INTRODUCTION:

Razer DeathAdder V2

The features and functions of this Razer DeathAdder V2 mouse are amazing compared to their price. The ergonomic and other things also changed physically from the older version. 

Razer Basilisk V2

This mouse was made to really compete with the G502. This one has many good features which all will be very useful for the performance of the mouse. The Accuracy and performance are very nice in this mouse.

DESIGN:

Razer DeathAdder V2

This mouse is able to look subtle in an office environment or look classy as part of a gaming setup. On the bottom of the mouse, we have two plastic feet which make the mouse glide elegantly like a figure skater on any mousepad. It is also pretty light at only 82 grams which doesn’t hurt your wrists for long durations of time. When it comes to the V2, we are able to still see the classic DeathAdder shape but Razer has been able to improve on a lot of tiny details.

The build quality is a lot better than the previous generations of the DeathAdder. The build quality is better because you can definitely tell the plastic feels a little bit better and especially on the sides, the plastic and the rubber feel a ton better as well. It just feels a little bit more premium, I don’t know what they decided to do if it’s a different kind of rubber texture, it just feels a little bit better and gives you a bit better grip.

One thing I will say about the DeathAdder is that the shape has always been really comfortable and I’m surprised like a ton of mice haven’t really been modeled exactly after the DeathAdder but for sure, the grips on the side, the buttons, the scroll wheel do feel a bit better than the old DeathAdder.

The weight is a little bit lighter than the previous generations. The old DeathAdder used to be somewhere in the realm of pretty close to a hundred grams, this is now a lot closer to 82 or 83 grams depending on your scale and you can definitely tell the difference is noticeable.

Razer Basilisk V2

It is really comfortable, I like how it’s not nearly as heavy as the G502 all the versions that I try because they just seem kind of hefty where this one it’s not the lightest mouse I’ve tried but it is noticeably lighter than a G502. On top of that versus the Basilisk V1, this one is a little bit lighter as well, and as noticeable, it’s nothing game-changing but it is noticeable.

The build quality standard Razer is just plastic and rubber. It’s about as good as it’s gonna get from Razer. A little bit much cheaper side but is decent and passable but I’m glad they use plastic and rubber instead of like metal and stuff like the G502 because that’s what makes it a ton heavier.

FEATURES & PERFORMANCE:

Razer DeathAdder V2

The Razer speed flex cable is 10 times better than the old cables they used to use on all of their old mice and I’m glad that it finally made its way over to the DeathAdder V2. It was much needed that old thick Razer braided cable needed to go and I hope it’s done forever. It’s fine if it’s on a keyboard but on a mouse, they need to use a speed flex cable standard on all Razer mice going forward. Now, to be honest, it’s not as good as what you’ll find on an MM710 but it is still pretty good, definitely good enough to where you don’t need a mouse bungee as well. So, if you don’t really like having a mouse bungee on your desk then this could be a good pick for you because it does work very well.

The next thing they change is a ton better is the skates. The skates are a lot better than what used to be on the older generations of Razer mice as a whole like they didn’t use to be bad but they definitely weren’t great. Now, these skates do feel just like the Viper and they do feel really good. I don’t feel like I need to change the skates at all. As you can probably tell, they are pretty big, they’re super smooth. More than likely, it’s the same kind of PTFE material that is found on the Razer Viper which is probably why I share the same feelings that I don’t really need or have the urge to replace these skates with something else.

They also upgraded the sensor to the latest 5g optical sensor as well as the mouse buttons to their latest optimized mechanical switches for mice. So, the same switches that we’ve seen in the Razer Viper at first these optimized mechanical switches, and they do sound totally different than the older mechanical switches and they react a lot faster as well. Personally, I do feel like I haven’t really been playing necessarily as good as I would with the Viper but that’s just because a Viper is lighter and that’s kind of what I’m used to now.

The feet, the cable, the sensor, and things which overall make the most better for the user instead of better on paper. We see that they have a finger groove on the right-click so that your fingers feel more secure and in place. There are also some very nice rubberized textures on the side so that you are in control of every single movement.

The cable is also now braided using Razer’s speed flex technology. The cable is much lighter than your classic braided variants and this allows for easy movements on the mouse as well as a very durable material so that you’ll know it’ll last a long time.

Our experience is with the DeathAdder V2 have been really good so far. From the instant hand touched the mouse, I fell in love with how ergonomic it is and how it was as if it was the perfect mold for our hands. 

A few downsides about this mouse is mainly its bigger body. If you have small hands, this may not be the most for you as it is pretty big. Overall, when it came to the DeathAdder V2, we can say that this is a great mouse for anyone who wants to video edit, game, or even use it casually. The shape of the mouse is perfect for anyone’s hands and in my opinion, this is the best part of this mouse.

Razer Basilisk V2

They drag and drop the PTFE feet, the focus plus sensor, the optical switches, and the speed flex cable. A lot of easy upgrades right there, so glad that they are just doing across the board at this point. These shouldn’t really have to be things that we have to ask for anymore, they should be standard. So, I’m glad the Razer is taking that step.

The switch is good to use, sensor good to use, paracord same thing but I really did enjoy using this mouse because it brought back something that I really liked using on the SteelSeries Rival 600. I really didn’t enjoy using that third mouse button and in this one, a little removable trigger that they added, they only gave me the longer one in the box, no longer that super tiny one they used to give you an old Basilisk but I feel like this one is the appropriate size anyways personally. It’s really easy to hit, it works every time without fail, so I give credit for that because I do really like having a third mouse button and I wish that some ultralight mice will start introducing three mouse buttons on the side as well because I feel like useful.

You’ve got eleven programmable buttons. You got your two buttons to change your DPI, your two optical switches up topside, buttons for your scroll wheel obviously pressing it down, and then three mouse buttons on the side, your profile button on the bottom. This thing has a ton of buttons and they’re all remappable. I feel like those are kind of nice for like maybe media controllers or something and you need something’s gonna be a gaming/productivity mouse then this could do the job.

The absolute best thing about the Basilisk V2 is definitely the adjustable scroll wheel, so I feel like the sound is kind of annoying but the fact that it’s so adjustable and is really nice and you can tune it to whatever, the perfect adjustability that you think it should be. It’s really easy to do, there’s just a little scroll wheel on the bottom and it adjusts the tension of the scroll wheel for you. That way if you do your scroll a lot for example in a better way out to switch items, you’ll pretty much set it to your perfect specification and you’ll never have to worry about overshooting switching items.

If I needed a mouse with a ton of buttons like this one, I would definitely go ahead and pick this one over a G502. The reason is this one is a little bit more in line with getting closer to what I’m used to. If they could drop the weight that would be great but I’m pretty sure that might be kind of hard as I feel like this mouse is kind of already light as it is.

SOFTWARE:

Razer DeathAdder V2

I liked how the RGB is on this mouse, subtle with only two lighting zones, one on the scroll wheel, and one on the back of the mouse. They can be easily controlled via the Razer synapse program. In the Synapse software, you can also customize all the buttons in the mouse. Also, there are five stages of profiles which you can select in the software as per your like.

Razer Basilisk V2

You got eleven programmable buttons in the mouse, so you are able to customize all the buttons placed in the mouse. Also, you can change and set many other things in the software. You have plenty of options in the customization of buttons and also RGB lighting. You have many choices for RGB lighting and also you can set the speed of lighting with the options. There are also settings of the speed and many other things about the buttons. You should download the Razer Synapse software to have all these things.

WHICH TO BUY?

Both the mice work well and the price difference is also about $10. So, this makes the decision to take a little bit difficult. In my opinion and considering the features of both the mice, I think Razer Basilisk V2 will be better to buy than the DeathAdder V2 and also the price is not very different.
