Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Logitech K780

The Logitech K780 is retailing for quite a higher price, that is for around a hundred and six dollars. But this keyboard can connect up to three devices at the same time which is really great to have at this price point. This keyboard also comes with a built-in stand that is used to keep your tablet or mobile phone while you are typing.

Logitech K480

The Logitech K480 Bluetooth keyboard is a wireless keyboard that works with your computer, tablet, or smartphone. It’s compatible with Windows, Android, Chrome OS, Mac, and iOS devices. This keyboard is retailing for around thirty-four dollars currently on Amazon. I love this keyboard and it has completely changed the way I use my iPad.

DESIGN:

Logitech K780

After using the Logitech K780 keyboard I was in love with this keyboard. On the side, we have the power on and off button, upfront there on the top in white there are three buttons labeled one, two, and three to switch between multiple devices. At the top, you’ve got a rubber tray to hold devices such as your iPhone and iPad. At the bottom, you’ve got shortcut keys for both Mac and Windows.

At the back of the keyboard, you’ve got a tray just slide it down, and located inside are the two AAA batteries, and to the right, you’ve got a USB Unifying adapter for computers that don’t have Bluetooth. Its slim design allows you to carry it anywhere with you in the house. This makes it a great companion for the iPad as well. Just dock the iPad right into the rubber tray, and go on with whatever you’ve got to do. It’s not an iPad Magic Keyboard but it’s also not 349 dollars.

Logitech K480

When it comes to the design, it seems like Logitech tried to make the most functional keyboard completely ignoring the look. This really looks like a keyboard made for children. It’s available in two colors there’s white with a grey dock insert and black with a neon green insert. It’s bulky, it’s heavy, and overall cheap feeling. The entire body creaks, when you pick it up. The plastic flexes in spots and the dock insur doesn’t fit perfectly.

These are very gripes but this certainly does not feel like a premium device. If it wasn’t so heavy, then it would easily topple from the weight of your tablet. But the weight will make you think twice about throwing it in your bag. If you’re looking for portability, then this is not the keyboard for you but because Logitech wasn’t concerned with that. You get a full-size keyboard, this is standard keyboard spacing, you won’t feel cramped like you would another tablet keyboards.

FEATURES:

Logitech K780

Pairing this keyboard up is super easy, just press and hold down any of the multi-device keys until the LED light on the button begins to flash rapidly. Go to the device you’re connecting to and select the keyboard from the list of Bluetooth devices. Once selected, you will get a prompt to enter a six-digit passcode on the keyboard, enter that in, and then press the enter key and you’ll be good to go. The process is the same for the computer and iPhone and iPad.

The keyboard is smart enough to know what device it’s connected to and allows you to use the shortcut keys accordingly. For example, on the iPhone press command and A to select all the text, command and c to copy it, and command and v to paste it. The keyboard is so smart that you can even go to the home screen of the iPhone by pressing the home button at the top of the keyboard. Want to change the volume of something playing, just press the volume keys on the keyboard to raise lower and even mute.

At any time while using the keyboard with my iPhone, I can just press button number one and be taken back to my computer, switching is flawless and here too the keyboard realizes it’s a Mac, so all the shortcuts and keyboard keys work accordingly. This is by far my favorite feature because when I’m editing my youtube videos and switching between my iPhone and Mac, this keyboard helps to make my life easy. Another thing I love about this keyboard is how quiet the keys are when typing.

Logitech K480

There are two features that really make this keyboard unique. First off is the integrated cradle that can hold your tablet or smartphone. It’ll fit most tablets up to ten inches wide, and the slot is made of a very firm rubber which both protects your device from getting scuffed and it also keeps it secure. This works better than I expected it would. I use this with my iPad Air 2 and it really stays put even when I am using it on my lap. Even if you’re moving around you can feel safe that your device isn’t going to slide out. The slot is even wide enough to accommodate a tablet and a smartphone at the same time. At first, I thought who would do that but after trying it out that way I really loved it. Being able to type a paper on my iPad and then jumping back to my phone to respond to a text or email work great. I never thought about using these two devices together that way. The other great feature is the dial-in this. You can set up the three devices and easily switch between them by just turning the dial.

Setting up the keyboard is extremely easy, enable Bluetooth discovery in your device then just hold down one of the two buttons for three seconds to pair. There’s a PC button for Windows, Android, or Chrome OS, and an eye button for Mac or iOS. One minor annoyance is that they put the power button on the bottom, so if you have your device in the cradle and you forgot to turn it on, you’d have to take your device out. It would have been nice if Logitech placed it on the front, there’s plenty of space after all. While I was hesitant to buy this based solely on the looks. Logitech also makes the better-looking K780 but having the dock really changes the way you could use a keyboard with your tablet.

PERFORMANCE:

Logitech K780

In the time I’ve used this what I really love is the ability to seamlessly switch between devices with just the tap of a button. When I’m at the computer working I just leave my phone in the rubber tray and if I get a message or need to type something up on my phone, I just tap button number three, and the keyboard switches right over. What’s great is that keyboard shortcuts work even on the iPhone. As far as the battery life, Logitech claims it’ll last for 24 months. This is amazing and for me, I’ve been running it for seven months with it rarely ever off and it’s been flawless so far. I got this keyboard to have the ability to switch between my devices and it’s definitely pleasing.

Logitech K480

The dial-in keyboard works very well and devices connect in just seconds. I’m impressed with how quickly you can switch between devices. Typing feels really comfortable on this, there’s a good amount of travel on the keys, and the shortcut and media keys also work well. I’m able to use this on my lap and not worry about my iPad falling out and breaking. I also can use it in bed and find just the right position to comfortably type and since this thing is so heavy the weight really keeps it in place. So, it’s not bouncing around. This keyboard has become one of my favorite pieces of tech. It has completely changed the way I use my iPad.

Logitech K480

WHICH TO BUY?

In my opinion, both of these keyboards are good for you to buy. It just depends on your preference to choose the one for you. If you want a qualitative keyboard with good build quality and great performance, then the Logitech is K780 is the one for you. If you can’t afford that price range, then you can go for the K480 as that is also good for the price but at that price, you will get cheap quality materials and the performance will not be that good compared to the K780.
