Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Logitech Z623

The Logitech Z623 is currently retailing for around a hundred and twenty dollars. These speakers come with one subwoofer and two satellite speakers. These speakers are really good in terms of sound quality and bass.

Logitech Z625

The Logitech Z625 is a PC and game console speaker system that consists of a subwoofer and two satellite speakers. These speakers are retailing for around a hundred and fifty dollars currently. These speakers are more of a gaming speaker than music listening to speakers because of their loudness.

Logitech Z623

DESIGN:

Logitech Z623

It comes with a 3.5-millimeter cable to connect it to your computer, a big beefy subwoofer it is branded Logitech right inside, you have the main controller speaker which is branded THX which has a nice design, you have a power button, a volume knob, a bass knob and you have a headphone and aux jack on the side.

There are different ports on the back of the subwoofer. We have left channel, right channel audio at 3.5-millimeter jack what looks like a VGA cable port, and the audio jack for the companion speaker that is just so weird to see this on a subwoofer.

Fit and finish straight up is black, sleek, sexy black, metal hardware accents, it’ll look good on your desk regardless of the decor of the room. You’ve got your power button, your volume knob, and your base knob in the front there and you have your mic and headphone jacks on the side of the main speaker so the ergonomics were good.

Logitech Z625

The Logitech Z625 has a 2.1 channel system in 400-watt THX. Inside the box, we have a satellite speaker which is for the right channel. This is actually the main control unit so it has the VGA type of cable. There is the volume knob, then you have the power button and there is also a bass knob. Then we have the headphone jack as well as the auxiliary input in it.

Then we have the second satellite speaker which is for the left channel. Also in the box, we get the optical cable fiber and one aux cable. Then we have the subwoofer and it has the RCA connector as the first input, then the 3.5 mm input, then the optical cable input, a port for connecting the right speaker to the main one, and the last one is for connecting the left one.

Logitech Z625

FEATURES:

Logitech Z623

These speakers come in a big box and the box claims that big rich THX-certified sound with deep bass for movies, games, and music. On the back, we have a little more information on THX-certified audio, 400 watts, and tells you about the audio connections, it’s got easy to turn the volume knob, around on the other side we have a little technical information for those who are interested. So total watts RMS is two hundred, a hundred and thirty watts for the subwoofer, and then 35 watts for each satellite speaker.

The packaging advertises four hundred watts that’s not entirely accurate. It is a 400-watt peak with a 200 watt RMS. 200 watt RMS is quite loud enough but 400 watts refers to the peak, the speaker’s peak at 400 watts. So I think Logitech needs to change the packaging because when you’re shopping around for speakers when you see 400 watts you automatically assume that refers to 400 watt RMS and that is not the case with these speakers it is 200 watts RMS and 400-watt peak.

The speakers are hardwired, to a certain degree I can understand hardwiring the main speaker because this is the controller speaker the volume knob and bass knobs are here. However, the companion speaker is also hardwired this is a big problem in my opinion because over time you can’t easily change the wire. I mean you can change the wire if you’re handy with a soldering iron but it’s really hard.

The cable that is hard soldered to the speaker is short, it’s about five and a half feet in length. This is a problem especially for people who have multiple monitor displays if you’re rocking dual monitor or quad monitor you’ve got an infinity display setup, you’re gonna run into a problem because most people with a 2.1 setup like this are gonna put the subwoofer on the floor and have the two satellite speakers on their desk. If you’ve got three or four monitors on your desk, you’re going to find that this cord is way too short.

Logitech Z625

We get our subwoofer here it’s 130 watts of power on this, the satellites have a driver and a tweeter and about 35 watts of power on each of those. It’s a very simple system that hooks up to actually there’s nothing to disconnect or reconnect once you get everything up and running and you can have multiple things connected to it at once and they all just kind of play through it. So you have two RCA connectors here left and right for a CD player or some other device that uses those connectors.

There’s also a standard headphone jack style connector for your sound cards, if you have that green output on your sound card just run the cable right into the back of there like you have a traditional set of speakers. You also have an optical input so you can connect up a game console or some other device that supports optical audio out which is good and often the best sound quality you’ll get. The connector looks like a VGA connector but it’s not, it’s actually the connector that you use to connect up to one of the speakers that sit on your desk. So the right speaker is kind of the command center you can turn it on and off from there, you can control the bass volume on the subwoofer over here, and also your main volume connector and it sends back all of that stuff via this.

What’s also interesting about this is that you have some additional connectors on the speaker so you have additional input on the speaker. So you can plug in a phone or some other device into there on your desk without having to go crawl under it to connect it back up to the main subwoofer. You also have a headphone jack there and that is what all the pins on this cable facilitate in the process there. The other speaker just connects below that big connector right over there but everything is controlled by the right speaker.

SOUND QUALITY:

Logitech Z623

These speakers put out the bass in high quantities which is surprising especially for the price point. These speakers sound fantastic. The audio quality is awesome for music, for movies, for gaming, they are outstanding and no wonder because it uses THX which is behind movie theater audio systems, which do the loud sound test intro before the movie starts, they tuned these speakers for Logitech, so the audio quality is outstanding.

Logitech Z625

The sound quality on this is going to be largely based on your intended usage. So if you are listening to music or making music on these I don’t think this is going to be something I can recommend primarily because the audio is very flat. Especially, the high-frequency audio just doesn’t have a lot of depth or detail to it and music listening really wasn’t all that enjoyable. You definitely get some thump out of the subwoofer not as much as I would like. But the satellite speakers really do sound pretty flat and boring and I really did not get a good music experience out of it.

Gaming was a little better though because it is a very loud system and you can really crank the volume up to a point where you don’t even get that much distortion even when you’re really blasting it. It sounded pretty good at least it wasn’t getting distorted and sounding like I was going to blow the speaker’s out yet I was able to get a good amount of volume out of it. But again the issues with the subwoofers still remain not as much thump and a boom that I would like especially on a game where there’s a lot of explosions and other things happening within the game itself. So good volume not so great on the sound quality, this is more of a gaming system than it is a music listening system.

Logitech Z625

WHICH TO BUY?

The Logitech Z623 speakers retail on Amazon for $120 that is a steal of a deal when you consider the audio quality and the amount of bass that these speakers can produce. If you have a computer, a television, a phone anything that you can listen to music through you will enjoy them.

Expert Reviews of Logitech Z623:

By Tech Digest
They’re fairly pricey, but gamers and movie fans will get a lot out of the Logitech Z623 speakers. Superb bass response and an excellent stab at immersive THX audio make them easy to recommend, even if the satellites lack a little in detail.

By Tech Radar
They have to be heard to be believed though, and despite our reservations about the THX certification, it actually seems to mean something here. These come highly recommended.

Expert Reviews of Logitech Z625:

Logitech upgraded their older Z623 speaker to feature an optical port and branded it the Z625. The optical port opens up a wider array of connectivity options such as the ability to hook them up to a TV or Console directly. While these speakers are perfect for movie watching and casual gaming, their ability to belt out good music was surprising to say the least. The official (MRP) price tag on the Logitech Z625 is high, but their street price is considerably lower – anywhere between Rs. 7500 to Rs. 8999. At that price range you’d be hard pressed to find a better sounding 2.1 system.
