Detail Review:

Microsoft Surface Mouse

This thing is pretty expensive, especially considering it’s just a Bluetooth mouse. It really works well with the Surface products of Microsoft and it’s specially made for Microsoft Surface devices.

Microsoft Surface Mobile Mouse

This Microsoft Surface Mobile Mouse is easy to carry around and easily portable. It will be more good for Surface devices. The design and physically it’s very similar to the original surface mouse.

Microsoft Surface Mouse

It’s really light and the texture is also good. The surface mouse has a nice arc and surely it looks like it’s ergonomically well designed. There is a grey colored Microsoft logo and the texture of the mouse is really nice. The mouse is actually made of plastic and you won’t get that premium feel but for usage, its design is good.

Microsoft Surface Mobile Mouse

This has three color schemes, it comes in silver, cobalt blue, and burgundy, the same colors as the new go tablets. To say the design and aesthetics in one-word is minimalistic, a single color tone is applied all over the mouse which sports an avid extra shape.

The new Mobile Mouse is actually a reskin to Microsoft Designer Mouse which launched a few years back. It has a super slim body that’s smooth to the touch and feels amazing. It’s made up mostly out of plastic and the scroll wheel is metal this time around. Due to its simplistic nature and mouse comes fitted with the standard trio of buttons, left-click, right-click, and the clickable scroll wheel.

It is pleasant to use even after multiple hours and not seduce you to dimensions. It has a length of 10.7 centimeters a width of 6 centimeters and a height of 2.6 centimeters. The device weighs in at a respectable 79 grams when used with the included alkaline batteries. It is extremely portable, you can easily stash it away in a laptop sleeve or a back compartment without adding any major bulk, looks like the mobile mouse is living up to its name.

It’s a straight-up recycle design-wise from the older iteration. If you weren’t a fan of that design, you’re not gonna be fond of this one either and the other downside, it can be a bit too low because if you are a palm gripper or a claw gripper, it’s not gonna be comfortable.

Microsoft Surface Mouse

Now, even though it’s expensive, the main reason you should get this one is that you don’t have to fiddle around with the wireless dongle. There is only one button on the back just for turning it on or and also to activate the pairing mode and for the mouse control, you get the standard mouse layout with the scroll wheel at the center and the right-click and the left click buttons. This scroll wheel also acts as the middle button and the scroll wheel is actually made of metal and that’s the only metal portion in the mouse.

To pair the device and mouse is to open the Bluetooth settings on your laptop. So, since the mouse is already in pairing mode, you can add a device, and here you have the option to connect a mice or a keyboard, you have to choose that, and straightaway it shows the surface mouse and on choosing that it’s paired. Once it’s paired, the first thing I noticed is that the tracking is smooth and this mouse is ergonomically really comfortable. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles that the MX Master 2S have but surely for comfort, this one is pretty good.

The accuracy while clicking and pointing is also good and everything feels smooth. It’s working great, this scroll wheel is not the infinite smooth type scroll wheel but instead, this one is a resistant type but still it’s good. The main reason you should get this mouse is that it blends well with Surface Go. Both are Surface products and they match pretty well.

There is only one button and to turn it on, you need to press this button once and to turn it off, similarly just press it once again, and if you want to initiate the pairing mode, just press and hold the button for three seconds.

Flipping it over, you’ll find a button that is used to power on or off and of course, sync the device with your PC or laptop. Setting up the mouse is as easy as can be, press and hold the power button located at the bottom for three seconds then windows will notify you that the service mouse is ready to connect with your system, simply press confirm and the setup complete.

To make the most out of your mouse, be sure to download the Microsoft mouse and keyboard center. There, you can switch the left and right-click, customize scroll behavior, set macros for the scroll wheel click, change your dpi setting which ranges from 400 to 1800, and you can assign apps specific macros and you can check your battery life here as well.

Microsoft Surface Mouse

For this mouse, you need AAA batteries and Microsoft claims that the battery life will last for 12 months. One cool thing is that the battery compartment cover is magnetic. Now, you just slide it up and you get access to the battery compartment. There is a slight problem with this magnetic closure which is it can easily come off if you just leave the mouse inside your back but if it’s kept in a table, it’s gonna stay intact.

Microsoft Surface Mobile Mouse

The mouse also comes with two AAA batteries which are pre-installed. Battery life is good according to Microsoft, it lasts up to 6 months. I think I would like to see a rechargeable battery installed with a USB C port, so it could be less of a hassle if your battery runs out.

Both the mouse is not that much different but there are some little bit differences. In my opinion, the Surface Mobile mouse is good for travel and also for regular use. The Mobile mouse is a sleek and slim design, its modern, it matches well with most any setup out there. Also, the price is less than the Microsoft Surface mouse and the mobile mouse is the upgraded one.

This Surface mouse is really expensive and the price is not justifiable considering the materials used here are not premium and surely for this price, you have much better options in the market. If you have a Surface laptop then it will blend really well with that and even though it just has the basic functions, it’s ergonomically comfortable.
