The MX Master 3 is definitely the all-round sort of like great for productivity. With all the buttons that are available and the ability to customize them how you like, you can even customize them down to these specific applications and you can make it work for you and it could really speed up your workflow in your productivity. I think that’s what really matters most when you get a mouse like this because it’s not cheap.

This mouse has some features and a good look like a normal mouse. The design is also very comfortable for everyday use. This mouse also has some of the features that are with the Master 3.

DESIGN:

The top of the mouse mainly consists of a rubber coating, so it gives you a nice good grip when you’re using the mouse. I think it has a nice two-tone look with the dark grey rubber and this satin gray plastic.

The mouse itself fits fantastically in my hand, my hand basically leaves sort of molds around it. Everyone’s experience will be different but my hand feels very comfortable on it and I love how it’s sort of slanted a little bit as well just makes it super easy and comfortable to use.

The two-color design looks really nice, I like it a lot. The design and overall feel are really good. It feels really nice and I like this textured surface which is very comfortable to go and is very grippy.

FEATURES & PERFORMANCE:

In the box, you get the mouse, the USB dongle, and you get a USB to USB-C cable to charge the mouse. The bottom of the mouse has an on/off switch and it also has a button to switch between pair devices. So, you can pair up to three different devices computer, laptop, tablet, whatever you want and you can switch between them very easily.

What really makes this mouse special is the array of different buttons available at your fingertips. It does take a bit of time getting used to all the different buttons because you’ve got to figure out all they are under your fingers but once you do and once you liked it, it can really be amazing how productive this mouse can be. You had the traditional left and right-click very tactile and very clicky and yet the sound of them falls in line with other Masters that I’ve used in the past.

You have two buttons on the side that you can use with your thumb and these buttons can be used for either going back and forward on a web page or they can be used to undo or redo in a program or application. Then, you have a button where your thumb rest which Logitech calls the gesture button. This button can be used for various things.

You also have the scroller at the top which Logitech has sort of redesigned to have electromagnets in it. With your traditional mouse, you have notches when you use the scroll Logitech still has this and they use electromagnets to create the effect of notches and it feels great but with one click of the button behind the scroll, you can change it. So that, it Scrolls completely free without any notches, it feels incredibly smooth and you can just flick it to quickly scroll through pages or scroll through code.

There is a scroll wheel on the side of the mouse which you can use with your thumb and this is used to basically horizontally scroll whether it be through a timeline or web page or whatever else but I wish it had a bit more vertical scroll because I feel like the mouse itself sort of gets in the way of your thumb. So, you can’t quickly scroll through things with it, that’s my main issue with it. I think if it had a bit more vertical scroll I’ll be able to more quickly go through video timeline or go through like an artboard in the sketch or something like that.

With this mouse, you can pair it up to three devices. It uses the Logitech USB wireless receiver, this is the 2.4 gigahertz receiver or you can connect this mouse with Bluetooth as well. So, there are two ways to connect this mouse to your computer and it’s compatible with Windows 7, Windows 10, Mac OS, Chrome OS, and Linux.

There are three side buttons, the first two are customizable and the last one is for switching between the different pairing modes. So, you can hold out for a split second and it will go into pairing mode very quickly. There is also a hidden thumb button underneath those three buttons. At the top, we have a button for locking the wheel, so when you press once you can have this free-scrolling wheel and if you press down to lock it, it will sort of lock the wheel into a more manageable scroll.

The gap under the battery is for keeping the wireless receiver. So, they can bring it around wherever you go without losing this or you can just use their Bluetooth connection. According to the specifications, the resolution is 1000 DPI, tracking is very accurate and you can use this on a mouse pad or without a mouse pad and it clicks very satisfyingly. The scroll wheel has the rubber ring and it’s really nice to screw and the sound of scrolling is also quite satisfying.

BATTERY:

I very much like how you can continue using the mouse even whilst it’s charging because of the placement of the USB C port unlike the Magic Mouse, you can still use it whenever you want even when your battery’s low but because they’ve actually lasted so long. You’re not actually going to be charging it that often anyway. The full charge can give you about 70 days of use.

Battery life from this single AA battery is rated to be around who use and based on my experience with Logitech mouse, you can definitely expect long-lasting battery life.

SOFTWARE:

The Logitech do recommend downloading their Logitech options software to make the most of the mouse and I highly recommend it too because it will definitely get the most out of your mouse.

For the gesture button, the Logitech options software can be used to customize it how you wish. You can hold down the gesture button and then move it up down left or right and carry out an action, it’s pretty amazing what you can do and there are various default options but you can make it completely custom if you like to as well.

Instead of the Logitech unifying software, this time they are using the app called Logitech option. So, all these circles on the mouse are the buttons where you can customize. There’s a long list of shortcuts that you can select. I always go for keystrokes assignment to input my keyboard shortcut, so I have that button assigned to come on up which is to a grow up to the top instantly. We have three buttons on the side, the first id for to scroll up instantly, next is escape and this hidden thumb button is to enter. So, I have escape and enter button because I use Adobe software very often so escape allows me to escape out of the tool and enter allows me to enter the text or enter a new line.

Here, you can change the pointer, scrolling speed, the scroll direction, and smooth scrolling, you can also change this too with the OS settings. There’s a tiny little battery icon in the software that will tell you how much battery life is left in the mouse. There’s also the flow technology which allows you to transfer the images and text very easily from one device to another like copy and paste.

WHICH TO BUY?

The M720 Triathlon mouse definitely doesn’t have many features that are in the MX Master 3 but there are some satisfying features and performance for its price. The price of the M720 Triathlon is $40, so we can’t expect that much with this price range mouse. If you’re satisfied with the features of M720 mouse and if you want a low-cost mouse with some good features then this will be good to buy. If you have a budget of $100 then you can try MX Master 3 which has great features and performance.
