:

Logitech G502 Lightspeed

This is not a new mouse design. It has a pretty legendary reputation and it’s either like the best selling gaming mouse of all time. The G502 Hero weighs at 121 grams and features an additional 18 grams and add-on weights bringing the total weight without cable to 139 grams. Now, the G502 Lightspeed managed to cut weight in the offseason to a liter 114 grams and while they still offer 16 grams of additional weights, I suspect those weights will be staying in the box for most players. The G502 Lightspeed and the G Pro Wireless, both using the same wireless technology but the G Pro Wireless tipping the scales are only 80 grams.

On to size and shape, if you’re already familiar with the G502, it’s a G 502 with no tricks and surprises. The measurement can be a little misleading due to the thumb groove but this is at approximately 132 mm long, 44 mm high at the peak, and with where you’re gonna grab the mouse is approximately 56 mm.

I prefer to play with a palm grip. Logitech does something with their saves time and time again and that builds really effective slopes on the outside edge of their mice to assist with liftoff, particularly with heavier models. The outside slope here isn’t this pronounced as it is on G900 but it’s still effective for that and it’s got this nice rubberized texture to help you out there as well. The mouse body slopes off into the right, I personally wish it didn’t do this.

The G900 and G903 from my hand size offer perfect support inside the palm of my hand right behind my knuckles. When I grab the G502, I want it to be here but with that lack of support on the outside of my hand, I have to use my ring finger laterally to keep it in place, it’s a little fatiguing and it’s inconsistent.

When my hand naturally settles into place, it pushes that mouse forward with my hand resting completely on the mouse surface instead of the mouse body. So, I could get accustomed to a fingertip grip here but this also pushes the forward thumb button a couple of millimeters out of reach, so I find myself tucking this mouse back in. It’s one of those minor things that I’ll probably adjust to and it doesn’t seem to affect my gameplay at all. This mouse is just wide enough for me to keep my grip consistent and for me that’s what sets this mouse apart from the G Pro Wireless.

Logitech G Pro Wireless

The Logitech G Pro Wireless is a medium-sized to ambidextrous mouse with modular side buttons. It has the best sensor on the market and it only weighs about 80 grams. The 80 grams and also it’s wireless is outstanding, especially for this size. On paper, this looks like the best Mouse ever made for first-person shooters and possibly MOBAs too, you could even use it for MMO but that doesn’t mean it’s going to suit you, remember everyone is different.

If you’re a competitive player, I think it’s time to try Wireless but there were two remaining problems the weight and the battery life but this one is 80 grams and only 77 if you take out the bottom plate. If you play using the power play technology, it will be 82 grams. You could also add a 10-gram weight if it’s too light but having mice users may want to stick to the G403.

It’s plastic all over and to reduce the weight so much, the walls are ultra-thin at 1 millimeter. Surprisingly, it’s still very solid, I’m not feeling any flex when wrapping it tightly. So, the plastic is strong and while they added some texture to it, some people might find it a bit slippery. It is similar to what you’d find on the G403 top. Rubber grips have a habit of wearing out, so this might be a good change.

Logitech has been working on their shapes, so with the sides mostly flat with just enough curve, you should have enough of a ledge to help with picking it up. Personally, I think they could go a bit deeper with the curves but maybe they’re playing it safe. It’s the right shape to help with grip and the same goes for the buttons.

Comfort curves are there but not to the extent in the G403 which in my opinion are nicer. The slope of the buttons is more gradual which for me is the biggest difference other than the width where my fingers are placed.

After a lot of feedback, it seems a mouse with measurements of 60% of your hand size is best. If you go smaller than 60%, you might find you’ll get cramps in your hands and pain in your fingers. If you go larger than 60%, you might not be reaching your full potential with an aim, 60% is the balance.

It’s roughly 4 centimeters high, the width in line with the sensor is 5.9, and the length is about 12.5. It depends on your grip style as well. It’s not really designed for palm grip. For comfort and actually holding it in your palm, I would say you need hands under 17.5 centimeters. This is more for claw and fingertip grip and that would be for 20 by 10-centimeter hands but it could be used for claw between 17 and 22. The curve is is a little forward, so it may be harder to rest your palm on it and fingertip between 18 and 22 each end of the spectrum may have some issues with grip and the middle is best.

I’ve used his mouse for a few months and it’s been great. There’s no extra sound when tapping it or shaking it, this seems really well built.

FEATURES & PERFORMANCE:

Logitech G502 Lightspeed

Looking at the G502 Lightspeed versus the G Pro Wireless, this is a totally different thing. It’s kind of like a hybrid of the G903 and the G Pro Wireless with some options not seen on either one.

It is strictly a right-hand Mouse unlike the other two but like the G903, it has the same hyper scroll wheel and I had zero balance issues and it also features side to side tilt scroll which I like when I’m editing.

You get three thumb buttons, two where you’d expect to find them and a sniper or dpi clutch button in the forward position as well. You also get two assignable buttons that right along the left edge of the mouse, these default to dpi up and down but can obviously be reassigned and are really intuitive once you get used to them being there. The button where you’d normally find the DPI cycle displays battery life on these LEDs.

One of the biggest takeaways for me after using this mouse for a week solid is that I could definitely see how somebody could get used to the assignment flexibility and the additional button positions that the G502 offers. Then not being able to or just not wanting to move to a different mouse because some important aspect of their gameplay is dependent on the architecture of this mouse. This is the most flexible mouse I’ve personally used in that regard.

It’s got a weight adjustment system that includes 4 two-gram weights in 2 four-gram weights. The two-gram weights are housed in the mid-body under this magnetic panel and the four-gram weights are housed in the rear door that covers storage for the dongle. You can store the dongle on board and it’s labeled in case you own a bunch of Logitech wireless stuff. I choose to run this mouse with no additional weights but if you have liftoff balance issues where you just like a heavier mouse for stability, there you go.

For the time, you do need to charge this mouse. The included cable is thin, braided, and very flexible, pretty much on par with the cable that’s included in the G Pro Wireless with that cable being rubberized, this cable is braided. Every other piece of Logitech gear I own uses the old-school trident connector, this fits on all the mice, keyboard, and everything. They’ve got with the new connector for this mouse, the new connector fits all the old stuff but the old trident cables will not fit on this mouse. That means if you lose this specific cable, you’re probably in problem because most generic micro USB cables are not gonna fit the housing on this mouse.

Logitech G Pro Wireless

Logitech wireless is as good as wide mice, no latency, no performance issues, they’re amazing. Logitech continues to impress with their left and right and I snap to them but still easy to press in and no accidental clicks, that’s for my fingers anyway. It is actually easy to press in than many wheels, scrolling up and down has just enough tension in the steps which should keep many counter-strike players happy. The side buttons are small and out of the way and seem to have less trouble than the G403. I would say these are better and you can have them on both sides, or just on one, or maybe one on each side.

Having multiple side buttons is amazing, it’s very easy to take out and put in. You get four individual buttons and blocks, so not only can we choose which ones we want to be activated but it also means left-handers can use his mouse as well.

The DPI button is safely hidden away on the bottom, so no accidentally switching DPI. In the latency testing, I couldn’t find a difference between it and even the wired Logitech mice.

The cable is about 1.8 meters, smooth rubber, and kind of flexible. I couldn’t get an exact time but I think you can do a full charge in about two hours. It comes with an adapter and USB and the USB also fits in the bottom of the mouse for easy travel. The weight balance is quite central, a little toward the back if you leave the plate in.

You will probably hear a lot about the new hero sensor and with good reason, it performs as well as of 3366. In all my testing, it’s seven to ten times the power efficiency which is a big reason why the battery lasts so long. I can’t make it spin out even when moving in as fast as I can, with previous versions I had a few issues with tilting the mouse and slamming it down but not on this one.

It tracked everything, this sensor is just amazing. It zooms in, it tracked pixel by pixel, so your sniper shots should be on point. It does the smoothly, so rapid-fire weapons should be great too. I can’t find any acceleration or deceleration and liftoff distance is very low. The sensor is not a worry on the new Logitech mice because of the power consumption and some other stats from what I hear this is currently the best but I think only computers and proper equipment will be able to tell the difference because in-game, this feels the same as a 3366 to me.

In the old one I like it doesn’t clot as easily but is quieter and for me, it gives more control. The new has less resistance and is somehow louder and it seems that’s what a lot of people like, it’s all personal preference.

BATTERY:

Logitech G502 Lightspeed

This mouse does work with the powerplay charging map. The thing is mouse service is a really personal choice and competitive players are usually going to pick a mouse service based on what best suits their play style not necessarily what charges their mouse.

The battery life here is rated at 48 hours with the default lighting or 60 hours with lighting disabled and it supports quick charge. So, a 5-minute charge will score you 2.5 hours of gameplay over USB too.

Logitech G Pro Wireless

If we look in software, you see it estimates about battery life at 49 hours that’s remaining on a full charge. So, about two full days use but that’s with the lights on, and with the lights off, it’s about 63 hours. This is one of the best selling points of the mouse. The G903 with the lights off would last about half that, the same is true for the G403.

Logitech reduced the size of the battery to save on weight. They doubled the battery life, no doubt mostly thanks to the new hero sensor.

SOFTWARE:

Logitech G502 Lightspeed

In the software, everything is customizable and the software is the most useful one in this mouse. It’s the hero 16k sensor again and I think we’ve seen this thing proved enough at this point to know that it’s solid. DPI adjustment occurs in steps of 50 and can go as low as 100, you can have a max of 5 speeds with one of them being able to be switched or clutch too with the forward side button. The polling rate is adjustable in the software as well as a very deep reassignment menu in a macro system.

Logitech G Pro Wireless

In the software, you can edit the commands with all the regulars as well as G shift which is what makes this mouse potentially suitable to MMO. As you can essentially double the number of functions on the mouse. There’s also keystroke at multi-key macro.

In the software at some stage, we will all switch to G Hub but I used the Logitech Gaming software. The DPI ranges from 100 to 16,000 and that’s in steps of 50. It’s an RGB mouse, so you do have some color options including synchronizing all your Logitech devices. I would personally leave the lighting off unless using it with the power play pad which will mean you don’t have to recharge it.

WHICH TO BUY?

Both the mouse is nice and works well but suits different types of people. If you are palm gripper and you’re right-handed and want something works well for gaming and little bit everything then G502 Lightspeed will be great and it’s also $30 less comparatively. Otherwise, G Pro Wireless is also nice to try and good mouse if you’re comfortable with that.
